DREAM SEQUENCE: EXT. MARKET – MORNING

A market place in the morning... A middle aged woman is standing in front of a


wool shop. We see a shop with colorful woollen threads lying. This woman is
enthusiastically trying to choose a colour. She chooses a yellow color ball of
wool. She tells someone –

WOMAN

Peela bahut bhaata hai Malti par...

CUT TO:

DREAM SEQUENCE: INT. UNKNOWN HOUSE – DAY

The woman is knitting the wool. She stands up, walks to another room and tries
to wake up a young girl in 20’s. This young girl is young Malti. She says –

WOMAN

Maltiii!

This voice echoes as we fade to

INT. MALTI HOUSE – MORNING

Malti wakes up in shock in her bedroom. She was dreaming. This is not the same
Malti we have seen sleeping. Malti is aged now. She is in her 40’s. She looks like
a person who i

s desperately looking for a break. She is sweating thoroughly and as she doing
her morning prayers, we notice her room. It’s a messy unclean room with some
fancy stuff lying around the bed. As Malti is getting up, we hear a woman’s voice
calling out her name. Malti moves to another room and we see an elderly woman
sitting on the floor with a rustic steel case. She is Malti’s mother. Clothes are lying
out of the case. She is holding a half knit sweater. (Please note that this is the
same sweater from the steel case). Malti gets disgusted looking at her mother.

Malti starts picking all the clothes and puts in the steel case without looking at her
mother. Mother is looking at Malti constantly and holding the half knit sweater.
Malti snatches the sweater and puts it inside too. Malti warns her mother while
putting the steel case in the loft –

MALTI

Samet nahi sakti ho to failaaya mat karo...

Malti walks up to the washroom after saying this. Mother mumbles –

MOTHER

Saans bhi tumhari hee marji se lein kya?

Malti peeps from washroom, smiles and says –

MALTI

Jii...

She shuts the door.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – MOMENTS LATER

Malti comes out of the washroom with toothbrush in her mouth. She comes at Mother’s
room to see her mother struggling to get up from the floor. She is still busy at brushing
while doing her dialy chores. Mother looks at her with expectations that she will help.
Malti doesn’t and goes to the wash basin to wash her face. She then goes to other room
to pick her clothes and towel. Malti goes inside the washroom, thinks for a bit.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – MOMENTS LATER

Malti helps her mother settle on the bed. She cleans up the bed and while cleaning up,
she finds a bottle of whiskey under the pillow. She looks at her mother with anger.
Mother tries to avoid facing Malti. Malti goes to the other side of the bed to have a
confrontation. She looks directly into her mother’s eyes and says pointing to the bottle –

MALTI

Ye chatak gayi naa to tum chatak jaayogi... Samjhi


amma...

Mother just nods like a child. Malti throws the bottle into the dust bin. She goes to the
kitchen while still speaking -

MALTI

Mundi mat hilaao... Humari kamar jhuke jaa rahi hai


kaam kar karke... Humko laga tha sugar ke baad
tumhara ye sab band ho jaayega lekin pata nahi
tumko kon haraami sugarfree daaru bata diya...
Tum mahine me kuch nahi to chaar baar pee hee

leti ho... Vo tumhe bilkul yaad rehta hai lekin agar


hum dawaai dena bhul jaaye to vo yaad nahi rehti
tumhe...

MOTHER

Din ginne ki umar me khurakh bhi hum hee ginee...

MALTI

Pacchis saal se din hee gin rahi hai meena


kumari...

Malti comes back in the room. She connects the tape recorder, takes out a cassette and
starts playing ‘Sooraj Ki Garmi Se’. Mother is looking at Malti constantly. She is thinking
of a comeback for Malti’s last reply. Malti notices this, smiles and says -

MALTI

Kataksh mat socho amma... Bhajan suno dhyaan


se... Sadhbuddhi aayega...

Mother has a winning expression on her eyes. She knows the accurate comeback and
she says-

MOTHER

Bitiya jab jeevan neeras or dukhi ho naa tab insaan


din hee ginta hai... Tab ram ki sharan me hee jaane
ka man karta hai... (Referring to the lines of Bhajan)

Malti gives a look to her.

MOTHER

Shaadi biyaah kuch karleti to poora bakhat yee


naak chadha ke nahi ghumti...

Malti completely ignores it, looks at the clock and start rushing to the washroom. She
increases the sound of tape recorder as to avoid more conversation with the mother.

EXT. VARIOUS LANES, VERSOVA – DAY

Montage sequence: Malti walking through different lanes of slums of Versova as we


witness the livelihood of the area through the perspective of Malti. Her face is covered
with dupatta and she has earphones on. The song is playing on her earphones.

CUT TO:

EXT. TEA STALL NEAR CHURCH, VERSOVA – DAY

Govind... 27 years... auto rickshaw driver... neatly dressed. He is sitting near the stall
and is rubbing tobacco when he sees Malti passing near the tea stall. He gets nervous
looking at Malti and throws tobacco from his hands. Malti-Govind exchanges a look.
They don’t speak to each other but there is certain chemistry between them. Malti goes
away. Seeing this as an opportunity, Govind suddenly stands up and rushes towards his
auto rickshaw. Tea stall owner shouts out to him -

TEA STALL OWNER

Abey chai to peeke jaa...

GOVIND

Rehne de... Tu vaise hee phate doodh ka chaai


pilaata hai...

Govind sits in the auto and moves away.

EXT. ROAD – DAY

Malti is walking and Govind comes from behind and stops auto rickshaw near Malti...
Govind nervously says -

GOVIND

Taai... Mai chodh dega naa?

MALTI

Nahin, hum chale jaayenge...

GOVIND

Areey mai vahaan jaa raha hai...

MALTI

Vahaan... Kahaan

Malti says this with sarcasm and sits inside the rickshaw... Govind smiles and starts the
auto rickshaw.

Music intensifies as Malti is sitting in Govind’s rickshaw and this overwhelms him. The
reaction on Govind’s face shows a certain attraction of Govind for Malti.

PBS 1 Ends...

CUT TO:

EXT. APNA JAHAAN HOUSING SOCIETY – DAY

Auto rickshaw stops... Malti gets out and hands over a 20Rs note to Govind. Govind
denies and says –

GOVIND

Apno se paise thodi leta...

Malti puts the money in Govind’s pocket and says –

MALTI

Badon ka aashirwaad hai... Rakh lo...

Govind is partially astonished as it is closest Malti has ever been to him and partially
sad. With all the emotions, he is seeing Malti walking away.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA’S FATHER HOUSE – DAY

Shot of a pressure cooker whistling. Malti is preparing food and also doing various
chores of house. An old man’s voice is coming from the other room. He is shouting and
fighting with someone.

OLD MAN (O.S)

You are a disgrace from me...

Acchaa... Convent me padhaaya tha maine... Not


to make you a person who goes into this business
of fucking sluts and directionless morons. (Almost
screaming)

Malti enters the room with a little hesitation. Seeing Malti he lowers his temper and
moves to other room.

Malti is mopping the floor and she feels itchiness on her hands. She washes her hands
with water from the bucket while she is mopping only. Since itching still continues, she
goes to the bathroom to wash her hands.

While washing her hands, she sees a bunch of soap packets lying there. Malti tries to
avoid it as she is looking at ithere is a certain urge in her to steal. She comes back to
check the old man, goes back and takes one of the soap packet. There is a sense of
extreme joy in Malti’s face.

She comes back again to check the old man and notices he is on the phone ad looks
upset. Seeing this, Malti puts the soap packet back and resumes her work.

As Malti is completing her work, we see Malti’s attention is totally towards the washroom
where the soap packet is kept.

As she finishes her work, she looks at the washroom first then at a poster of some Hindu
god, asks for forgiveness to the photo and then steals the soap and leaves.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA FATHER HOUSE - DAY

The old man is smoking and looking at a bunch of photographs. There is a photo of
young girl in a fancy dress competition. Then the next photo is of a very beautiful young
girl in her 20’s.

The old man picks up his phone and dials a phone number.

CUT TO:

INT. BUS – DAY

The girl from the photograph is sitting by the window in a bus. She has makeup on her
face and she looks groomed as if she is going to a party. She looks upset and has her
earphones on. Her phone vibrates. ‘Papa’ is written on the caller I.D. She ignores it.

I/C:

INT. NAVYA FATHER HOUSE - DAY

The old man is standing on the balcony and is trying to call. Due to no response he gets
disappointed, he sits on the couch and then takes out a photo from the bunch of photos
spread on the table. It’s an old photo of his younger days. He is standing with his a lady
and an infant on his shoulder.

Old man breaks down. Sound of ringing of telephone.

CUT TO:

INT. UNKNOWN HOUSE – NIGHT

Telephone is ringing. A man comes to pick the call. This is old man’s younger version.

He picks up the call.

OLD MAN

Hello... Koun bol raha hai...

We hear a woman’s voice from the other end. She is crying. Man looks a little nervous.
He is contemplating something. As the woman from the other end utters the first word,
he disconnects the calls and takes out the cable of the telephone.

There is sense of guilt and regret in this man’s face. He takes a deep sigh and walks to
the other room where a young girl of around 6 years is sleeping. We move closer to the
younger girl as we cut to...

CUT TO:

INT. CASTING OFFICE – DAY

Light flashes... Sound of the clicking of a photograph... Navya is standing in front of a


white wall. It’s a casting office. She is giving her profile for audition. She looks a little
zoned out. The guy taking the photograph says -

PHOTOGRAPHER

Hey Navya right? Can you please smile thoda


zyada...

Navya smiles and he takes a photograph.

CUT TO:

INT. CASTING OFFICE – MOMENTS LATER

Navya auditions for a part of some film. She delivers a monologue of a girl’s relationship
with her father.

CUT TO:

EXT. VERSOVA LANE NEAR MALTI PLACE – EVENING

Malti is coming back from work. She reaches her house and sees alot crowd gathered
near Govind’s house and everything is decorated. Govind is distributing sweets to
everyone in the lane. Malti stands inquisitive. Govind notices her and walk towards her.
He opens the sweet box and offers it to Malti. Malti asks him –

Shaadi tay ho gayi tumhari (smiles)

GOVIND

Taai aap bhi kuch bhi bolte ho... Humara bhateeja


hua hai... Aap aaiye naa ghar...

Malti feels disgusted. She can’t hide her personal pain on hearing this. She gives a fake
smile. Govind realises the situation but doesn’t know how to react. To break the
awkwardness of the situation, Govind says –

GOVIND

Aap mithaai to lijiye...

Malti also try to pretend happy.

MALTI

Poora dabba le lein...

Govind smiles on this. Gopal, Govind’s brother calls out Govind from the house. Malti
just takes one piece of sweet from the box.

MALTI

Badhaai ho...

Govind greets her and goes towards in a rush, looks at her back. Malti signals him to
rush.

As Govind leaves, we see Malti standing sad amongst all the celebrations in the
neighbourhood.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti is sitting alone with a drink in her hand. She looks extremely sad with the sweet still
in her hand. She gulps the drinks in one go and looks at her in the mirror. She has aged
and lost her beauty. She is sweating heavily though the ceiling phone is in full speed.

She tries to control herself but she breaks down and cries inconsolably but tries to lower
her voice as she doesn’t want her mother to listen to her.

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti opens her door and sees Mother standing at the door. Her eyes are swollen. She
tries to act casual in front of her mother.

MOTHER

Kaahe subuk rahi ho

Malti rushes towards the kitchen ignoring her words. Then says casually-

MALTI

Kuch bhi kehti hai aap... Aapka kaan baj raha


hoga... Isliye kehte hai kam peeya kijiye...

Mother is standing and she looks serious and a little concerned.

MOTHER

Malti!

MALTI

Kyaa... (irritated)

Khade mat rahiye sar pe... Aapka ghutna aur


humara sar dard hone lagega...

MOTHER

Sharab mat peeya karo... Sambhalti nahi hai


tumse...

Mother says this and walks to her bed. Malti again feels like crying but she controls
herself. Water is boiling as she is preparing tea.

CUT TO:

INT/EXT. TAXI/ MNC OFFICE – NIGHT

Navya arrives in a cab outside a company’s office. Her boyfriend is waiting for her. The
guy’s name is Ashwin (35). He looks like a typical software engineer. He is wearing
specs and a company I.D. He gets inside the cab. He is listening to music which annoys
Navya. He greets Navya and holds her hand while being busy on his mobile phone.
Navya starts looking outside the cab. She feels alone. She looks at him in a hope for his
attention but Ashwin is occupied. She takes out the earphone socket from the phone and
says –

NAVYA

Baat kar paaoge... Am I stupid that I waited so


much just to pick you up...

ASHWIN

Kya ho gaya yaar... I am a little occupied. Did I tell


you to pick me up...

NAVYA

To meri galti hai...

Okay let it be...

ASHWIN

I am not saying it’s your mistake. Infact koi galti


jaisa kuch hua hee nahi hai. Saath rehte hai, saath
sote hai. Thoda hectic hota hee tum trigger ho jaati
ho...

NAVYA

So it is my mistake in the end. Mahaan kyu bante


ho phir ki sab theek hai, kisi ki galti nahi hai...

Ashwin takes a deep sigh in frustration and says –

ASHWIN

I love you... Don’t be upset please.

NAVYA

Tumne hee sikhaaya hai naa... Words don’t matter,


gestures do. You didn’t even asked mera din kaisa
tha... How my audition went...

ASHWIN

Okaay... How was your audition?

NAVYA

Abhi bolne kee baad puchne ka kya faayda... And


anyway I am not shortlisted.

Ashwin presses her hands in consolation.

ASHWIN

It is totally okay. You have to just keep going. You


can’t be upset about work all the time.

NAVYA

No it’s not. I am not getting work and it freaks me


out.

There is a silence between the two.

NAVYA

Tum nahi samjhoge...

ASHWIN

Kya nahi samjhunga... Yaar tumhe bewajah


annoyed rehna hai to raho... Learn how to deal with
life. Abhi mera koi code fail ho jaata hai to do I crib
about it or do I put that frustration of mine on you or
this relationship.

NAVYA

I am not frustrated. Just disappointed with you...

Ashwin puts his earplugs back.

ASHWIN

You always are.

NAVYA

Fuck you.

We hear the honking of the horns in the traffic.

CUT TO:

INT/EXT.MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Celebrations are happening in the lane. Govind and his elder brother are dancing. Malti’s
mother is looking at all this. Malti comes with a plate of food. She is a little peaceful now
but her sorrow can be seen by her swollen eyes.

MALTI

Khidki lagaao.... Aur khana khao amma...

Malti puts the plate on a small table. Mother closes the window, looks at Malti and says –

MOTHER

Tum ghar basaa leti naa... to ye baar baar aankh


naa sujaani padti...

Malti feels guilty about crying. She responds avoiding eye contact.

MALTI

Khaana khaiye aap...

MOTHER

Nahi khaayenge hum... Tum baat karogi yaa akele


hee tesuyee bahaati rahoge... Naa sakhi saheli hai,
naa shouk hai. Kuch sochi ho jeevan ke liye.

Malti gets little emotional. It is after such a long time her mother is behaving like her
mother and showing concern.

CUT TO:

Malti is resting her head on mother’s lap. Mother is carassing her and calming her.

MALTI

Hum buree nahi hai... Jitni chadaar ho utnee hee


pair pasaarna chahiye... Yahi seekhe hai...

Par aap bataaaiye koi insaan kya karega agar uske


jeevan me chadaar hee nahi ho... Humko poora life
vaisa lagni lagi hai...

Mother is listening very sincerely.

MALTI (cont’d)

Aaj vo pados me hai naa Govind... Jo auto chalaata


hai... Uski bhabhi lata ko ladka hua hai... Humko
khushi hee nahi hui... Muskuraane ka natak hee
nahi kar paa rahe the... Jaise muhh me lakwa maar
gaya ho... Aur hum bure nahi hai... Ye aapko bhi
maloom hai...

Malti is boiling on emotions as she moves away from her mother and stands up. She
holds an alcohol bottle. Mother gets a little scared. Malti looks a little paranoid. She
comes closer towards her mother and says –

MALTI

Padhne likhne ka to mauka hee nahi mila... Kaahe


ki baarah saal ke the tabai se apni amma baap ke
maa baap bane huye hai...

Lekin uske bawjood home science me itna choukas


the ki poora versova ke sab ghar humko bulaata
hai... Aur saale koi pakad bhi nahi paata hai ki hum
bacche ke khilone se lekar saboon ki tikiya tak sab
taap lete hai...

Mother is stunned and extreme silent. Malti is venting out all her frustration at her. Malti
sits on the floor, she is emotional.

MALTI

Aur sach bataaye amma... Aaj jahaan khade hai


naa hum... Humari nazar se dekhogi to bahut
chutiya mehsoos hota hai... Samanya zindagi jeene
ka to mauka hee nahi mila... Jab paida huye to tum
aur bauuji kutta billi type ladte the... Phir bauuji
bhaag gaye to laga ab shaanti aayegi tab tum
meena kumari banke khamba pakad li...

Saying this, Malti throws the bottle on the wall beside her. This angers Mother. She starts
crying.

MOTHER

Pagla gayi ho kya... Hum tumko kab roke jeevan


jeene se... Vo oon ka guccha kyu laaye the hum...
Hum to chahte the ki tum shaadi karo... tumhara
baccha ho aur humara sila huaa sweater vo
pehne... Vo sab adhoora reh gaya...

Malti looks straight into her eyes and says –

MALTI

Pata hai kiske karaan amma...

Aapke! Humein bauuji ya kisi aadmi se kabhi koi

ummed nahi rahi... Kyunki aadmi jo hai naa amma


vo khaali yogdaan de sakta hai lekin aurat... aurat
to jeevan deti hai duniya chalaati hai...

Malti is almost choking... She has tears on her eyes...

MALTI

Aap to apne dukh me itni matlabi ho gayi ki aapne


humara jeevan hee barbaad karke rakh diya...

MOTHER (screams)

Humne barbaad kiya... Bhaag ke aaye the tumhare


baap ke sath bambaai... Raj Kapoor banne aaya
tha tumhara baap... Raj Kapoor ka driver bhi nahi
ban paaya... Sab humaraa barbaad hua hai bujhi...
Humne dekha hai majboori wala jeevan isliye agar
tum kabhi ghar nahi basaana chahi to humne bhi
tumhe majboor nahi kiya... Isme hum galat hai...

MALTI

Kya tum har baat ko shadi par or ghar basaane par


lee aati ho... Ek aurat ka utna hee jeevan hota hai...
Aur shadi bhi kahaan se karta... Aap itna badi
udhaaran jo hai... Kya mila aapko shadi karke...

Malti starts crying. There is certain stillness in the house.

MOTHER

Tum... Tum naseeb hui humko...

Malti goes near her mother and hugs her tightly. Mother holds her too.

MALTI

Thappad maaro humko... Hum galat tareeke se


baat kiye hai...

MOTHER

Humko pata hai ki hum galat the... Jab tak ehsaas


hua tab tak tum itna aage nikal gayi thi ki kabhi rok
ke maafi hee nahi maang paaye... Kabhi tumhee
ghar jaisa mohoul hee nahi de paaye... Isliye lagta

hai ki shayad shaadi biyaah karti to pati chaahe


kitna hee jaahil ho... bacche se jeevan nikal jaata
hai...

Malti and mother are hugging each other tightly.

CUT TO:

INT. ASHWIN HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is reading ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck’ in the bedroom.

Ashwin is sleeping outside in a couch.

Navya’s phone rings. It is again her father.

INSERT: Visual of Father slapping Navya.

She remembers this moment and suddenly a text comes from her father: ‘Live in the
house for my sake, please’

Navy looks at it and is about to reply but then something strikes her and she switches off
the phone. She puts the book away and lies down on her bed.

CUT TO:

Transition: Night to Day

INT/EXT. APNA JAHAAN SOCIETY – MORNING

Malti is climbing stairs and she sees Navya banging the door of her father’s house.
Seeing Malti, Navya stops for a bit. They greet each other formally and Malti goes to the
upper floor of the building.

CUT TO:

INT. HOUSE – BUILDING – DAY

Malti is doing house chores when she hears the wailing of a girl from the lower floor of
the building. As she starts going towards the door to see the happening, her phone starts
ringing.

She stops and picks the call. Someone informs her something and she gets stunned, the
wailing increases in her head. She picks up her stuff and rushes to the ground floor.

Malti reaches Navya father house’s floor and sees that Navya father house is filled with
alot people and Navya is wailing. She stops there for a second but quickly gather herself
and starts running towards the ground floor.

CUT TO:

EXT. ROAD, VERSOVA - DAY

Malti is trying to catch an auto rickshaw but nobody is stopping. She is numb. She starts
walking then stop and stands still near the road. We can see Malti is unable to figure out
anything. By chance Govind is coming back from somewhere and he sees Malti. He
goes near Malti, stops the auto rickshaw and says –

GOVIND

Taai kahin jaana hai kya aapko....

Matli, not looking at him says –

MALTI

Pata nahin...

Govind stands there for a while but then sits in the auto rickshaw and starts going away
when Malti composes herself and stops him.

MALTI

Ghar chal sakte ho... Jaldi...

Govind doesn’t ask her anything and starts the auto rickshaw. She sits and they leave
immediately.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA FATHER HOUSE – DAY

Navya’s father is no more. Navya is standing still but not crying anymore. People are
gathered around the dead body of father. A lady enters with a man, probably her
husband, give condolonces to the body. Then after standing for a while, she comes near
Navya, touches her cheeks and says –

WOMAN

Kitni badi ho gayi yee...

Himmat rakhna beta...

She says this and leaves. Navya doesn’t recognise this woman but she is too occupied
emotionally to contemplate.

INT/EXT. MALTI HOUSE – DAY

Auto rickshaw reaches Malti house. Malti goes inside in a rush. Some neighbours are
gathered outside her house. Govind also goes inside and as Govind enters the house

Malti keeps the mother’s hand away, carasses her and then goes inside her room.
Govind hesitates but then follows her.

GOVIND

Malti is throwing things off her almirah and taking out stuff and collecting money. She is
calculating money. She is throwing stuff here and there. Govind wants to console her but
he is hesitating. Govind calls her again -

GOVIND

Taai...

Malti is not stopping and moving in the room and is trying to find money when Govind
speaks loudly –

GOVIND

Malti...

Malti stops, looks at him emotionally and starts crying. Her crying turns into howling.

(music kicks in, reference music: Nanhi Chiraiya from Satyamev Jayate)

PBS 02: The song plays in the funeral rite of Malti’s mother.

CUT TO:

EXT. VERSOVA CREMATORIUM – EVENING

Malti’s mother dead body reaches the crematorium. The dead body of Navya’s father is
in the other funeral place. We see Malti and Navya performing ceremonies of their
respective relatives at the same time.

Both the bodies start burning.

We see Malti and Navya standing beside each other against the two burning dead
bodies. Though they don’t know each other yet, a connection is established.

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti wipes off her tears. She takes a deep sigh, roams around the house and sees that
the house is extremely dirty. She smiles, thinks something and steps out of her house.
She is about to go to Govind’s place, then stops herself and calls Govind.

MALTI

Ghar aa sakte ho turant...

CUT TO:

INT. BATHROOM, GOVIND PLACE – NIGHT

Govind excitedly enters the washroom. He first takes soap but then keeps it back and
takes an almost finished face wash packet. He presses it really hard managing to take
out a small amount of gel from the face wash, puts it on his face and starts bathing.

CUT TO:

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Govind is standing outside Malti’s house. He is too well dressed as if he is going to a


party. Malti opens the door, looks at him and starts laughing –

MALTI

Bhaiya galat ghar pe aa gaye aap... Daawat nahi


hai yahaan

Govind gets a little embarassed but then trying to be oversmart says –

GOVIND

Kuch logo se milna hee dawaat aur tyohaar jaise


hota hai...

Malti mockingly says –

MALTI

Tum ye auto chalaana chodh do aur picture likhne


lago... Bahut baat banate ho...

Malti gestures Govind to enter the house.

Govind is looking at the house feels stupid when he realises Malti has called him to help
her with cleaning of house. The whole place is dirty and there is bucket lying with water
and a broom. Govind says with a little disappointment –

GOVIND

Tumko hum khaali jhadu katka laayak hee lagte


hai...

Malti smiles listening to this, looking at her expression and her comfort with Govind
addressing her as ‘tum’, a bond is developed in the last months can be seen. She says –

MALTI

Humara ghar issi se chalta hai... Bahut pavitra


kaam hai humare liye... Tumko iska bhaagidaar
bana rahe hai to samjho...

Govind finds this sweet, he asks in a flirty manner –

GOVIND

Kya samjhe...

MALTI

Tum khaas ho...

Malti says this, takes the broom and starts cleaning. Govind is smiling and he is clearly
overwhelmed. Malti goes to the other room, looks that Govind is still standing and
smiling. She shouts out of him.

MALTI

Khaas dost ho bas... Ab chane ke jhaad se utro aur


madad karao...

Govind gives a childish expression of disgust. Then he takes the bucket and joins her.

CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM, ASHWIN HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is watching movie on laptop with her headphones and eating. She looks a little
frustrated due to something. She gets up, goes to the kitchen, keep the plate on the
kitchen rashly. The kitchen is really dirty. She throws the food packet on the floor. She
peeps to the living room – Ashwin is sitting with friends. They are having laughs and
chilling and eating. Now we know the reason of Navya’s mood. She gets more annoyed

CUT TO:

Navya starts loud music to distract people outside. She waits for a reaction but noone
comes. She feels stupid after a point so then turns off the music system.

Navya takes her phone and calls Ashwin in anger.

CUT TO:

Ashwin is standing in front of Navya; he looks in a hurry to join his friends.

NAVYA

Mai akeli baithi hu aur tum chill mar rahe ho...

ASHWIN

You only said you find my friends boring... Maine to


pucha tha tumhe join karne ko...

NAVYA

Yes!

Because they are boring and manipulative...

Ashwin cracks up on this. He found the behaviour of Navya stupid. He says –

ASHWIN

What do you even want?

Ashwin expression changes from laughter to annoy. Navya comes a little closer to him
and says –

NAVYA

I want to fuck.

Ashwin just moves out of the room in disgust without saying anything. Navya is standing
there like a fool.

Ashwin is sitting with his friends when Navya comes out of the bedroom and storms out
of the house.

Malti and Govind are done cleaning the house. Both of them are tired. They smile at
each other. Malti goes to the kitchen and comes back with a plate full of biscuits. She
says –

Doodh nahi hai varna chai pilaate... Biscuit khaate


ho naa ki paapad tale

Govind has already dipped a biscuit in a glass of water so he just gets a little
embarrassed.

GOVIND

Hum parle G bahut chaav se paani me dubooo ke


khate hai

MALTI

Ye kaisa combination hai...

Govind sees this as an opportunity to flirt. He says –

GOVIND

Humare aur tumhari tarah...

Malti smiles on this. She says mockingly –

MALTI

Humein nahi pasand ye combination...

GOVIND

MALTI

Nahi... Iska (pointing towards water and biscuit)

Govind enthusiastically passes the glass of water and a biscuit to her and says –

Saying this, Govind persuades her to eat it, she hesistantly takes a bite of it, smiles in

Konsa... (Referring to their relationship dynamics)

GOVIND

Both of them start laughing on this. Malti is happy after years it seems.

INT. BAR/NIGHT CLUB – NIGHT

Navya is sitting with the casting guy. Navya is preoccupied in mind and the casting guy
is trying to impress her. The place is filled with a lot of poeple and soft music is playing in
the background.

CASTING GUY

I really respect actors but these young strugglers...


I have a huge problem with them. They think the
world revolves around their art but that’s bullshit,
you know... (Trying to grab her attention)

Nayva in a very formal way says –

A bearded man of around 30’s comes near the table. He is casually dressed with glasses
hanging on his shirt. He says –

Navya finds this offensive, she retialates by saying –

NAVYA

MAN

man is an old friend...

And this man and casting guy hugs each other.

CASTING GUY

They are still hugging and talking in whispers only. Man says –

Casting guy gives a fake laugh. And this man offers his hand in Navya and he says –

Navya gives a smile and shakes hand. This man is Kallol Mukherjee. The casting guy is

Navya gulps down a drink in one go. She takes out her phone to text Ashwin, types sorry
but then stops and puts her phone back.

(Music kicks in)

Kallol is dancing madly with a girl. He is high. Navya is looking at him constantly and she
is quite sad. Navya smiles for the first time in her night when she looks at Kallol dancing
in a funny manner.

CUT TO:

EXT. JUHU BEACH – NIGHT

Malti and Govind are standing near a tea vendor and having bun maska pav. They are
sharing a laugh when Malti notices Navya passing from there, drunk and numb. There is
a concern on Malti’s face.

CUT TO:

INT. BANK ATM – NIGHT

Navya is seeing her bank balance. It is zero. She looks at her purse and she has no
money.

CUT TO:

EXT. ASHWIN BUILDING – NIGHT

Navya is sitting in an auto rickshaw. She is trying to call Ashwin but he is not picking up.
The auto rickshaw driver looks sleazy and he is annoyed.

DRIVER

Madam... Bohni ka time hai... Poora din barbaad ho


jaayega

NAVYA

Mai deti hu bhaiya...

DRIVER

(more to himself)

Navya takes some cash from guard and gives it to the driver. She is a little dizzy.

INT. LIFT – NIGHT

Navya is sitting on the floor of the lift.

CUT TO:

INT. ASHWIN HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is lying on the floor of the house. She looks upset.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti is lying on the bed, smiling.

CUT TO:

In the morning, Malti wakes up in a little distress. She feels tired; her bed has wet
patches due to excessive sweating Malti has experianced during the night. This is
happening for the first time to her.

Moments later... Malti sees Govind has left a milk packet in her living room. She smiles
for a moment, she feels happy. She tries to take out something from a heightened
platform and she feels mild body pain.

CUT TO:

INT. HOUSE, APNA JAHAAN SOCIETY – DAY

Malti is working in a household. The house has a middle aged Punjabi woman living with
her 26 year old unemployed son. His employment can be seen by him sleeping during
the day. The woman is sharing feminist quotes on Whatsapp group. (For the first time we
see some quote related to menopause and it’s effects).

Malti is working but the morning fatigue is still there. She goes in front of the water cooler
trying to cool her as she is having hot flashes.

CUT TO:

EXT. VERSOVA BEACH – EVENING

Malti is sitting on a small boat kept near the sea shore. Her hair is flowing due to cool
breezes of sea. She hears a voice from behind. It’s Govind. He shouts her name and
calls her towards him. He is standing near a horse cart.

Malti is walking towards him... Govind sits in the horse cart. When Malti reaches, he
offers his hand to Malti. She takes his hand and steps on the horse cart and this
happens against the sun fall in the the dusk.

INT/EXT. HORSE CART – EVENING

Malti and Govind are sitting in the horse cart. Malti is a little embarassed, she feels
childlike. Govind holds her hands for the first time and says –

GOVIND

Kaisa lag raha hai sab

MALTI

Theek hai...

GOVIND

Tumhare liye sab theek he hota hai

MALTI

Haan...

GOVIND

Aisa kaahe...

MALTI

Kuch bura hota hai to bura lagta hai... Kuch accha


hota to dar lagta hai ki bura naa ho jaaye... Isliye
theek sabse theek rehta hai...

GOVIND

Tum humko theek lagti ho...

Govind holds Malti’s hand tightly. He tries to shift to Malti’s side but gets scolded by the
horse cart rider. Malti starts laughing and we move to a drone shot.

INT. NAVYA FATHER HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya opens the door of the father’s house. The house is proper but it is full of dust; it
looks like it has not been opened since months. She sits on the sofa and is looking at the
house as if she is feeling the house. There is a sense of regret on her face. She closes
her eyes and we see her remembering seeing father lying dead when she people broke
the door on the day of his father’s death (we need to add a shot).

CUT TO:

Navya has opened the cupboard and looking at the valuables of her father. She takes
out a key and looks at a locked door of a room, she looks hesitant.

CUT TO:

Navya opens the door... It is her old room... She sees it still look clean compared to the
time she left this house. She feels emotional. She wipes the dust off the bed and lies
down on the bed. She is reliving the nostalgia. It is painful yet something to linger on.

CUT TO:

Navya finds a huge amount of money in his father’s drawer. She takes some money and
leaves.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti and Govind are sitting together and watching television. Papad, biscuit, glass of
water and chai is kept on the table. While Malti is engrossed in watching TV, Govind is
looking at her again and again. He is too excited of the fact that they are dating.

Govind with all his courage put his hands on Malti’s thighs. Malti notices this and hits on
his hands. She says –

MALTI

Humari shadi ka umar nikal gayi thi jab tum full pant
pehennna shuru kiye the...

GOVIND

Lekin humari kismat acchi thi tumhari shadi hui


nahi...

This hurts Malti. She doesn’t say anything though. Govind realises his mistake but it’s
too late. Govind tries to save the situation by saying –

Malti understands Govind’s gesture but she also reacts positively to avoid the rather
awkward situation.

MALTI

Ruko...

Malti gets up and takes out the steel case, puts it on the bed. She opens it and smiles at
Govind; Govind also joins her in seeing the stuff.

Malti and Govind are seeing pictures. They see an old picture of Malti’s parents.

Various photos and stuff from Malti’s childhood are there when Govind notices the yellow
sweater. Malti sees it and takes it in her hand. She feels the sweater. Govind asks –

GOVIND

Ye kya hai

MALTI

Humari maa ka sapna...

Govind doesn’t say anything but he is inquisitive. Malti is emotional.

CUT TO:

Govind is lying on the sofa while Malti is sitting near the bed and he is listening to her
with utmost attention.

MALTI

Hum jab 25 saal ke the tab humne chhupe se shadi


kar li thi apni maa ko bina bataye... Halaaki unhe
pata tha par naa unhone zaahir hone diya aur naa
meri kabhi himmat hui...

Humein laga the amma sulag jaayegi par ulta hua...

Malti gives a fake smile trying to hide her emotions. She is clearly overwhelmed. Govind
move towards her and asks –

Malti laughs at this and they hug tightly.

FADE TO:

INT. BEDROOM, MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti and Govind are lying beside each other looking at the ceiling fan. There is no
physical intimacy between them but the emotional bond looks beautiful. Malti says –

MALTI

Tum pehle insaan ho jisko ye sab bata rahe hai...


Pata nahi kyun...

GOVIND

Theek lagte hai hum...

MALTI

Haan...

Govind smiles on this. He has found his world.

MALTI

Jeevan itna sookha raha ki mahino se humein


mahina nahi aa raha...

Govind! Tumhare aane se himmat bandhi rahi


varna amma ka jaana humein roz kachotta hai...

Upon hearing this, Govind tries to approach her physically but she stops him.

MALTI

INT. BEDROOM, ASHWIN HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya and Ashwin is making out. Ashwin is too engrossed in the act but Navya is
reluctant. As we move closer to them, Navya cannot wait and she stops Ashwin.

NAVYA

I want to talk...

Ashwin tries to kiss her but she moves away her face. Ashwin looks a little annoyed. But
he tries to continue so Navya pushes him away hard. She composes herself and moves
to living room. Ashwin follows.

NAVYA

Workload bahut zyada hai naa tumhe... You know


mujhe yaad hee nahi hai humara last
conversation... You fuck but you can’t talk.

Ashwin feels small. He is listening to her but doesn’t how to react. Navya is angry but
she takes a deep sigh to stop her anger to explode. Ashwin walks to the kitchen. He
sees a pile of dirty paper bag lying there. This kind of represents their relationship. He
thinks of something, puts the entire dirty paper bag in a polyethene, takes it and walks in
the living room in front of Navya.

ASHWIN

This is our relationship... Call me a pervert or


whatever... Anyway you make me feel like that all
the goddamn time... I am...

Ashwin pauses and throws the polyethene out of the house. Then he looks at Navya and
says –

NAVYA

I am throwing the garbage that is you out of the


house. Fuck off.

Navya is stunned. She says –

Ashwin moves angrily inside the bedroom. Navya follows him with rage but Ashwin shuts
the door on her face hurting Navya’s nose. She is holding her nose and crying.

CUT TO:

INT. UNKNOWN HOUSE – DAY

Malti is standing in front of an air conditioner. She is having hot flashes. A voice comes
from the room.

UNKNOWN (O.S)

Malti ka mann aajkal kitchen se zyada A.C me laga


rehta hai... Kyun Malti... (This is going to be in
Marathi)

Malti feels embarassed and goes back to kitchen. We are at Malti as we hear a
conversation off screen. The conversation is between a boy and his parents. They are
opposing his marriage with a girl elder than him. He informs him that she is just 2 years
elder than him. The kind of bad remarks the parents say creates an emotional turmoil
within Malti. She finishes off her work, goes out of the room, takes the sunglasses kept
on the table and starts walking downstairs. She is feeling hot flashes and she gets so
anxious that everything blacks out.

Malti is feeling blank when a hand offers her water. She takes the bottle and drinks from
it. When she calms down a little bit, she sees Navya standing in front of her with a huge
luggage. Her nose has a bandage on it.

With a sunshine coming from behind to Navya, she looks like a ray of hope for Navya.

MALTI

Pata nahi kaise... Kabhi hota nahi hai aisa mujhe...

Navya smiles and asks –

Navya tries carrying her luggage by herself but she is unable to do that. Malti notices
this, while standing up she says –

Navya acts formal and says –

MALTI

Aapne paani pilaate vakt mujhe manage karne diya


kya...

They share a smile as Malti takes half of the luggage from Navya and they start climbing
stairs.

Malti and Navya talk while climbing stairs –

NAVYA

Aap yahaan rehte ho

MALTI

Nahi... Mai kaam pe aati hu idhar 3rd floor me or 2nd


floor me bhi karti thi pehle... Aap yahaan naye aaye
ho

NAVYA

Haan... 2nd floor... Ye wala ghar...

They reach Navya’s father house. Malti is inquisitive. She asks –

MALTI

Idhar pehle jo rehte the... Mai unke yahaan bhi

Silence between them. Malti remembers the day of funeral. By then, Navya opens the
door and both of them keep the bag inside the house though Malti is involved in her own
thoughts.

NAVYA

Paani...

Navya laughs at this.

MALTI

Nahi... Mai chalti hu ab...

NAVYA

Thank you so much... Umm

Navya pauses to ask Malti’s name.

MALTI

Malti...

Navya smiles and offers to shake hand

NAVYA

Navya...

They shake hands and Malti leaves. Navya shuts the door, thinks something and walks
to her window. She sees Malti walking in the ground floor. Navya shouts out to Malti.

NAVYA

Malti...

Malti looks at her.

NAVYA

Kal se aajana yahaan bhi...

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti is looking at herself realising she has aged. She hears the sound of auto rickshaw
from outside. She knows its Govind. She turns off the light of her house to avoid Govind.
Then she peeps from the window. Govind is standing outside. He gives a call to her. She
doesn’t pick up. He walks away disappointed.

(Music kicks in)

PBS 03 starts and following montage sequence plays out:

M1. Early Morning... Malti walks from her house as fast as he can to avoid Govind.

M2. Noon... Navya has not woken up only... She gets a call from the casting guy... She
doesn’t pick up...

M3. Day... Malti gets a call from Govind during work. She texts him back saying she is
busy. The way in which she text shows she doesn’t text usually.

M4. Evening... Malti notices Govind waiting for her at the gate of the building... She exits
from another gate...

M5. Night... Navya is sitting on bed, eating a big bowl of ice cream and reading the ways
to stay fit.

M6. Night... Malti realises she has gained weight.

M7. Midnight... Navya is exercising at midnight and listening to music. She is unable to
sleep. (Please note that out PBS will increase in this montage. She will be listening to
the same track)

M8. Midnight... Malti is wide awake. She misses Govind. She looks at his Whatsapp
picture.

M9. Midnight... We see in split screen. Malti and Navya are both about to send a
message to Govind and Ashwin respectively but Malti stops and Navya does.

M10. Morning... Navya opens her band aid. Sees her wound is fixed. Then she puts
another band aid. Takes a picture and sends it to Ashwin.

M11. Various sequences will be there where Malti is ignoring Govind contanstly while
feeling bad about it and on the other hand Navya getting ignored by Ashwin.

Song ends when Navya is waiting for Ashwin outside his house and she sees him

Malti is sitting on the sofa while Govind is standing still. An awkward silence between the
two, Govind speaks to break the silence -

MALTI

Galti tumhari nahi hai... Humari hai... Hum bade hai


humein sochna chahiye tha...

Govind looks guiltier than Malti.

MALTI

Govind gets disgusted by this. He thinks of something then says –

Govind move towards Malti, sits on his knees.

GOVIND

Ye naa aas pados mohalla aur samaaj humko nahi


aata samajh... Hum baarhvi tak padhe hai lekin
jitna humne samjha hai logo ko... Ye sab samaaj ka
niyam kanoon aadmi jaat banata hai... Apna hisab
se... Isliye behenchod ek chaalis saal ka aadmi ka
biwi guzar jaaye to vo bees saal ki bacchi byaah
leta hai... Ek aurat aisa nahi kar sakti lekin kyu...
Antar kya hai...

Govind looks into Malti’s eyes but there she is cold. This disappoints him. He gets up,
walks to the door and says –

GOVIND

Tumhe theek lagne lage sab to awaaz laga dena


pados me hee rehte hai...

Govind walks out of the house... He is clearly upset so is Malti...

CUT TO:

INT.BATHROOM, BAR – NIGHT

Navya is upset and her makeup has wiped off. We hear noises of loud music from
outside. She is looking at the mirror of the washroom and she creates a fake smile on
her face as moves out in enthusiasm.

CUT TO:

INT. DISCOTHEQUE, BAR – NIGHT

Loud music is playing. The place is crowded. Navya gulps two glasses of whisky. She is
dancing and Kallol is sitting near the bar counter noticing her.

CUT TO:

Navya is sitting in a corner. She opens her mobile phone to send her photos to Ashwin
but she sees he has blocked her.

CUT TO:

Navya drinks another round of glasses of whiskey.

CUT TO:

Nayva is dancing madly in the crowd. When the disco lights come on her face, we see
she is crying and upset.

CUT TO:

INT. STREET NEAR BAR – NIGHT

Nayva is sitting on the footpath. She is heavily drunk. She tries to call Ashwin but
realises she is blocked from calls too.

Kallol is passing from nearby. She looks at Kallol and starts walking towards him. She
stops him and says –

NAVYA

Would you mind giving me your cellphone?

Kallol looks at her, realises she is drunk but still gives her his phone. Navya calls Ashwin
from that phone, nobody picks the call. Kallol takes his phone back. Navya in extreme
desperation says –

NAVYA

Please phirse try karo naa...

Kallol tries the call again and Ashwin picks up, Navya almost snatches the phone.

NAVYA

Hello...

Ashwin cuts the call. Navya almost breaks down. She gives Kallol’s phone back.

NAVYA

I am sorry...

Kallol is silently looking at her. She can’t even walk properly. She starts walking away but
is about to fall down. Kallol holds her.

CUT TO:

INT/EXT. AUTO RICKSHAW – NIGHT

Nayva is dozed off on one side of auto rickshaw. Kallol is holding her hands tightly.

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is moaning. Kallol and Navya are having sex.

CUT TO:

Kallol lights a cigarette and Navya is lying on bed contemplating. She doesn’t look much
pleased by whatever has happened. Kallol offers her cigarette. She is staring at him,
judging his personality.

CUT TO:

EXT. NAVYA HOUSE – NIGHT

Nayva closes the door on Kallol’s face. He is thrown out of the house but he is still
smiling. He says to himself –

KALLOL

Kirdaar...

CUT TO:

Kallol is walking on the ground floor of the building. He looks at Navya’s window. Lights
are off. He bids good bye looking at the window.

Kallol leaves and we see Navya standing near the window looking at him go. She says
to herself –

NAVYA

Never again!

CUT TO:

EXT. PARK – EVENING

Malti is sitting in a park after work. She looks tired and she is sitting on a swing just
looking at poeple exercising, talking and roaming in the park. She sees a group of oldies
standing in a group where a very old man proposes an old woman of around same age.
Malti smiles looking at them, then thinks of something and starts walking. Hope in her
eyes.

EXT. LANE, MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti is dressed well and has makeup on her face. (We are seeing this kind of look for
the first time)

She is standing outside Govind’s house. She shouts –

MALTI

Goovind....

Govind comes out. He is wearing banyan. He is shocked to see Malti. Govind looks
inside his house to see if anyone else has heard it. His brother is engrossed in watching
television. Malti smiles and says –

MALTI

Daawat...

Govind signals her to wait and then rushes inside his house in excitement.

CUT TO:

EXT. LANE – NIGHT

Malti is waiting for Govind. Govind arrives in an auto rickshaw. He gets out of his auto
rickshaw. Takes Malti’s hand and make her sit in the auto rickshaw.

CUT TO:

INT. CHINEASE STALL - NIGHT

Malti and Govind are eating chinease. It’s a shady stall. Govind suddenly remembers
something; he holds Malti’s hands and takes her outside near his auto rickshaw. He
takes out the photo potrait from the back seat. He shows her the photo: It’s an old photo
of Malti’s mother and father (We have seen it in Malti’s steel case)

CUT TO:

INT/EXT. AUTO RICKSHAW – NIGHT

Govind is driving with Malti sitting behind. He is looking at her through rear mirror. Malti
tells him to focus on road.

CUT TO:

INT. BAR – NIGHT

Navya is waiting at a table for Kallol. Kallol arrives at his usual time and sees Navya. He

CUT TO:

Navya and Kallol are dancing and talking to each other trying to know each other.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti is sitting on sofa. Govind is dancing as Malti is watching him.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti and Govind are sleeping in foetal position.

INTERCUT:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya and Kallol are sleeping in a similar position.

(Please note that we will add a montage of Malti and Govind on beach where
Navya is sitting with Kallol and he is narrating her story. Navya notices Malti)

(SONG ENDS)

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – MORNING

Malti wakes up smiling next to Govind. She stares at him and she is clearly happy. She
is about to get up when suddeny she hears banging on the door. She gets uo hurriedly
to see who is it, Govind also gets up by the noise.

She opens the door and sees Gopal standing. He is angry. He has a bag in his hand. He
doesn’t even acknowledge her and goes directly inside the room.

Gopal beats up a half sleepy Govind badly, throws his bag on the face.

GOPAL

Dobara ghar mat aana...

Gopal passes by Malti. She is standing there stunned. Govind has blood on his face. He
looks at her with guilty eyes as he steps out from her house.

INT. UNKNOWN HOUSE, BUILDING – DAY

Malti is upset. She is working in the same house where she heard the conversation
between mother and son. She has hot flashes. The house is decorated as that guy from
the conversation is marrying the older girl. This annoys Malti.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE - DAY

Malti visits Navya house but she doesn’t open the door. Malti waits for sometime but
then she moves away.

CUT TO:

INT. ANOTHER HOUSE FROM BUILDING – LATER

Malti steals a toy from the house while working in the house, she notices a kid playing.

Malti keeps the toy back.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – DAY

Navya wakes up to find Kallol is gone. She realises she doesn’t have his number. When
she moves out of the room, she sees his number written on the wall. She smiles at this.

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – DAY

Navya is practicing an acting exercise of Nav Rasa looking at the mirror.

INTERCUT:

EXT. VARIOUS STREETS – DAY

Malti is walking through noisy streets. Amidst the large amount of crowd, she feels alone.

EXT. VERSOVA BEACH – DAY

Malti is sitting on the same abandoned boat Malti and Govind used to sit. She is
emotional.

CUT TO:

Malti is walking on the beach near the sea shores. She looks weak and unhealthy with

the sun on her head. It’s the hottest time of the day.

CUT TO:

Malti notices Govind sitting on the boat. Govind also sees her. Thier eyes meet. She
starts walking out of the beach. Govind wants to follow her but this time he has no
courage.

CUT TO:

INT/EXT. IRON WIELDING FACTORY – DAY

Govind is lookng at Gopal working in the factory. Govind gathers some courage and then
starts walking fast towards Gopal. He grabs Gopal by his collar. Govind says –

GOVIND

Galat kiye aap...

Govind leaves his collar and steps out...

CUT TO:

EXT. CASTING OFFICE – DAY

Navya is extremely happy today. She is waiting for her audition with great enthusiasm.
She sees Kallol in the office, waves her hand to him but he partially ignores her replying
very formally to her. This upsets her.

CUT TO:

INT/EXT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti reaches her house and sees the door is already open. She gets shocked and
rushes to her house.

She enters the house and see Gopal sitting there half drunk.

GOPAL

Nikal jaao yahaan se...

MALTI

Kyon...

Malti firmly says -

Gopal stands up; Malti is scared but doesn’t show it.

GOPAL

Dekho tum aur tumhari maa itne saal se reh rahi


ho... Humne kabhi kuch nahi virodh kiya... Karna ka
kuch tha bhi nahi... Govind tumhari madad kiya
hum tab bhi chup the... Par ab jo randaapa ho raha
hai naa... Nahi bardaasht kar paayenge... Aaj collar
pakad raha hai... Kal chappal bhi chala sakta hai...

Gopal steps out of the house. He turns around and says –

GOPAL

To ek ghanta me nikal lo yahaan se... Varna bacha


kucha ghar aur tumko dono ko tod denge... Phir
chali jaana police ke pass.

Malti is silently listening to all of this. She closes the door. Sees the entire house is
destroyed. Everything is lying on the floor.

CUT TO:

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti locks the door and starts walking out of the lane. She is upset.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is sitting with Kallol. Both are having coffee, Kallol is also smoking.

KALLOL

Why are you feeling bad?

NAVYA

Mujhe batana padega

kar hee leti ho...

NAVYA

KALLOL

I know... But why it bothers you... Vo mujhe nahi


pata... Naa mai janna chahta... Contemplate and
ask yourself...

Kallol stands up and come closer to her and kisses her on the forehead.

Kallol leaves. Navya is staring at the wall.

CUT TO:

EXT. BUS STOP – NIGHT

Navya is smoking. There is a cycle cigarette shop near the bus stop. Navya spots Malti
sitting in the bus stop. Malti is teary eyed. Navya stubs the cigarette on the ground and
walks to Malti.

NAVYA

Aaj aap kaam pe nahi aaye...

Malti composes herself looking at Navya. She gives a formal smile and says –

MALTI

Darwaaza band tha... Aap shayd so rahe the...

Navya was about to reply when Malti realises that she has her house’s keys. Before
Navya could say anything, Malti clarifies and says –

Aur chaabi ghar pe thi...

Navya smiles, she knows Malti is lying.

NAVYA

Coffee peene aayi ho...

MALTI

Haan... Bas thoda baith gayi...

Malti is sweating. There is a silence between the two. Both don’t know what to talk.
Navya says –

NAVYA

Theek hai Malti... Kal milte hai subah...

Navya leaves. Malti is sitting there quiet. In wide angle, we see everybody on the road is
either with someone or talking with someone on phone. Malti is alone.

CUT TO:

Navya is walking then she suddenly remembers she hasn’t paid the cigarette guy. Navya
walks back to the place and sees Malti crying alone. She keeps staring at her from a
distance.

Navya takes a deep sigh and walks to Malti. Malti seeing Navya tries to calm her self but
she cannot hide much of her tears. Navya asks Malti –

NAVYA

Aap ek favour karoge...

MALTI

Ji...

NAVYA

Mujhe bhook lag rahi hai... Yahaan kuch milega


nahi... Aap kuch bana sakte ho...

Malti nods in agreement. Navya smiles at her.

Malti is preparing food for Navya. Navya is standing beside her to give company. Navya
is trying to initiate and conversation but she is hesitant.

CUT TO:

Malti and Navya are eating Poha. Malti is upset but she is much calmer.

NAVYA

Maine aapko uss din beach pe dekha tha ek ladke


ke sath...

Boyfriend?

Navya has struck the wrong chord. Malti looks at her emotionally and she wants to
answer Navya but she breaks down in front of Navya. Navya stands up and goes to
kitchen. Malti is sobbing.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – SOMETIME LATER

Malti has a coffee mug in her hand. Navya is sitting close to her. Navya says –

NAVYA

Mere sath chalo... Police ko complaint karna


zaroori hai...

MALTI

Nahi... Galti humari hai sab yahi kahenge...

NAVYA

Malti... Aap samajhte kyu nahi ho... Kisi ko pasand


karna aapki galti nahi hai...

MALTI

Navya looks at Malti inquisitively.

INT/EXT. VARIOUS PLACES – FLASHBACK

A voice over of Malti will be there in the following sequence:

Malti in her 30’s... She is dressed like a married lady with a young man of around same
age.

Both of them get married in a small temple.

It’s a small village... Man goes out to work while Malti says him goodbye... That man also
drives a public auto rickshaw (a small tempo found mostly in small towns)

Man helping her in dialy chores... Taking her to various places in village...

Malti and man sleeping away from each other... Malti goes to sleep near him but there is
no response and no response...

Days pass by but things are same...

Malti confronting the man... Man crying on her lap... Malti is emotionless...

Malti leaves his house...

Malti sitting on a bus...

MALTI (V.O)

Humne shadi ki thi bhaag kar... Accha aadmi tha


vo... Hadd se zyada pyaar karta tha humse...
Amma ko jhoot bolke gayi thi ki ghumne jaa rahi
hu... Mandir me jaake shadi ki phir uske gaaon me
jaake rehne lagi... Sab... Har baat acchi thi... Sab
shaant tha lekin mujhe parivar chahiye tha aur vo
kamzor tha... Shuru me laga hichkichahat hai...

Malti is emotional. Navya doesn’t know how to react.

Aapke papa ke saath ek mitti aur aayi thi... Meri


maa thi... Mera iklauta aur aakhiri parivaar...

Hum koi rishta theek se nahi nibhaa paaye...


Humesha jo raasta lena chahiye tha... Jab aage
nikal gaye to laga U turn le lein...

Malti smiles after saying this. She has vented out. Malti’s last words echo to Navya. She
gives a fake smile. She is indulged in her own thoughts.

CUT TO:

INT. KALLOL FRIEND PLACE – DAY

Kallol opens the door. His friend was lying on the floor smoking up. Kallol sees Navya
and she hugs him tightly. Kallol’s friend runs inside the room as he was just wearing
shorts.

CUT TO:

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – DAY

Malti is opening the lock of her house... Govind’s sister-in-law Lata is peeping from her
house... She gathers courage and walks to Malti... She asks –

LATA

Baat kar sakte kya...

Malti stares at her angrily but then realises that she has nothing to do with it.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – LATER

Malti is restlessly sitting on the bed and she is tapping her feet on the ground due to

nervousness. Lata is also a little hesistant but she firmly.

MALTI

Malti doesn’t acknowledge it... Lata slowly gets up to leave... Malti looks at Lata and
asks –

MALTI

Aap bhi yahi sochti hai ki hum galat hai...

LATA

Mai kya sochti hoon usse farak nahi padta...

Saying this, Lata starts leaving and while about to leave says –

LATA

Aap govind ko galat mat samjho... Uski koi galti


nahi hai...

Usse to pata bhi nahi hai kya hua...

Malti says rudely –

MALTI

Pata hai...

LATA

Usne khana tak nahi khaya hai...

Sab galti inki hai mujhe pata hai par vo naa gusse
me kuch bhi karte hai... Humpe bhi haath utha dete
hai kabhi kabhi...

jaayenge... Uska jeevan barbaad ho jaayega...

Lata leaves. Malti thinks something then picks up her phone... She dials Govind’s
number...

MALTI

Beach pe milo...

Malti cuts the call then rushes to the kitchen.

CUT TO:

EXT. BEACH – NIGHT

Govind arrives at the boat area and sees Malti is already waiting for him... He walks to
Malti and she smiles at him... Govind sits...

For sometime both of them will be looking at the tides of sea. Nobody will speak then
Govind starts talking in a clarifying tone and puts her hand on his lips to shut him up...

Malti takes out a steel tiffin box and gives it to Govind...

MALTI

Pehle kuch khaao...

Govind takes one bite then offers the food to Malti but she denies and smiles.

MALTI

Humare beech kuch nahi ho sakta Govind par


humein tumhe bahut chahte hai... Chaahne ka
matlab sirf saath hona nahi hota hai... Humara
saath aaj hai kal nahi hai pata nahi... Humne apni
zidd pe apne gusse me apni bahut umar barbaad ki
hai... Tum mat karo... Humare liye bhi nahi... Aaj
hum hai to sab kuch chodhna chahte ho... Kal nahi
honge to akelapan kaatega tumko...

Govind is not saying anything but listening to her carefully.

Malti whispers in Govind’s ear and kisses his ear.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Malti is holding Govind’s hands and they enter Malti’s bedroom. Door is closed.

They are having sex. We don’t see it. We are outside the door.

CUT TO:

And with this a montage sequence starts:

M1. Malti and Govind sleeping close to each other

M2. Navya and Kallol are making out and having sex. Kallol doesn’t have protection but
he doesn’t care.

M3. Malti is having having hot flashes during work and other time.

M4. Navya buys pregnancy kit for Malti. Malti is standing at a distance hesistantly.

M5. Govind enters Malti’s place without getting caught from his brother.

M6. Navya gives another audition and fails.

M7. Navya tells this to Kallol but he doesn’t give much weightage.

M8. Malti not getting preganent... She behaves harshly with Govind... They have sex
again...

M9. Malti is having various health problems but she ignores it more or less.

M10. Navya and Kallol fighting with each other...

M11. Various sequences of Malti and Navya dealing with their individual lives... Both of
them have fun time together... A bond is getting built...

M12. Malti takes Govind to the fertility clinic... This upsets Govind... He leaves the auto
rickshaw there and walks away...

INT. ROAD – DAY

Malti is following Govind who is walking furiously... Malti catches hold off Govind and
stops him.

MALTI

Hum sirf check karaane ki baat karre hai...

GOVIND

Haath chodho humara...

MALTI

Kya ho gaya hai tumhe...

GOVIND

Tumko kya ho gaya hai haan... Itni choti itni tucchii


kaise ho gayi tum...

It’s a high traffic road. So they are talking loudly. This statement of Govind angers Malti.
She says –

MALTI

Kyun... Kaise tucche ho gaye... Check up ke liye


lee aaye to mardaangi ko chot pahunch gayi...

Govind doesn’t say anything. He just walks to his auto rickshaw, takes out some medical
papers and gives it to Malti who was following him.

Govind leaves immediately leaving Malti... Malti opens the medical paper and sees the
reports are all good.

In wide angle we see Malti is standing alone in the huge crowd of city... She feels small
and insignificant.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – NIGHT

Kallol is reading his script and practicing for a narration...

Navya is looking at her phone... A mobile app of period tracker is opened... She has
passed her usual date... She is tensed.

Malti is upset and looks sick... She is doing the various jobs at houses and Kallol is
instructing her about cleaning of the house while practicing... Food is also prepared...
Malti is overburdened and is getting irritated. Navya comes to Kallol and says –

NAVYA

My period is delayed...

KALLOL

So...

NAVYA

I am scared... Can we talk for five minutes...

KALLOL

Sab aa rahe honge narration ke liye... Can we talk


about it tomorrow...

NAVYA

Tum mujhe paanch minute nahi de sakte...

KALLOL

Nahi... This is really significant...

Navya gets annoyed... She goes to the washroom... She is sitting on the toilet seat with
the pregnancy kit... She is not sure if she should take the test or not...

CUT TO:

Malti is getting hot flashes and she is sweating thoroughly... She is cleaning Kallol’s
place and she is unintentionally disturbing Kallol... Malti looks at a fancy lighter and
slowly steals it and keeps it inside her bra... Kallol sees this and suddenly gets up, takes
a cigarette and starts looking for lighter... Malti realises what Kallol is looking for...

Malti takes a matchbox and gives it to Kallol. Kallol looks at her and says –

KALLOL

I want a lighter...

MALTI

Humein nahi pata...

Navya just comes back from the washroom and listens to the last sentence of Kallol...

NAVYA

Tameez se baat karo....

KALLOL

Seriously... Apni insignificance se overpower hone


ke liye tum iss chutiyape me saath dogi...

Navya stands there still then takes Kallol’s script and throws it out of the window... Malti
is looking at all of this... She is getting anxious...

NAVYA

INT/EXT. AUTO RICKSHAW –EARLY MORNIING

Malti and Navya are sitting in the auto rickshaw looking at different directions to each
other. Both are numb with shocking truths of their life.

CUT TO:

EXT. APNA JAHAAN SOCIETY – MORNING

Malti and Navya step out of the auto rickshaw. Navya pays the auto rickshaw driver and
when she turns to talk to Malti she sees Malti walking away.

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – MORNING

Navya washes her face continously with water till the time she starts coughing. She sits
on the sofa, tension on her face; she is holding her hair from her hands tightly. She
regrets things.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – MORNING

Malti is throwing things here and there. She is throwing plates off the kitchen. She is
ruining the bed. She doesn’t know how to react or who will stop her. After screaming and
crying, she stops after a certain point. She sits on the floor.

Malti drinks alcohol from a left out bottle of her mother.

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – DAY

Navya is seeing her contact list to see who she can call. She tries to call Kallol but his
number is not reachable.

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – EVENING

Navya is standing near window and smoking cigarette. She looks disillusioned. Her
phone rings. It’s the doctor from the hospital. Navya picks up the call. Doctor says from
the phone.

DOCTOR (O.S)

Hello... Is this Navya speaking?

NAVYA

Yes...

DOCTOR

Can you come and meet me...

CUT TO:

EXT. CCD – NIGHT

Navya is tensed already so she is smoking in front of the doctor too... Doctor... Mid
30’s... sharp and empathetic... gives a look to Navya... Navya stubs the cigarette on ash
tray...

NAVYA

Sorry...

DOCTOR

It’s okay... Tumhari choice hai... Mere saamne mat


peeyo... And be aware of the fact that it’s harmful...

Navya nods in a yes. Doctor takes a sip of coffee then says –

DOCTOR

I am concerned about Malti... Every woman goes


through this... But vo hadd se zyada shocked thi...

EXT. AUTO RICKSHAW – NIGHT

Navya is sitting in the rickshaw. It’s raining in the city. Doctor’s words are going on in her
head.

DOCTOR (V.O)

What stands female apart from men? The power to


give birth... The power to be a mother... For that
one thing, they bear pain every month for half of
their lives... You know what’s worse, losing that
power forever... Menopause ke physical aspect se
jyada impact uske psychological le leta hai...

Over this voice over, in intercut we also see Malti suffering from all the symptoms.

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – NEXT DAY

Navya visits Malti. She knocks the door of Malti. Door doesn’t open. Navya leaves. She
sees Govind staring at her.

INT. MALTI HOUSE – DAY

Malti sees a dream where everybody who loved her and who she felt she has wronged
them is laughing at her. This includes Malti’s husband, her mother and Govind.

CUT TO:

Malti wakes up in shock.

CUT TO:

Malti puts on the song on tape recorder. ‘Sooraj Ki Garmi Se’ plays on the recorder.

(Music kicks in)

This song plays out in the following sequence:

M1. Malti sits on the sofa... Her eyes closed... She is trying to calm herself.

M2. Navya is sitting on the sofa. She takes out two beer cans from a bag. She takes one
sip of it and then realising her physical condition, she throws off the two bottles.

M3. Malti is sitting in a temple. A large function is happening in the temple. Malti feels
calm here.

M4. Navya is sitting in the bar looking at the door. She expects Kallol there.

M5. Malti is roaming around the roads of Versova. Every smiling family hurts her.

M6. Navya calls her actress friend but she cuts the call and replies she is in a meeting
for a film. This is a personal blow for Navya.

M7. Malti is crying looking at photos of her deceased mother. She realises now how her
mother used to feel alone.

M8. Navya doesn’t know who to talk to. She is looking for a person to talk.

M9. Malti is peeping from her window. This reminds her of her mother doing the same
thing.

M10. Navya is throwing off in a wash basin.

M11. Malti is bathing with hot water. She doesn’t care if she gets burned.

FADE TO:

M12. Navya takes Malti to hospital. Malti is given therapies by the doctor; she listens to it
very reluctantly.

M13. Malti is speaking about her problems emotionally; a male doctor comes so she
leaves the room.

CUT TO:

M14. Navya takes Malti to a cinema hall. Everyone is laughing inside the theatre apart
from Malti and Navya...

CUT TO:

EXT. CINEMA HALL – NIGHT

Malti and Navya steps out of the theatre... Navya is trying to call Kallol and Malti just
wants to take auto rickshaw but no auto rickshaw is stopping.

Navya still occcupied on her phone tells phone –

NAVYA

Malti auto dekho naa...

Malti keeps looking for an auto rickshaw. She is irritated by Navya’s cranky attitude.
Navya is trying to call but Kallol isn’t there. Navya gives an angry look to Malti.

MALTI

Mai ghar ka kaam karti hai... Baahar ka nahi...


Mere haath me thodi kuch hai...

Sadness in Malti’s words... Navya’s phone battery dies... Navya gets angry at Malti’s
reply and the entire situation

Navya throws her phone on the ground and walks to get an auto rickshaw in the middle
of the road... Malti walks to pick up her broken phone... Malti looks disappointed by
Navya’s behaviour.

Navya finds an auto rickshaw... Signals Malti to come... Malti walks to her, gives her
phone and says –

MALTI

Hum chale jaayenge khud...

Malti starts walking away... Navya’s ego is hurt... She keeps staring at Malti... Navya also
gets off the auto rickshaw...

Navya stops Malti...

Phir phone kaahe patak rahi haain... Gussa sabko


aata hai madam... Aap apna nuksaan karke sahi
nahi karri hai... Chutiya hai vo ladka aapko nahi
dikhta...

Navya doesn’t say anything but keeps staring at Malti in disgust.

MALTI

Maaf kijiye hum zyada bol gaye... Jab zindagi


kathin ho naa lekin gussa karne ki haisiyat naa ho
tab... Jaane dijiye aap nahi samjhengi...

Malti is walking fast... Navya follows her faster...

NAVYA

Mai tumhare sath thi har vakt... I broke up with my


boyfriend kyunki usne tumse badtameezi ki... Malti
mujhe pata hai you are suffering but problems sabki
life me hai... Meri mee bhi...

Malti stops at this... She looks at Navya and asks –

MALTI

Kya dikkat hai aapko... Kaam nahi hai aapke pass?


Kaam mil gaya to aapka kismat badal jaayega...
Mera to nahi badal sakta naa...

Mujhe kaatne daudta hai apna ghar apna kaam


apna soorat... Mai nahi baccha kar sakti... Bataiye

Silence... Navya walks away... Malti is looking at her go... She knows what Navya
meant.

INT. NAVYA COUSIN HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is sitting in her cousin’s room... He comes with a glass of water and some snacks.
Navya takes a sip of water then says –

NAVYA

Mujhe address do...

COUSIN

Are you sure?

NAVYA

I am preganent Suyash... I think I am fucking sure...

COUSIN

Yaar jisse mai maal score karta hoon... Uska janne


wala hai... That is why I am asking...

Anyway I will accompany you...

NAVYA

Cousin gives a look to her...

Malti sees Navya taking an auto... Malti gets suspicious and she follows Navya

INT. BASTI – DAY

Navya waits in the reception of a small clinic... She submits huge amount of money to
them...

When her turn is about to come, she realises she don’t want to do it... The person of the
clinic refuses to pay her back... Malti reaches there searching Navya...

Navya is given a tablet before the planned abortion... Navya starts fainting... Malti
literally fights with them and take Malti safely out of there.

CUT TO:

INT. MALTI HOUSE – DAY

Navya wakes up in Malti’s house... She is scared as hell... Malti and Navya shares
experiance... Navya confesses she wronged Kallol... He was clearly out of line...

Malti convinces Navya to keep the baby for her sake... Navya agrees...

Malti and Navya hug each other... Malti does a small baby shower of Navya...

CUT TO:

Montage sequence in various places:

Malti opens the yellow sweater, starts stitching it.

Navya still tries to find Kallol.

Malti misses Govind. She has realised her mistake.

Malti taking care of Navya’s health ignoring her own declining health.

Navya gets failed in another audition. So she joins casting office in casting team...

Navya dealing with symptoms of pregnancy and Malti of menopause... The struggle is
different but the suffering is same...

Navya goes to her friend’s screening where she spots Kallol.

Kallol is there in a pitch meeting... Navya arrives there and creates a scene ruining

Kallol’s friend advices him to meet Navya and apologise to Navya... Navya still can’t
believe he is gonna be a father... He is not ready for it...

INT. NAVYA HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is regretting, her actions of the bar... Malti also makes her realize that she was
wrong... Malti also tells Navya how she wronged Goving and how she put the weightage
of her own expereinces on Govind...

Kallol arrives with presents... Navya hugs him and as they begin a intimate conversation
Malti leaves...

CUT TO

EXT. BUILDING GROUN FLOOR – NIGHT

Malti is waling out of the building... she spots the doctor (the abortion)... Doctor run as he
sees her... She runs after him... When she confronts the doctor... Doctor informs her...
Kallol brought the doctor to convince Navya to abort... Malti leaves from there

CUT TO

EXT. STREET - DAY

Malti spots Kallol... confronts him and beats him in the public... Malti acts like a
mad person... Polices arrests Malti... Kallol leaves from there humiliated...

INT. NAVYA PLACE – DAY

Neighbor informs Navya about Malti’s incident...

husband doing her shoelace... Kallol feels small by looking at it...

Govind bails out Malti from the police station (MUSIC KICKS IN)...

Montage of Malti & Govind going to Marine Drive...

EXT. MARINE DRIVE – NIGHT

Malti kisses Govind

INT. NAVYA PLACE – NIGHT

Kallol apologies to Navya... He confesses about his failed film career... Navya
confesses why she loves Kallol (TOXIC LINE)

Navya tells Kallol why the kid is important to Malti... Both of them decide to have
the baby...

CUT TO

INT. HOSPITAL – DAY

Malti joins Kallol and Navya in Navya’s check up... Malti thank the doctor for
helping her for dealing with menopause... Kallol apologises to Malti...

Kallol tells Navya that he will join work as an assistant to help them financially...

CUT TO:

INT. NAVYA HOUSE - DAY

A week later... Navya is told to vacate the house by bank officials to cover up for
father’s loan he took during his last days...

Navya doesn’t have a place to go...

Malti asks Navya to shift to her place for some days...

Navya enters in Malti’s house… She doesn’t like at once but she knows she has to live
here… On asking Malti she replies it’s decent…

Navya awakes with bhajan… it irritates her… malti calls her for breakfast but navya
doesn’t want to get up this soon… She pretendsto sleep when Malti checks on him…

INT. CASTING BAY – DAY

Casting guy telling Navya the challenge she may face in her career die to pregnancy…
Navya listening him, quietly… it’s disappointing her but she doens’t challenge him…

CUT TO

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – EVENING

Navya coming back, hopeless… Her phone rings, it’s Kallol…

CUT TO

EXT. HOTEL ROOM – EVEING

Kallol confesses that he has cheated on her… he gets silent after saying it, sobbing,
waiting for her to say something….

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – EVEING

Navya stops, she’s angry and crying… doesn’t know what to say…

CUT TO

INT. HOTEL ROOM - EVEING

Kallol wants her to shout on him, abuse him, curse him but don’t leave him… Her silence
makes him anxious, he promises her to take care of her and the baby all the time, he
would never leave her again… and after all he gets “When are you returing?” from her…
He replies soon…

EXT. MALTI HOUSE – EVEING

Navya disconnects the call, cant stop sobbing…

INT. MALTI HOUSE – LATE EVEING

Navya is smoking… Malti enters… she doesn’t like her smoking at his stage… Malti
takes her cigarettes and put it to ashtray… this offends Navya… She argues with Malti
on controlling her life.. Malti explains that she concerns about her health… But Navya
takes it too far that as she’s living in her house she can’t force her what to do and what
not to… navya lights up another cigarette and smokes in front of Malti… stays still,
looking at her, crying… navya looking at her with anger… Malti leaves…

CUT TO

EXT. VERSOVA-MADH JETTY PORT – EVENING

Govind sees Malti rushing towards the boat, crying, covering her face… Govind senses
that she’s not alright… he goes after her… Calls her name… but she’s gone…

CUT TO

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Govind comes to see Navya to know what happened… Navya know calmed down…
tells him that she’s trying to grab her baby… But Govind tells her why baby is so
important to her… he also tells her about her marriage and broken dreams… Navya
suddenly realizes her mistake… She sits back…

CUT TO

EXT. VERSOVA – DAY/EVENING/NIGHT

Govind is rushing to different houses, asking if they have seen Malti… Navya is also
asking in the society ladies about Malti with no success… Govind is standing at the jetty
port closely looking at every person coming from the jetty… It’s been night Govind is still
there… Navya sitting on the bus stands women are coming and leaving but navta can’t
see Malti…

CUT TO

INT. MALTI HOUSE – NIGHT

Navya is smoking, looking terrible… Govind is also there, looks like hasn’t slept from
couple of days… Navya crying… she throw the cigarette pack and one on her hand…
Screams…

EXT. BUS STOP – DAY

Navya and Kallol sitting at the bus stop… Navya confessing about what she have
done… Kallol consoles her… Navya telling what impact she has made on her life and
the people around her…

In a montage, we see Govind in sitting at jetty port... Staring at people coming form the
jetty…

Kallol holds Navya’s hand… She relaxes her head on his shoulder…Navya feels labor
pain… and it increases… Kallol takes her to hospital…

We see malti sitting on a window seat, bus is running on it’s speed on a highway…
