PRAYER
A.M
Having already woken up, get up
from your bed, then, without laziness
and with faith, stand in front of your
icons, breathe a few times, put aside
your earthly tasks and concentrate on
Christ. Make the sign of the Cross, and
then begin saying:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Continue the following prayers slowly
and calmly. If you feel that you do not
have much time, it is better to say
some prayers but carefully and with
your heart set on them. That is better
than reciting them all without your
heart.
Glory to You, O Our God, glory to You!
O Heavenly King, Paraclete, Spirit of Truth,
who art everywhere and fillest all things, Treasure
of all that is good, and Dispenser of Life, come
and dwell in us, purify us from every stain and
1
save our souls, O Gracious One.
2
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal
One, have mercy on us (3 times).
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the
Holy Spirit, now and always, world without end.
Amen.
Oh, Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Oh Lord,
forgive our sins. O Sovereign, absolve our
transgressions; O Most Holy, look upon and heal
our infirmities for the glory of Thy Name.
Lord, have mercy (3 times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the
Holy Spirit, now and always, world without end.
Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy
name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our good
bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us

from evil.

fear. Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, through
the prayers of Your Holy Mother have mercy on
us!
Lord have mercy. (12 times)
6
And he ascended into heaven and is seated at
the right hand of the Father.
And he will come again in glory to judge the
living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no
end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-
Giver, who proceeds from the Father, who with the
Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the Prophets.
And in the Church which is One, Holy, Catholic
and Apostolic.
And I confess one baptism for the remission of
sins.
And I await the resurrection of the dead.
And the life of the age to come. Amen.
Psalm 50
(Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday)
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your
great mercy; according to your abundant
goodness, blot out my iniquity. Wash me more
and more from my iniquity and purify me from
my sins. For I acknowledge my faults and my sin
7
is always before me. Against you, you alone, have
I sinned and done wrong before you; therefore
you are recognized as just in your judgment and
sovereign in your judgement. Consider that I was
formed in wickedness and in sin my mother
conceived me. Because, You who love the truth
within, you reveal to me the deep mysteries of
your wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I
shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than
snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, and my
broken bones will rejoice. Turn your face from
my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in
me a pure heart, O God, and renew within me
8
pleases you. If I offered you a holocaust, you
wouldn't want it. The sacrifice to God is the
repentant spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O
God, You will not despise. In your goodness, Lord,
treat Zion kindly and rebuild the walls of
Jerusalem. Then you will accept the sacrifice of
justice, the offerings and the burnt offerings. Then
victims will be offered to you on your altar.
First Prayer -
MondayWritten by Saint Macarius the Great
O God, purify me, a sinner, for I have never
done anything good before Thee; deliver me from
the evil one, and may Thy will be done in me, that
I may open my unworthy lips without
condemnation, and praise Thy Holy Name of
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and
unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Second Prayer -
MondayWritten by Saint Macarius the Great
As I awake from my sleep, I offer Thee, O
9
Saviour, hymns of praise, and prostrating myself I
beseech Thee: grant that I may not fall asleep in
the death of sin, but have mercy on me, O Thou
who wast willingly crucified, I pray Thee hasten to
raise me up, for I am prostrate in the indolence of
my sins, and cast down
Third Prayer -
MondayWritten by Saint Macarius the Great
As I awaken from sleep, I hasten to You, O
Sovereign, Lover of mankind, and through Your
goodness I strive to accomplish Your work, and I
beseech You with my prayer to help me always in
all things, and to free me from all evil, from all the
bad things in the world, from all the attacks of the
evil one. Save me and take me to Your eternal
Kingdom. For You are my Creator, Provider of all

that is good, and all my hope is in You, and I give
You glory, now and always and forever and ever.
Amen.
Fifth Prayer -
TuesdayWritten by Saint Macarius the Great
Lord Almighty God, who receives from your
heavenly powers the thrice holy hymn, receive also
from me, your unworthy servant, this song of the
night, and grant me every year of my life and every
hour to glorify you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
now and always and for ever and ever. Amen.

Sixth Prayer - WednesdayWritten
by Saint Basil the Great
Almighty Lord, God of powers and of all flesh,
who dwellest on high and carest for the lowly, who
looks upon hearts and bodies, who clearly foresees
the secrets of men, Light without beginning and
eternal, immutable and unchangeable, immortal
King, accept our prayers which we now offer to
you with unclean lips, trusting in your immense
mercy. Forgive us all our sins committed in
thought, word and deed, consciously or
unconsciously, and cleanse us from every stain of
the flesh and spirit. Grant us to pass the night of
this present life with an attentive heart and sober
thoughts. Always awaiting the second shining
coming of your only begotten Son, our Lord God
and Savior, Jesus Christ,
1
2
and divine Kingdom of His glory, where the voice
of those who celebrate and the ineffable joy of
those who contemplate the inexpressible beauty of
Your face never cease. Because you are the true
light that illuminates and sanctifies all things, and
the entire universe praises you forever. Amen.

Seventh Prayer - Thursday
Written by Saint Basil the Great
We bless you, O Most High God and Lord of
mercy. You are always doing for us innumerable,
great and inscrutable things, glorious and
marvelous. You allow us to sleep as a respite from
our weaknesses and rest from the burdens of our
weary flesh. We thank you that You have not
destroyed us for our sins and on the contrary, You
have loved us as always and even though we are
plunged into despair, You have raised us up to
praise Your power. We therefore implore that in
Your incomparable goodness You would enlighten
the eyes of our understanding and lift our minds
from the heavy sleep of indolence; open our
mouths and fill them with Your praise,
1
4
so that we may be able without distraction to sing to
and confess You, who are God glorified in all things
and by all, the eternal Father, with Your only begotten
Son, and You, the all-holy and good and life-giving
Spirit, now and always and to the ages of ages. Amen.
1
5
To the desperate, you who are My God, My
Creator and My Savior, Save me! Take into
account my faith instead of my actions. Oh my
God! Because You will not find acts that could
justify me, but that my faith will be sufficient
to justify me. So that it may suffice and I may
be absolved, and make me a partaker of Your
eternal glory, and that You may remove me
from the clutches of the evil one, O God, and
may I boast that I have separated myself from
Your hands and Your light. Oh Christ, my
Savior! Whether I like it or not, save me!
Hurry, quickly, quickly, for I am perishing.
You are my God from my mother's womb.
Grant me, O Christ, to love You even now, just
as I once loved sin, and also to work for You
without laziness, as I once worked for the Evil
One. But above all I will work for You, my
Lord and God, Jesus Christ, all the days of my
life, now and always, and forever and ever.
Amen.

To our Holy Guardian Angel
Oh Holy Angel, intercede for my unhappy
soul and my passionate life, do not abandon
me, nor distance yourself from me because of
my intemperance. Do not give the deceitful
demon power over me because of the violence
of my mortal body. Strengthen my poor and
weak will and guide me on the path of
salvation. Oh Holy Angel of God, guardian and
protector of my body and of my unfortunate
soul, forgive me all the afflictions that I have
caused you during all the days of my life, and
for all the sins that I may have committed
during the past night. I ask you to protect me
during the present day, and protect me,
preserve me and give me your help against all
temptations of the enemy, so that I may not
bother God with any sin. And pray to the Lord
for me, that He may strengthen me in His fear,
and make me, His servant and servant, worthy
of His goodness. Amen.

Creed - Symbol of Faith
I believe in one God, the Father
Almighty, Creator of Heaven and
Earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only
begotten Son of God, born of the Father before
all ages; Light from Light, true God from true
God, born, not created, consubstantial with the
Father, through whom all things were made.
And who for us men and for our salvation,
came down from heaven, was incarnate of the
Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became
man.
And he was crucified for us under Pontius
Pilate; he suffered and was buried.
And he rose again on the third day
according to the Scriptures.
And he ascended into heaven and is seated
at the right hand of the Father.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit
by Ephrem the Syrian - Tuesday
Lord King of Heaven, Comforter, Spirit of
Truth, have mercy and pity on me, your sinful and
unworthy servant, and absolve all the sins I have
committed today as a human being, and not only as
a man, but even worse than a beast, my voluntary
and involuntary sins committed in conscience or
ignorance, those of my youth and by false
suggestions, those that are the fruits of recklessness
or affliction. If I have sworn by your Name, or
have vilified it in my thought,

or I have reproached someone, or in my anger
I have insulted or slandered.
If I have grieved anyone, or if I have become
angry for nothing, if I have lied, if I have slept
unnecessarily, if a beggar has come to me and I
have despised him, if I have caused grief to my
brother or argued with him, or if I have judged
anyone, if I have become conceited, or proud, or if
anger has gotten the better of me, or if during
prayer my mind has been distracted by the
fascination of this world, if my imagination has
indulged in impure thoughts, if I have given myself
over to gluttony or drunkenness, or if I have
laughed excessively, or thought evil, if I have
coveted another's property, or uttered illicit words,
or mocked at my neighbor's faults when my own
are innumerable, or have neglected prayer, or have
incurred any other sin that I cannot remember, all
this and much more,
