Each group will be given a film title. What you are going to do is to
choose 1 person from a team acts out a word or phrase, and the
other members of the team attempt to guess what the title is being
act.
Each group will be given a 2 minutes time to guess the title.

“Pre-production work in Theater”

At the end of the lesson, the learner should be able


to:
 Identify different phases in the production
process,
 Perform an original piece based on a
Philippine theater and performance style, and
 Appreciate the importance of understanding
every form and style of Philippine theater.
Please read the definition of terms also.
Definition of terms:

Pre-production- is the process of planning some of


the elements involved in a film, television show, play
or other performance.
Publicist- a person responsible for publicizing a
product, person, or company.
Floorplan- a scale diagram of the arrangement of
EXPLORE rooms in one story of a building.
Alright, before we proceed let’s have an activity again called
“Rapid Fire”
With the same group. I will give each group a paper where all
the production member in a theater is written on it, then once I
read out a definition, all you have to do is to raise the paper
where you think match to the definition I’ve read. The team with
the most points at the end wins the game.
Okay, let’s start!

1.He/she is the one who finances the production and act as a


basic business administrator. They take charge in seeking funds
to produce the work and sometimes act as a publicist.

2. He/she starts the work even long before the pre-production

Alright, and now another activity with your same group. This
activity called,” director’s role challenge”. Choose 1 leader from
your group as your director, and other member as an actor. I will
give a short story script to the designated directors, and they are
the one who provide instructions and suggestions to the actors
on how to portray the characters, their movements, and
expressions.
Once we get started, the director will read the whole script and
the actors will also start to act. I will give you 5 minutes to
practice the script and 1 minute to perform.

(Teacher give the script to the directors of each group)

And now, go back to your designated group. We will be having a
performance task called “123 action”. Choose 1 leader to your
group as the narrator who read your story, and the other will be
the actors. I will provide you a synopsis of an original piece of
Philippine theater titled “TAHANAN: homecoming”, and your
group will be the one who make a short script and how to act it
out.
Everybody read the rubrics for your activity.

You will be given 10 minutes to create a short script and


practice on how you portray the scenario, and 2 minutes to
perform.
Title: “Tahanan: Homecoming”
Tahanan means home in Filipino, and this play explores the
concept of homecoming and the different meanings it holds for
individuals. It follows the journey of a young Filipino who has
been living abroad and decides to return to their homeland.
Scene 1: Departure
 Show the emotions and conflicts they experience
as they bid farewell to their loved ones.
Scene 2: Life Abroad
 Depict the challenges and experiences the main
character faces while living in a foreign country.
Scene 3: The Call of Home
 Show the reason behind their decision like the
main character feels a strong longing to return to
their homeland.
Scene 4: Homecoming
Showcase the main character’s arrival in the

Philippines and their reunion with family and
friends.
Scene 5: Rediscovering Culture
 Showcase cultural celebrations, rituals, or any
activities.
Scene 6: Epilogue
 End the play with a hopeful and inspiring
message about the power of homecoming and
the significance of cultural identity.

V. EXTEND:
For your assignment, watch a musical play titled “Alam ni Lola
yan” by PETA Theater Online on youtube. Then after watching,
discussed your observations, analyze the production elements,
and reflect on how the pre-production work contributed to the
overall success of the performance.
Write it in a 1 whole sheet of paper.
