Ans 1. Windows Explorer is a program that is efficient for viewing files and folders in MS
Windows.

Ans 2. Name, Date, Type, Size


Ans 3. CD burning is the process of copying data to CD/DVD.
Ans 4. A [► ] sign indicates that the folder contains subfolders. If you click the
[► ] sign, itshows the subfolders inside, and at the same time the [► ] sign changes
to [▼ ] sign. This process is called expanding of a folder. If you click the [▼ ] sign
which is in frontof a folder, the expanded subfolders collapse back.
Ans 5. (a) Libraries in Windows 7 : Libraries are user-defined collections of content. It is a
kind offolder in Windows used to manage documents, music, pictures and other files that are

stored in several locations but hide the actual location.


(b) Copy / Paste option : Copy command is used to copy a file/folder and Paste
command is used to paste the file/folder at another location. These are present in the
Clipboard group. 1
Ans 6. To open On-screen keyboard, follow the
given steps :Step-1 : Click Start button.
Step-2 : Click All Programs option.
Step-3 : Click the Accessories option.
Step-4 : Click the Ease of Access option.
Step-5 : Now, click the On-Screen Keyboard option.The On-Screen Keyboard appears.
Step-6 : Now, type using the mouse or other pointing device by just clicking the
required key.
Ans 7. (a) To change the views of file and folder or a tablet, steps are :
Step-1 : Tap ES File Explorer icon to open it. A new screen appears.
Step-2 : Tap icon at the bottom of the screen. Many options appear.

Step-3 : Tap Settings option. A new screen appears.


Step-4 : Tap View option under View settings section. A dialog box appears.
Step-5 : Select any of the following options like Icons, List, Details to change theview.
(b) To sort files and folders, follow the given steps:
Step-1 : Tap ES File Explorer icon to open it. A new screen appears.
Step-2 : Tap icon at the bottom of the screen. Many options appear.

Step-3 : Tap Settings option. A new screen appears.


Step-4 : Tap Sort By option under View settings section. The Sort By dialog box
appears.
Step-5 : Select any of the following options like Name, Type, Size etc.
Step-6 : Now, tap the Ascending/Descending button to sort the files and folders in
ascending/descending order.
Ans 8. The different viewing options from the Layout group of View tab are as follows :
Extra Large Icons : This option displays your files and folders as extra-large sized icons.

Large Icons : This option displays your files and folders as large sized icons.
Medium Icons : This option displays your files and folders as medium sized icons.

Small Icons : This option displays your files and folders as small sized icons.
List : This option displays the list of files and folders preceded by small icons. This view is
very useful when your folder contains too many files and you want to view the list for a
particular file name.
Details : This option lists the files and folders with their detailed information including
name, type, size and date when the file/folder is last modified.
Tiles : This option displays your files and folders as icons. The icons are larger than those in List view
and Details view.
Content: This option displays your files and folders in content format with name, type,
size and the date when the file is last modified.

B. Computers In Everyday Life (Application-based Questions)


Ans 1. The steps to create a shortcut of any file/folder on the Desktop are as follows :

Step-1 : Select the file/folder.


Step-2 : Right-click on the selected file/folder and click the Send to option.
Step-3 : Select the Desktop (create shortcut) option.
Ans 2. Nero, a CD burning software need to be installed on the computer to copy
the project onCD.
