METHOD STATEMENT FOR MOBILE CRANE LIFTING OPERATION

Project name: Cargo hoisting using 1 x 160 tons mobile crane (SH215)

Work description : Hoisting of cargo


1. Checking of cargoes by lifting team

2. Checking of Jurong Port space

3. Arrival of 160 tons lorry crane

4. Upon given approval for deployment, deploy the mobile crane into position within the desired lifting radius.

5. Fully extend the outriggers of the mobile crane and place the outriggers on the crane mat

6. Raise the boom slowly and rigging of the cargoes

7. Upon receiving the clearance for lifting, rig up the equipment with the presence of lifting supervisor, signal
man and rigger man.

8. Tension the lifting slings but do not lift up the equipment.

9. With a clear signal from the signalman, slowly lift the cargo just above the ground , both crane follow the
instruction/signal by the lifting supervisor .

10. Check the crane stability during this operation.

11. Continue with the hoisting if there’s not sign of instability and ensure safe operation throughout (In the event
that there’s crane instability, slowly lowered the equipment back to the ground and rectify the problem).

12. Swing the equipment to its designated position and offload it on to desire location.

13. Rigger man will then finally release the lifting slings upon receiving the clear signal from signalman.

14. After the hoisting of cargoes, the lorry crane will retract the outriggers and boom
SAFETY PRE-CAUTIONS
1. Before the start of the operation, all personnel involved in the operation will be briefed on the details of the
operation (Toolbox meeting).
2. All the operatives that engaged in the operation to be made known about the type of cargo we are handling
and the rigging requirement.
3. All workers to be provided with safety boot, safety hand glove and hard hats and using necessary PPE
required during the entire operation.

3) Preliminary Check Prior to Starting Operations

Before commencing the operations, the following checks will be carried out

• All spare contingency equipment / materials are available


• Transportation path from storage area to port is clear from obstacles
• Coordination information has been notified to all concerned parties
• All equipment have been functionally checked
• Tool box talk has been carried out and signed
• All required personnel are available for the operations
