COURSE INFORMATION
The HIV/AIDS epidemic poses a severe threat to global health, development, and security. HIV and
AIDS education therefore remains an essential worldwide method to prevent the disease from
spreading. This specific education is aimed to reaching all ages, especially young adults, who are
sexually active.
The objectives of this course are to:
1. To increase awareness on the current spread of HIV-AIDS at the global, regional and local levels
and factors associated with the transmission of HIV-AIDS.
2. To understand natural history & basic clinical aspects of HIV-AIDS and biological & behavioral
prevention of HIV-AIDS.
3. To understand unique characteristics of the youths and their roles in the prevention of HIV-
AIDS.
4. To increase awareness and understanding on some specific youths problems related to HIV-
AIDS transmission: behavioral problems, cigarette smoking, unsafe sexual behaviors, and drug
& substance abuse.
5. To understand psycho-social impacts of HIV-AIDS and promote measures to address
stigmatization of HIV-AIDS.
6. Identify the difference between HIV and AIDS
7. Explain the impact of HIV/AIDS on country
8. Describe supportive managements.
