On my family’s first trip to Phan Thiet, we decided to go by car ourself. But unluckily, our car broke
down in the middle of the road so we have to call emergency tow service. We were exhausted by the
time we arrived at our hotel so we decided to extend our holidays to rest up. However, we used that

Last month, I had a wonderful birthday party and it was the best birthday party that I have had in
years. The party was set up at a fancy restaurant so Linh, my best friend want to buy me something
nice. On the day of the party, Linh arrived with not just one but two presents for me: one is a cake
and the other a beautiful T-shirt.
The cake was very beautifully designed and colorful. She even write some meaning wishes for for me
on the cake. Personally, I don’t like cake because it’s too sweet but this cake was very light and subtle,
which I enjoyed thoroughly.
Speaking about the T-Shirt, Linh pick for me a simple and plain T-shirt. This is because she is a very
careful person and she wants to avoid buying shirt with pictures or prints, which can be very offensive
sometimes. I have to agree with her on this and I have to admit, her taste in fashion never fails me.

I would like to talk about ___
Last year, I watched a tutorial (tiu tơ ri ồ) video of a famous singer who taught people how to perform
a ballad song. The video shows some basic and vital (vai tồ) techniques (tech niks) to sing ballad. I
learned a great deal from that video, from building my confidence and learning English.
There is one song that I always remember is from Taylor Swift, who is super famous around the world.
This ballad song is very catchy and emotional.
An interesting fact is that I have a niece and she has a huge (hiu j) passion for music. She believes it
has a calming effect on us. Although she was very shy (shai) about her ability, she wanted to learn
some ballad songs from me. So I promise to teach her some ballad songs. After three weeks, she
started to get the hang of it. To think of it, teaching her was quite a fun experience. If I have the
chance, I would love to see her perform live one day on the stage.
Two months ago, she informed me that there was a music competition in her school and she took
part in it. She was nervous (nơ vợt s) as ballad is not common in Vietnam but she still went for it.
Luckily, somehow she won the gold medal and later on, she admitted that choosing to sing ballad was
the right decision.
