Procession of First Communicants with their parents
INTRODUCTION: (to be read by the lector)
Dearly beloved children and parents, good morning! We are gathered here today to
join our brothers and sisters who will receive for the very first time the Holy Body and
Blood of Christ in the form of bread and wine. This sacred meal reminds us of all of Jesus
himself who suffered his life for us that we may be saved. As a recipient of this body and
blood, we are called to live a life like his – a life meant for others.
In this special encounter with the Lord, we are happy to have with us Rev. Fr. Cesar
A. Ramantin SSJV, our celebrant. Let us now stand and sing joyfully our entrance hymn.
Entrance Song/ Processional: (Come with Praise)
Refrain
Come with praise, people of God!
Come with your heart’s thanksgiving.
Sing for joy, house of the lord! Sing of your bounteous blessing!
I
Come, you poor of the land, all who live with hearts of hunger,
Come and taste the love of the lord and you will be filled. (refrain)
II
Come, you captives of fear, all who bear the yoke of hatred,
God has heard the cry of your soul and broken your chains. (refrain)
III
Come you wounded and worn, all who know the face of sorrow,
God will heal the pain of your heart and gladden your soul. (refrain)
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
People: Amen.

Holy Spirit be with you all.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING:
First Reading: Sirach 27: 4-7
A reading from the book of Sirach, Chapter 27, verse 4 to 7
As when one sifteth with a sieve, the dust will remain: so will the perplexity of
a man in his thoughts. The furnace trieth the potter’s vessels, and the trial of
affliction just men. Be the dressing of a tree sheweth the fruit thereof, so a
word out of the thought of the heart of man. Praise not a man before he
speaketh, for this is the trial of men.
The word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 92: 2-3, 13-14, 15-16
R. (2a) Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.
It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.
To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:
R. Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.
The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.
They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of
our God.
R. Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.
They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,
That they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.
R. Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.
Lector: Requesting everyone to please stand up for the Gospel reading.

Priest: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
People: Glory to you, Oh Lord.
Gospel Reading – Luke 6:39-45
39
Jesus told his disciples a parable, “Can a blind person guide a blind
person? Will not both fall into a pit?
40
No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every
disciple will be like his teacher.
41
Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive
the wooden beam in your own?
42
How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in
your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye?
You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will
see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.
43
“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good
fruit.
44
For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from
thorn bushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles.
45
A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good,
but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of
the heart the mouth speaks.”
Priest: This is the Gospel of the LORD,
