AN ORDER TO ORGANIZE THE “BARANGAY NUTRITION COMMITTEE”
BARANGAY TUNASAN, CITY OF MUNTINLUPA ITS MEMBERS AND
REITERATING ITS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
WHEREAS, DILG MC. No. 89-47 mandates the
Organization/Reorganization of Barangay Nutrition Committee;
WHEREAS, the Barangay Nutrition Committee shall formulate a
Barangay Nutrition Action Program and coordinate the nutrition activities of
the barangay;
WHEREAS, the Barangay Council of Tunasan believes that the
organized Barangay Nutrition Committee is very important to help look in the
health concerns of its territorial jurisdiction;
NOW, THEREFORE, I JOHN DAVE D. ARCILLA, Punong Barangay of
Barangay Tunasan, City of Muntinlupa, by virtue of the powers vested in
me by law do hereby organize the Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) as
follows:
Section 1. Composition. The Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) is
hereby organized to be constituted as follows:
Hon. Walter A. Arcilla - Chairperson
Kgd. Homer U. Moldez - Kagawad for health
Jonalyn E. De Borja - Barangay Nutrition Action Officer
Herminia G. Gutierrez - Barangay Secretary
Emmalyn F. Arciaga - Barangay Treasurer
Seth Lance Laureta - SK Chairperson
Mikka Ruth Santiago - Nutritionist-Dietician
Francisco Tagle - Nutritionist
Joy Masong - Barangay Nutrition Scholar
Marilou Pinto - Barangay Nutrition Scholar
Dr. Mariza Peliso - THC Physician
Romil Anne Villero - LHC Nurse
Lady Angelica Blanquisco - LHC Midwife
Ma. Filipina Gutierrez - VHC Midwife
Fatima Mendoza - THC Sanitation officer
Averil San Juan - VES Nurse
Tessie Celestino - TES Feeding Coordinator

Section 2. Functions. The Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) shall
exercise the following functions:
1. Formulate a Barangay Nutrition Action Program;
2. Coordinate the nutrition activities of the barangay;
3. Organize the barangay network;
4. Prepare a spot map for the barangay;
5. Conduct Operation Timbang (OPT) under the supervision of the
Rural Health Unit;
6. Organize specific groups to implement nutrition intervention
activities and assess progress; and
7. Hold regular quarterly meetings to monitor program
performance.
Barangay Chairman
- Presides BNC meetings
- Provides leadership in the formulation, implementation, supervision,
and evaluation of the barangay nutrition program
- Ensures funds for nutrition programs
Barangay Nutrition Action Officer/Kagawad for Health
- Formulates resolutions and ordinances on health and nutrition
- Presides BNC meetings if the BNC chairman is not present
- Oversees the implementation of nutrition programs
Treasurer
- Ensures disbursement of funds of implemented programs and projects
Early Childhood Education Division
- Conducts nutritional assessment of daycare students and monitor
changes in nutritional status
- Implements supplemental feeding program for preschool children
- Integrates nutrition education through non-formal training among
parents of preschoolers
Department of Agriculture-Extension Office
- Provides technical assistance in implementing Gulayan sa Bakuran,
Komunidad at Paaralan through provision of seeds and seedlings
- Conducts various of training/lecture among targeted beneficiaries
Department of Education
- Conducts nutritional assessment of elementary students and monitor
changes in nutritional status
- Implements school feeding among identified wasted and stunted
school children
- Integrates nutrition in school curriculum
- Implements various nutrition activities
Barangay Public Information Office
- Assists in the promotion of nutrition messages and services through
social media and public campaign
Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction management Office
- Provides fund in the implementation of nutrition activities in times of
emergencies disasters
- Coordinates with health, nutrition, and WASH cluster for the proper
delivery of services
City Health Office – Sanitation Section
- Assists in monitoring of sari-sari stores, food establishments, bakeries,
and school canteens on selling and utilization of iodized salt, cooking
oil fortified with Vitamin A and other fortified food products with
Sangkap pinoy Seal
- Monitors accessibility to safe and clean water supply
- Assists in the promotion of proper hygiene and clean environment
City Health Office – Midwifery and Nursing Section
- Assists in the promotion of proper nutrition and nutrition related
services
- Implements health and nutrition programs among targeted groups
Non-Government Organizations
- Provides funding support in the implementation of nutrition programs
and projects
Nutrition Secretariat
- Coordinates with member agencies in the implementation of nutrition
and nutrition-related programs
- Documents meetings of the barangay nutrition committee
- Implements PPAN programs
- Prepares PPAN programs accomplishment and collects
accomplishments reports of member agencies
Section 3. Funding Support. Funding support for the Barangay
Nutrition Committee (BNC) shall be charged against the fund of the Barangay
Government subject to availability of funds and to the usual accounting and
auditing rules and regulations.
