RECONSTITUITING THE BARANGAY NUTRITION COUNCIL (BNC)
WHEREAS, PD 491 series of 1974 provides that each LGU shall establish of
the Nutrition Council as the highest policy making coordination body for the
implementation of nutrition plan;
WHEREAS, there is a need to reconstitute the Barangay Nutrition Council
(BNC) of Banahaw, Malungon, Sarangani Province to improve the nutrition program
of the Barangay;
NOWTHEREFORE, I RUBEN R. PEÑOL, , Punong Barangay of Banahaw,
Malungon, Sarangani Province, by virtue of the power vested in me by law do
hereby order:
Sec.1. Reconstituting the Barangay Nutrition Council. The Barangay Nutrition
Council is hereby reconstituted and shall be composed of the following:

Sec.2 Function and Responsibilities of the Barangay Nutrition Council. The
Barangay Nutrition Council shall perform the following function and responsibilities.
a. Formulate a barangay nutrition action plan.
b. Coordinates the nutrition activities of the barangay.
c. Organize the barangay network.
d. Prepare a spot map of the barangay.
e. Conduct operation timbang (OPT) under supervision of the rural health
unit.
f. Organize specific group to implement nutrition intervention activities and
assess progress.
g. Hold quarterly meetings to monitor program performance.
Sec.3. Barangay Nutrition Action Officer. The Barangay Kagawad Committee
Chairman on health shall designate as Barangay Action Officer (BNAO) the BNAO
shall have the following duties.
a. Initiate the meeting of the Barangay Nutrition Committee and submit
experts of minutes thereof.
b. Coordinate implementation of nutrition intervention activities.
c. Prepared quarterly report of accomplishments.
d. Keep records of barangay nutrition activities.
Sec. 4.Sub- Committees. There shall be sub-committee to be organized in the
Barangay Nutrition Council.
a. Home, school and community food production.
b. Nutrition information and education.
c. Food fortification.
d. Livelihood Assistance.
e. Nutrition in essential maternal and child health services,
Sec. 5. Barangay Nutrition Committee Secretariat. The barangay nutrition
committee secretariat shall be responsible for providing technical administrative
support, documenting proceedings, report and providing such other assistance as
maybe required by the barangay nutrition council. The barangay nutrition council
may avail of the services of NGO or educational or research institution for the
purpose. The barangay nutrition Council secretariat shall headed by Barangay
Nutrition Scholar.
Sec. 6. Meetings. The Barangay Nutrition Council shall meet at least once every
quarter.
Sec. 7. Repealing Clause. All executive orders, rules and regulation and other
issuance or part thereof, which are inconsistent with the executive order, are
hereby revoked, amend modified accordingly.
Sec.8. Effectivity. This Executive Order shall be take immediately upon approval.
