NOTE:
This constitution is subject to change when the group decides to do so.
AIM
   • To preach the gospel as believed and taught by the Seventh-Day Adventist
     Church through music (Mathew 28: 19 - 20).
OBJECTIVES
The Remnant Choral Voice has the following as its objectives:
   • Developing and promoting choral singing among its members
   • Promoting Seventh - Day Adventist Church standard of music and choral
     singing through the use of tonic sofa and / or staff – notation
   • Spreading the gospel as taught and believed by the Seventh Day Adventist
     church through participation in both personal and public music outreach
     programs
GROUP ACTIVITIES
   • Conducting music and voice trainings for the group members
   • Cheering the sick at home and hospital through music
   • Conducting public music outreach programs to advance the Seventh Day
     Adventist Teachings and Beliefs.
   • Performances as invited by interested public figures such as community
     leaders.
   • Conducting Revival meetings
   • Supporting efforts organized by seventh Day Adventist Organization
MEMBERSHIP
A member of The Remnant Choral Voice:
  • Shall be a baptized member of the Seventh – day Adventist church.
  • Shall be in good standing with the local church where he/she congregates in
     accordance with Seventh – day Adventist belief and mission.
• Shall remain a member of the choir for a period of one year determined from
  a period of one year that is from one Annual General Meeting to the next.
• Must fill out a choir membership detail form
• Shall automatically cease to participate in public and private performances
  by The Remnant Choral Voice when he/she has been disfellowshiped from
  his/her local church.
• Shall be suspended from the choir for any reason contradicting beliefs and
  the mission of The Remnant Choral Voice or Seventh- Day Adventist
  Church as testified by the choir or the local church where he/ she
  congregates.
• Shall be suspended only by the disciplinary committee and shall be
  communicated to of the suspension by the disciplinary committee in person
  or writing.
• Shall become a member of the group at final decision of acceptance by the
  executive of The Remnant Choral Voice.
• The musical director, together with the committee shall have the power to
  declare the maximum number in each voice line; if that voice line reaches its
  capacity its membership shall be closed and waiting list shall be opened.
• When the membership of The Remnant Choral Voice reaches its capacity, it
  shall be closed and the waiting list shall be opened.
• The choir has a capping limit of 40 members.
• Any vacancies arising during the year shall be filled from the waiting list
  first.
• Waiting list shall be reviewed at set intervals and / or as appropriate.
• The Musical Director in Consultation with the executive may request a
  member to resign if the member’s attendance or behavior is considered as
  bringing the choir into disrepute.
• A member must be warned at least twice before being suspended and
  withdrawn from the group.
• Age of group members must be from 18 years and above.
• All the new members shall undergo audition which will be led by the music
  director.
• When the group membership is closed, in special cases the music director
  may recruit some members with special skills in consultation with the
  executive.
• In case of transfer, the member shall remain a member of The Remnant
  Choral Voice and shall be under maximum communication and supervision
  by the executive.
   • All interested individuals shall express their interest to join The Remnant
     Choral Voice in writing through the secretary of the choir.
MUSIC PANNEL
  • The music directors will choose, lead and teach music
  • Except in cases of disfellowship, there will be no change of music director.
  • The group will be singing classical type of music.
  • Four directors will be chosen from each voice line
  • The music director will be a member of the executive.
  • Representation of Music directors in the executive shall change from time to
    time.
  • The music directors will hold auditions in recruitment of new members.
  • The music directors shall monitor musical progress of each member and
    report the same to the executive.
  • The music directors shall allow a member to give their song of choice for the
    choir.
ELECTIONS
  • The office bearers shall serve in office for a period of 12 Months
  • The office bearer can repeatedly be elected on the same or any position
  • Elections shall be held in November in order to have proper transition of
    leadership and handovers shall be had in the last week of the month of
    December.
  • The Disciplinary Committee shall preside over the elections by choosing the
    nominating committee.
  • The new office bearers shall work together with the elected new office
    bearers for a period of one month [December].
  • The Disciplinary Committee will organize emergency elections in
    consultation with the executive in case of dismissal of any officer.
  • There shall be fasting and prayer session a day before elections.
  • A member may be elected into the same position for at least two consecutive
    terms.
  • Elections shall be held at the Annual General Meeting of The Remnant
    Choral Voice
  • Elections will be presided over by the chairperson of the disciplinary
    committee
  • Any member in good standing with the church and the choir is eligible to
    vote and/or be voted for any position
GROUP FINANCES
   • Members shall be asked to make monthly contributions minimum
     of Mk 500.
   • Members shall be requested to make special contributions towards the
     choir’s special activities
   • Members are to contribute Mk1000 upon the renewal of registration.
   • There shall be a monthly financial report from the treasury
   • The treasury shall produce annual financial report a week before the annual
     general meeting.
   • There shall be receipts for monthly and annual contributions.
   • Interested individual to sponsor the group will go through the executive.
   SOURCES OF FUNDS
   • Private donations
   • Member contributions
   • Grants or sponsorship that may be recommended by the choir executive
WELFARE COMMITTEE
 • Interest coordinator is automatically a member of the welfare committee
 • The Welfare Committee shall come up with a roster of members who are to
   cheer up any member or their immediate relative admitted in hospital.
 • Those who are sick but at home will be visited and if there is a need will be
   supported financially after the assessment of the Welfare committee.
 • A condolence of Mk 5000 (five thousand Malawi Kwacha) shall be given to
   a bereaved member
 • A member having a wedding will be supported with Mk 10000
 • A member who has received a gift of new babe will be supported with
   Mk5000
 • There will be a quarterly fund raising towards social welfare in which the
   choir members will be required to contribute
 • The choir may render assistance to its own members with special social need
   as identified by the welfare committee.
 • The welfare will comprise of three members including interest coordinator
     and two other elected members.
DISCIPLINE
The Disciplinary Committee:
  • shall organize the elections
  • shall be responsible for counselling members who have trespassed the pillars
     of Remnant Choral Voice
  • shall be responsible to handle all rumors and disagreements between The
     Remnant Choral Voice.
  • shall be responsible for communication in writing to members on a specific
     disciplinary matter.
  • shall be responsible for settlement of disputes.
  • Shall take disciplinary action on members that miss three (3) consecutive
     practice sessions for no solid reason
  • If a member is late by 30 minutes shall be asked not to attend the practice.
  • During practices all members are advised to put their phones on silent and
     are not allowed to take any calls until permission is granted by Music
     director (leading the current practice)
  • When the group is conducting a service which requires uniform, all
     members are required to put their full uniform.
  • If a member wants to quit, he or she is to inform the disciplinary
     comprehensively and the disciplinary committee shall document the same in
     their files.
  • Shall compose of chairperson, coordinator, music director and choir patron.

   PRACTICE DAYS
     • The choir days of practice are Sunday (5:30 Am to 7:00 Am), Friday
        (6:00 Pm to 7:00 Pm) and Saturdays (6:00 Pm to 7:00 Pm)
     • The days are subject to change for specific valid reasons.
    • Special arrangements on extra hours of practice shall be agreed upon and
      set by the Choir.
CHOIR ADMINISTRATION
   • The administration should consist of:
         • Chairperson
         • Coordinator
         • Secretary
         • Treasurer
DUTIES OF CHOIR ADMINISTRATION
  • Chairperson
         • Is the chairperson of all the meetings
         • Shall work alongside the music director and secretary
         • Shall help in the management of the choir programs
         • Shall preside over the choir meetings with the secretary in the absence
           of the music director
   • Coordinator
        • Shall organize the events of the choir and coordinate arrangements
           needed for performances and other activities
        • Shall organize the publicity for the choir and the choir events
        • Shall also be member of a disciplinary committee
        • Shall be involved in the recruitment of the new members
   • Secretary
        • Shall help with the management of the choir alongside the director
           and the chair person
        • Shall preside over the choir in the absence of the chair.
        • Shall be responsible for managing the music library and distributing
           and collecting in music at rehearsals
        • Shall be responsible for issuing out, collecting and custody of
           registration forms
        • Shall work in liaison with the coordinator on all communication
           matters
        • Shall call for executive meetings and annual General meetings
         • Shall take minutes for every meeting
   • Treasurer
        • shall preside over the accounts on behalf of the choir
        • Shall prepare a statement of accounts for presentation and approval at
           the AGM
        • Shall be responsible for collecting membership contributions and all
           funds of the choir
        • Shall prepare and present monthly financial report
        • Shall be responsible for collection of membership contributions

    The executive shall comprise of:
       • The Chairperson
       • The Coordinator
       • The Secretary
       • The Treasurer
       • The Evangelism Director
       • The Music Director
       • The Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee
DUTIES OF THE CHOIR EXECUTIVE
  • Shall be responsible for the reviewing and enforcing of the departmental
    programs
  • Shall be responsible for setting the dates for AGM
  • Shall be responsible for the final decision on recruitment of new members
  • Shall be responsible for the final decision on any matters affecting the
    smooth running of the choir
  • Shall approve the release of the finances for the choir’s expenditure
  • Shall not impose its decision on the members of the choir on any matters
    affecting the choir
