At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

a. define and distinguish between coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions,


and conjunctions;

b. feel confident in their ability to identify and correctly use conjunctions in their daily
communication; and
c. create their own sample sentences using coordinationg and subordinating conjunctions
and share them with the class.
Conjunction
A word that acts as a ‘joining

Examples:

or once meanwhile
nor when hence
for as therefore
yet after besides
so before moreover
Examples:
F- For I went to the store, for I needed to buy some groceries.

A- And I like cats and dogs.

N- Nor I don’t like coffee nor tea.

B- But I wanted to go to the park, but it was raining.

O- Or Would you like to go to the movies or stay home and watch TV?

Y- Yet I’ve been studying for hours, yet I still don’t understand this
concept.
S- So I was feeling hungry, so I decided to make a sandwhich.
TWO TYPES OF CONJUNCTION
Subordinating
conjunction

Is a conjunction used to connect two unlikes


clauses, phrases or sentences from which
one is a subordinate clause or dependent
clause.
Example:
as, after, although, as much as,
as soon as, before, because, eveN,
EVENTHOUGH, HOW, IF, IN ORDER
THAT, JUST AS.
I read newspaper because it
provides information.
COORDINATING CONJUNCTION
ARE USED TO LINK OR JOIN WORDS OR
PHRASES THAT ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT
AND COMPLETE IN TERMS OF GRAMMAR
WHEN COMPARED WITH EACH OTHER.
Examples:
EXAMPLES:
