Crochet pattern

The little stork

THE REQUIRED MATERIALS:

- worsted weight yarn, I used Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn (a little more than one
skein of the base color)
- 4.5 mm crochet hook (or any different crochet hook that matches your yarn)
- 2 safety eyes D= 8 mm or different eyes to your taste
- stuffing material (fiberfill, polyester)
- tapestry needle

Crochet in continuous spirals.


Put a marker (or use scrap of contrasting yarn) at the beginning of each round.
The finished product using a 4.5 mm crochet hook is ~3.9 inches / 10 cm tall.

ABBREVIATIONS (US):

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
inc – increase – two single crochet in one stitch
dec – decrease – two single crochet together
sl st – slip stitch
(….) х 6 times – repeat as instructed
(12) – number of single crochet in the row
Beak

1: Chain 2 and start working in the second chain from hook 4 sc


2: 3sc, inc (5)
3-4: 5sc
5: 4sc, inc (6)
6: 6sc

Do not stuff with fiberfill.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Tail

Begin with white yarn


1: Chain 2 and start working in the second chain from hook 8 sc
2: (3sc, inc)*2 (10)
3: (4sc, inc)*2 (12)

Change to black yarn


4-5: 12sc

Do not stuff with fiberfill.

Flatten together and crochet 6 sc through both loops across.

Fasten off and hide the yarn tail inside.


Wings (make 2)

Begin with white yarn


1: Chain 2 and start working in the second chain from hook 6 sc
2: (2sc, inc)*2 (8)
3: (3sc, inc)*2 (10)
4: (4sc, inc)*2 (12)
5: (5sc, inc)*2 (14)
Change to black yarn
6: (5sc, dec)*2 (12)
7: (4sc, dec)*2 (10)
8: (3sc, dec)*2 (8)

Do not stuff with fiberfill.


Flatten together and crochet 4 sc through both loops across.
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail inside.

Legs (make 2)

Leave a long yarn tail before starting crocheting.

Chain 10 (loosely) and start working (the first finger) in the


second chain from hook 2 sc,

chain 2 and start working in the second chain from hook 1 sc,
sl st in the base of the first finger (the second finger).

Chain 3 and start working in the second chain from hook 2 sc,
sl st in the base of the first finger (the third finger).
THE THIRD FINGER

Crochet 7 sc to the chain foundation.


THE SECOND FINGER
Fasten off and break yarn.

If you use safety eyes, then install them between rounds 6 and 7.
The distance between the eyes is 4 sc.

Stuff with fiberfill

Complete stuffing with fiberfill.

Fasten off and hide the yarn tail inside.


Sew the beak between rounds 6 and 10.

Sew/glue eyes between rounds 6 and 7. The distance between the eyes is 4 sc.

Sew the wings between rounds 3 and 7 (count from the end of the work). You can
choose the required position to your taste.

Sew the tail between rounds 2 and 3 (count from the end of the work).

Insert the legs between rounds 1 and 2 (count from the end of the work).
How I work this step:
Pin the paws to the required position and draw the yarn tails into the next hole. Tie
the yarn tails into 2 knots close to the leg firmly and hide the yarn tails inside the
body (or draw them into one hole on the body).

The stork is finished!

Stuff with fiberfill, fasten off, and hide the yarn tail. Tie a
ribbon.
