Knowledge of learning Enviromint and classroom demographic

I am in a kindergarten classroom, math WIN, there are 9 students in the classroom. There is one
student who has ODD and requires a para with them throughout the day when there is one. There
are a few students that struggle with regulating their emotions and they also act out when they go
throughout the day. Some of the students are below grade level and need some extra time when
working independently and group work. There is also a student that takes meds for their behavior
problems and tends to act out when it gets close to lunch time.
State standard - K.OA.2. Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract
within 10, (e.g. by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.)
Cross-curriculum opportunity - SL.K.8 Use words and phrases acquired through conversations,
reading, and reading aloud. The students are showing critical thinking while reading and writing in
their reading books.
Learning objective/ goal of the lesson- The students will be able to add two numbers in each
number bond to make the product at the end
Data –Specific Assessments - The students have been doing number bonds for about two weeks in
my math group. I have noticed more students using their finders or mental math as we learn to
count on to get the equals of the equation.
Vocab-
Number bonds- a picture to help what plus a missing number makes the number it equals.
Adding- putting two numbers together to make a new number
Subtract- taking away from the final number to find the missing number
Materials needed-

Marker

White board

Pencil

Crayon

Counters

Structure of the Class- The students will be at the carpet showing direct instruction and group
activity. We will go over expectations while doing the lesson. Their eyes should be watching,
ears listening, voices quiet and body still and staying in their rectangles on the carpet. I give
simple reminders to check their bodies throughout the lesson while on the carpet. The students
are to be participating as a whole group as we go through the lesson and respond when asked.

Implementation and Student Engagement

Opening: Hello class, we are going to work on number bonds. Do you all remember what a
number bound looks like? What do we use it for?
Learning Activities: We are going to watch a video about how we add and subtract numbers
from each other. Next, we are going to look at the paper I want you to do. The students will get
their white boards and markers to demonstrate their understanding of number bonds. I will ask
the student to draw the first problem which is 5= 4+ blank and they can use either the counters or
mental math to find the blank number. It is number 1. Then we talk through the next problem
which is 5= 2+ blank and they show me when I say 3,2,1, show me to indicate I am ready to see
all the progress the students have produced which is 3.
Closure: The students get done with their paper they do independently and in groups if they
want. I walk around to give positive talk when they need help then we clean up and they go back
to their classes.
Differentiations/UDL Strategies- I will enhance the students with diverse needs by giving the
students more time to respond when writing on the white boards and having a chant for the
student to understand they are not listening or even talking too much on the carpet to get them to
show me champs behavior on the carpet instead of letting them talk while missing recess because
of it.
