Lead, direct, and execute optimization of existing aluminum, copper, and other
metal joining processes within RS, engage in executing manufacturing strategy to
successfully implement new product platforms, develop new manufacturing
processes, and support needs of RS as it relates to safety, quality, customer
satisfaction, productivity, capacity, and facility planning with a focus on
aluminum joining processes. Role will require interaction with manufacturing,
engineering, technology, and other support functions in all RS sites.
Jan 2009 - Jan 2012 Plant Metallurgist
Lucas Milhaupt
Responsible of metallurgical support for manufacturing and customers in our
Milwaukee and Toronto facilities that produce precious metal wire, strip and
paste for brazing applications. Processes include casting, extrusion, rolling,
annealing, drawing and various forming processes. This is a great hands-on
position where I have opportunity to be involved with many interesting projects
and challenges from in-house to customers' processes.
Jan 2005 - Jan 2009 Technical Advisor - Materials
Modine Manufacturing
Responsible for providing process and materials support and project
management for global manufacturing facilities and R&D. Completed
successful start-up of a CAB brazing furnace for aluminum and copper brazing.
Evaluated, tested and added new copper brazing process to Modine's product
portfolio, elevating Modine’s capabilities to competitor level. Managed global
material consolidation project in co-operation with Modine’s largest material
supplier to reduce raw material cost and price volatility. Spearheaded project
to validate new environmentally friendly lead-free material solution for radiator
tanks. Led process development for Modine’s high strength, light weight new
generation aluminum heat exchanger. Developed materials and CAB brazing
process for next generation improved corrosion resistant extruded micro multi-
void aluminum condensers.
Jan 2000 - Jan 2005 Process Manager
Luvata
Responsible of all rolling, wire drawing, annealing and plating operations in the
two plant locations. Managed a team of 11 employees consisting of
Metallurgical Engineers, Technicians and Laboratory staff. Maintained and wrote
work instructions, specifications and quality standards to assure manufacturing
met customer requirements. Administered customer complaint process.
Developed a concept of empowering employees to have more control and
responsibility for quality and productivity resulting in 50% reduction in quality
scrap. Set and monitored quality and productivity standards, streamlined and
standardized processes through Lean Manufacturing events and implemented
new technologies and statistical process control systems. This led to improved
product consistency and increased throughput. Teamed with Quality
Department to implement ISO9000 to the manufacturing process. Provided
leadership and technical support in design and start-up of two new
electroplating lines and multiple pickling lines as well as high-speed rolling mill
resulting in 100-300% increase in productivity. Received Valleycast President's
Award for exceptional work with Plating Technology. Patented new copper alloy
for specific customer application.
Jan 1999 - Jan 2000 Senior Metallurgical Engineer
Luvata
Developed and ran trials with new continuous casting technology, specified
casting furnaces, machines and new foundry layout. Outlined project budget.
Jan 1996 - Jan 1999 Senior Casting Metallurgist
Luvata
Implemented new casting technology and ran day-to-day casting operation in
the Foundry. Responsible of alloy development, quality control, and process
development work. Designed new casting cooling system resulting in 75%
increase in casting productivity. Implemented new near net shape casting
technology and reduced quality complaints with new melt handling techniques.
Received Outokumpu Copper Products Research & Development Award for
implementation of new casting technology.
