Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (regular worsted weight will work but I
found the cotton to be more durable)
Hook Size I (5.50MM)
Jewels (optional)
Hot Glue Gun
Gauge:
6 hdc = 2 inches
4 rows of hdc = 2 inches
Stitches Used:
Slip Stitch (sl st): insert hook in st, YO, pull through lps on hook.
Single Crochet (sc): insert hook in st and pull up a lp, YO, and draw
through both lps on hook.
Half Double Crochet (Hdc): YO, insert hook in st and pull up a lp, YO and
draw through all 3 lps on hook.
Sizing:
Newborn/ 0-3 Months: Hat Circ: 11-12 inches
3-6 Months: Hat Circ: 11.5-13 inches
6-12 Months: Hat Circ: 13-16 inches
1-3 Years: Hat Circ: 17-19 inches
3-10 Years: Hat Circ: 18-19.5 inches
Teen/Adult: Hat Circ: 19.5-22 inches
NEWBORN/0-3 Months:
With Yellow and I hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 30, being careful not to twist, join with sl st to first ch, ch 1,
hdc in each st around, join with sl st. (30)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: sl st in each of next 5 sts, Ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on
top of crown, Ch 8, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl
st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, *sl st in each of next 6 sts, ch
5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 8, sl st in same st as
last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of
crown, repeat from * around, fasten off. (you should have 5 points)
Glue some jewels around the crown if desired.
3-6 Months:
With yellow and I hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 36, being careful not to twist, join with sl st to first ch, ch 1,
hdc in each st around, join with sl st. (36)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: sl st in each of next 5 sts, Ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on
top of crown, Ch 8, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl
st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, *sl st in each of next 6 sts, ch
5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 8, sl st in same st as
last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of
crown, repeat from * around, fasten off. (you will have 6 points)
Glue some jewels around the crown if desired.
6-12 Months
With yellow and I hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 42, being careful not to twist, join with sl st to first ch, ch 1,
hdc in each st around, join with sl st (42)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: sl st in each of next 5 sts, Ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on
top of crown, Ch 8, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl
st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, *sl st in each of next 6 sts, ch
5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 8, sl st in same st as
last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of
crown, repeat from * around, fasten off. (you should have 7 points)
Glue some jewels around the crown if desired.
1-3 Years
With yellow and I hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 48, being careful not to twist, join with sl st to first ch, ch 1,
hdc in each st around, join with sl st. (48)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: sl st in each of next 5 sts, Ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on
top of crown, Ch 8, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl
st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, *sl st in each of next 6 sts, ch
5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 8, sl st in same st as
last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of
crown, repeat from * around, fasten off. (you should have 8 points)
Glue some jewels around the crown if desired.
3-10 Years
With yellow and I hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 54, being careful not to twist, join with sl st to first ch, ch 1,
hdc in each st around, join with sl st. (54)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: sl st in each of next 5 sts, Ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on
top of crown, Ch 8, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl
st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, *sl st in each of next 6 sts, ch
5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 8, sl st in same st as
last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of
crown, repeat from * around, fasten off. (you should have 9 points)
Glue some jewels around the crown if desired.
Teen/Adult:
With Yellow and I hook.
Rnd 1: Ch 60, being careful not to twist, join with sl st to first ch, ch 1,
hdc in each st around, join with sl st. (64)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: sl st in each of next 5 sts, Ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on
top of crown, Ch 8, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl
st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, *sl st in each of next 6 sts, ch
5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of crown, ch 8, sl st in same st as
last sl st on top of crown, ch 5, sl st in same st as last sl st on top of
crown, repeat from * around, fasten off. (you should have 10 points)
