BACKGROUND
Social responsibility can be understood as giving back to society. There are a lot of life challenges that
are bedeviling all facets of life in Zimbabwe which calls for religious groups to intervene. This has led to
high levels of poverty, hunger and starvation leading to a crippled economic growth. One of the pillars of
Islam is almsgiving. The learner will research on Islamic social responsibility in Zimbabwe

Aim

To help opharns through taught them some skills,provide food and clothes,ending hunger and
starvation to the opharns.

Even as Muslim represent just 0,7% of Zimbabwe's population,they are said to be at the ferefront of
voluntary activities such as donating money for charities and helping the homeless orphans

This is testiment in the charity grand called citizens lutiative ZW, launched by amuslim called Fazila
Mohamed

Nelia,a 14 year old orphan and her brother who were living on streets,were assisted by the group,they
were given food and Nelia was taught skills like sewing which is helping her in supporting her brother
with fees.The siblings agreed that it was a common sight to see Muslim community members helping
the poor in the capital Harare.

Thanks to the citizens Initiatives charity group,Chambati,who drapped out of school as he was unable to
pay the tuation fee,has now resumed his studies while his sister Nelia has became a qualified
dressmaker.
