Halloween

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31. It is especially popular in the

United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. On this day, children and adults
enjoy wearing costumes. People dress up as different characters, such as witches,
ghosts, vampires, or even famous movie characters. Children go door to door in
their neighborhoods, saying “Trick or treat!” to ask for candy from neighbors. Most
houses are decorated with pumpkins, often carved with faces to make jack-o’-
lanterns. Some people put spooky decorations like fake spiders, skeletons, or
cobwebs around their houses to create a scary atmosphere.

In addition to trick-or-treating, people also celebrate Halloween in other ways.

Many families watch scary movies, tell ghost stories, or visit haunted houses.
Schools and community centers may have Halloween parties where children can play
games, win prizes, and show off their costumes. Halloween’s history goes back to
ancient Celtic festivals, where people celebrated the end of summer and believed
that spirits could come to the world. Today, Halloween is mostly a fun holiday for
all ages. It allows people to use their creativity, enjoy sweet treats, and share a
spooky night with friends and family.
