THE BMW IIIA.
THE CORNERSTONE OF THE COMPANY.
Developed by Max Friz within just a few weeks, the R 32 motorcycle hails
the Advent of BMW‘s great tradition in the two-wheeler market.
The BMW 303 combines two features essential to BMW to this very day:
The double kidney grille so typical of the marque and the straight-six power unit
within the engine bay.
With the 003 turbine, BMW takes one of the first jet engines to
production stage.

Following the initial ban on production and reconstruction of the Company, the first
BMW post-war motorcycle – the single-cylinder R 24 – makes its debut.
Large saloons, coupés, convertibles and roadsters in the 501, 502, 503 and 507
model range continue BMW car production after the war, now for the first time at the
Munich Plant.

The BMW Isetta, BMW 600 and BMW 700 meet customer demand in
the post-war years.

At the Annual General Meeting on 9 December 1959, small shareholders and Dealers
prevent the company from being sold off. With BMW thus making a new Start as an
independent mobility enterprise, Dr Herbert Quandt becomes the Major shareholder.
BMW successfully makes its way out of the crisis with the sporting and
compact midsize New Class Saloons.
Two objectives were pursued when the new company BMW Motorsport
GmbH was established: pooling all motor-sport activities with the design
and development of particularly sporty and exclusive automobiles.
The new Research and Innovation (FIZ) is built near the Group
Headquarters and the Munich Plant. The FIZ is the hub of the
Group‘s global research and development network.
Purchasing Rover Group Ltd with its main brand ROVER, LAND ROVER,
MG and MINI, BMW AG enters new market segments.
Rolls-Royce
Starting in 2003, the BMW Group assumes responsibility for the
Rolls-Royce brand, building the worldwide Head Office and
Manufacturing Plant in Goodwood, GB.

The BMW brand model line-up is enlarged by the 1 Series in the
premium lower midrange segment, the 6 Series in the large coupé
and convertible market segments as well as the X3 in the sport
activity vehicle segment.
MINI
The production enters in April 2001, initially being launched in
Europe in summer, then entering the world markets step-by-step.
Currently MINIs are sold in more than 100 countries the world over.
