“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the
compassionate actions of its members” (Coretta Scott King). As part of the
society, being a Filipino, I should involve myself and extend my warm
hands to them. What I am aiming for is making moves that will make a
difference in the lives of others and the community to which I (we) belong.
In the previous years, I saw students who did some activities in
other areas or schools where life is not that rich enough to supply the
needs of people. It was related to their NSTP subject. Based on their
stories, they did a feeding program, taught young ones, had a clean-up
drive, and helped to enhance facilities. That was the time when the
pandemic was not yet on our way. However, if there’s no COVID19 or if
COVID19 is over, I picture myself doing the Civil Welfare Training Service in
a way that I contribute at the same time, beneficial for me. I’ll be waking
up early in the morning to prepare for a long trip going to a sector far from
where I’ve been. Together with my classmates and our instructor, bringing
ready-to-eat food such as “Goto,” “Sopas,” and bread as an example to be
distributed to people in that sector will be one of the most awaited parts. It
will be a form of “bonding” for me. I can participate in that kind of program
and show compassionate action towards people without looking at them
lesser importance in the community. Also, I’d like to do some tree planting
activities, making artistic designs for a landscape in the community to add
color and beauty. I can see that in environmental programs, I could have
my arms open to help it become a peaceful and attractive place to live.
I envision myself doing the CWTS in which we are not more into
books or lessons but with actions. Examples of this are attending seminars
and training services. Through attending seminars, it could help me and
my classmates increase our self-awareness and give us knowledge with
regards to the purpose of CWTS and other related matters. In terms of
training services, I imagine teaching us to do and develop our skills and
abilities to possess defense preparedness.
Engaging in CWTS activities helps students, like me, to have a heart
for the people and society. The community can achieve its greatness
through our actions. Every movement matters, it has an impact to on one’s
life. The camaraderie of students towards the community and its people
will be evident enough to contribute to the general welfare, the betterment
of life of the members of it, and in enhancing the facilities in the education,
