If I Were the Ocean: A Plea for Care and Respect
If I were the ocean, I would be the heartbeat of the Earth, my tides pulsing with life,
my depths whispering secrets older than time. I would be a cradle of wonders,
where fish shimmer like scattered diamonds and whales compose symphonies that
roll through the deep. My waves would dance with the wind, painting poetry on the
shores. But my beauty is fading, my voice is drowning in pollution, and my
creatures are suffocating in silence.
If I were the ocean, I would beg humanity to listen. Do not feed me poison—plastic
bottles, oil spills, and toxic waste are daggers to my soul. Let your hands be gentle,
cleaning my shores instead of littering them. Let industries show mercy, ensuring
their waste does not seep into my veins like a slow, deadly poison.
If I were the ocean, I would ask for respect. Do not strip my waters bare, plundering
my children faster than they can be replaced. Protect my coral reefs, the rainforests
of my depths, where life blooms in dazzling colors. Reduce carbon emissions, for the
heat burns me, turning my waves restless and my waters acidic.
If I were the ocean, I would promise to nurture life for generations to come—but
only if you, humanity, promise to cherish me in return. Love me, protect me, and I
will embrace you with tides of endless mercy.
