LOCATION Club Manila East is a great destination for any type of tourist: families, barkadas, couples, companies, and businessmen. Its a resort-hotel water park located at the heart of the municipality of Taytay, Rizal. Its pool area is more than ten basketball courts combined which contains several water attractions such as the lap pool, beach wave, ocean wave, and lagoon. The resort also provides other in house activities and accommodations to tap long-stay markets. PROBLEM 1) Why are certain facilities (swimming pools, rooms, cottages, tables, comfort rooms, concessionaires, etc) situated in those areas? 2) With the increasing number of visitors every year, what other improvements and development could be made in order to accommodate that large number of expected visitors and maximize the space of the location? 3) Accidents are inevitable in these kinds of facilities but they can be avoided and minimized through the proper guidance of lifeguards. Lifeguards ensure the safety of all patrons present by enforcing facility regulations, monitoring activity, and rendering emergency care in the event that a patron suffers from an incident. Furthermore, lifeguards are also responsible for maintaining the quality of a facility by regulating the behavior of patrons. Where should the lifeguard stations be? In what places will they be able to maximize their visibility over their supervised areas? OBJECTIVE To map out the assets of the destination To analyze the location of the facilities and amenities in this destination. To make suggestions on what facilities and amenities should be added/changed/removed and where it should be strategically placed.
METHODOLOGY Interviews and consultations The group will interview both insiders (employees, executives, etc.) and outsiders like tourists, locals and customers. We will also gather some information from the management with regards to the structure of the establishment. We would also ask the management if there are plans of developing the place or if there are on-going construction of new facilities. It is also
important that we get input from the customers themselves so that we know the strengths and weaknesses of the destination. The group would also like to consult with industry experts in order to gain a better knowledge on how to develop and improve the site. It will also help the group in formulating suggestions and recommendations. On-site visits It is best that the group will be able to visit the site itself in order to experience firsthand the facilities, products and services. This will also help the group in making concrete observations and suggestions on how to enhance and develop the site. On-site visits will be the most important step in our data gathering. GIS site and character analyses and geoprocessing
ANALYSIS The group will put together data gathered and come up with conclusions and suggestions about planning and development. GIS will be very crucial in this study for it will be the best tool in processing data. GIS site and character analyses, and GIS geoprocessing will be helpful in the analysis of the study. Interviews and consultations may also be done after data has been processed and analyzed so as to help the group in formulating better interpretation of results , conclusions and recommendations.
