Materials Used:
Crochet hook: Yarn:
5.5 mm hook (blanket) Weight 4 (any worsted yarn)
5.0 mm hook (deer) Embroidery Thread
3.25 mm hook (eyes)

Stitch Abbreviation:
SL ST slip stitch
ST / STS stitch / stitches
SC single crochet
SC INC single crochet increase
HDC half-double crochet
HDC INC half-double crochet increase
INV DEC invisible decrease

Notes:
In some places this pattern may get confusing. There is a lot of switching stitches and
not much repeating in certain areas but I have written out the instructions to make it as
easy as possible! Just remember if you have any questions, send me an email with
Deer Lovey in the subject area and I will help you in any way I possibly can!

The spots on the deer head are completely up to you. If you do decide to add them I
suggest adding them while making the head but be sure to have some stuffing in first so
you can see how it will look with the shape of the head. You can also wait until it is time
to assemble as well, whichever you prefer.

Deer Head:
1. *begin with nose color* Magic Circle with 4 SC
2. (SC in first st, SC INC in next) repeat (6)
3. *change to snout color* SC in each around
4. SC INC in first 2 sts, SC in next 3 sts, SC INC in last ST (9)
5. SC INC in first 2 sts, SC in next 2 sts, SC INC next 2 sts, SC in next 2 sts, SC
INC in last st (14)
6. (HDC INC in first st, HDC) repeat once, SC in last 10 sts (16)
7. SC first 2 sts, (HDC INC next st, HDC in next, HDC INC next st, SC next 5 sts,
SC INC next st, SC last 5 sts (19)
8. (SC in 2 sts, SC INC next st) repeat once; SC next 6 sts, (SC INC next st, SC
next st) repeat twice; SC last st (24)
9. *change to head color* (SC next 3 sts, SC INC) repeat 6 times (30)
10. (SC next 4 sts, SC INC) repeat 6 times (36)
11. (SC next 5 sts, SC INC) repeat 6 times (42)

Fasten off and weave in end, closing the small hole.

5-9. (sc in each around)
10. (SC next st, INV DEC) repeat around (12)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for attachment

Arms: ​(make 2)
1. Magic Circle 6 SC
2. SC INC in eat st (12)
3. (SC next st, SC INC) repeat around (18)

8. (SC next 7 sts, INV DEC) repeat (16)
9. (SC next 6 sts, INV DEC) repeat (14)

11-21. SC in each st around until reaching desired length.
Fasten off, leaving tail for attachment

Eyes: ​using 3.2mm hook (or prefered hook) and embroidery thread (Make 2)
Begin with black
1. Magic CIrcle 6 sc
2. SC INC in each st around (12) *switch to white
3. (SC first st, SC INC) repeat once more; SC next st, (HDC INC, HDC next st)
repeat once; SC INC next st, SC, SC INC last stitch (18)
4. SL ST next 5 sts, SC next 2 sts, SC INC, SC next st, HDC next, SC next, SC
INC, SC next st, SL ST last 5 sts (20)

Fasten off leaving a tail for attachment

For the blanket section of the lovey, I used the pattern Rainbow Ripple Baby Blanket
(12-pointed Star) by Celeste Young. The pattern is available for free on her Ravelry
account. I followed the pattern until I reached 13-14 inches from one point of the star to
the other straight across from it.
