MPL Cricket Rules

Team Composition

Each Squad will have 15 players with the following composition of at least:

• 5 Officers (with at least one player above 50 years of age)


• 2 Female players
• 2 Supervisors
• 2 Worker

The remaining players to be chosen by team leaders/captains without restriction

There will be 10 playing member with the following rules:

• At least 3 Officers (with at least one player above 50 years of age)


• At least 2 Female players
• At least 1 Supervisor
• At least 1 Worker
• Maximum 3 open players

TEAM OWNERS/CAPTAINS MUST CHOOSE THE PLAYING MEMBERS, FOR ANY


PARTICULAR MATCH, ONLY FROM THE SQUAD OF 15. THE SQUAD OF 15 WILL BE
FIXED FOR THE SERIES.

Playing Rules

1) Match will be of 20 overs and each pair has to bat for 4 overs
2) Both the female players will come as a pair to bat and will be bowled by the female
pair of the opposing team for 4 overs (under arm bowling for ladies allowed)
3) Each player has to compulsorily bowl 2 overs
4) Minus 6 runs for each time a batsman gets out
5) Getting out doesn’t mean that the player returns to the pavilion. Each of the 5 pairs
will get 4 overs to bat.
6) “Wides” and “No-balls” will not be counted and extra 6 runs per such wide and
no ball will be added in the total till the 18th over of the innings. In the 19th and 20th
overs of the innings, international Cricket rules pertaining to “Wides” and “No-
balls” shall be applicable.
7) Byes and over throws (not leg byes) are eligible for runs.
8) All types of “Outs” are allowed.
9) Ball crossing the boundary shall fetch 4 runs and over the boundary 6 runs, hitting
the sideboards and both sight screens directly shall fetch 8 runs

10) In case of ties, 1 super over will be conducted to arrive at the result. If the same
score is arrived in the first super over, team loosing lesser wickets will win. If still
a tie prevails, the process will be repeated. The players participating in the super
over have to be declared before the super over starts. There should not be any
repetition in the players in 2 consecutive super overs.
11) Even for the Super Over(s) MPL rules for falling wickets will apply as mentioned
above.
12) Male players will be fielding with their non- playing hand when female players
are batting. A bonus of 3 runs to be added to the batting side when a fielder is
found not following the rule in addition to run(s) if scored through bat.
13) All the fielders (except the wicket keeper) to stand beyond 5 meters during the
batting of female players
14) Both female players shall field for a minimum of 10 overs and at least one of them
shall be present on the field throughout the 20 overs
15) Matches will be played on league cum knock out basis
16) If a male player is found to be chucking by the on-field umpires, the Umpire shall
call that delivery a "No-ball" (but. the delivery will be counted, and the batsman
can't be declared out, (other than "Run-Out"). An additional penalty of 6
runs/per such type of no-ball shall be imposed in the form of addition to
batting side score, apart from the runs scored off that ball (if any).
17) In case of any dispute, the decision of the umpire will be final and binding.
18) Apart from above, if a situation arises during an ongoing game, which cannot
be settled through above rules, the MPL committee would take a decision on
site and that will be applicable.
