BASIC INTRODUCTION
The internet is the key information and communication technology that led to
a worldwide revolutionary change in the information scenario (Siraj, et al., 2015).
The internet is a technology that has become an enormous part of people’s daily
lives. In this generation, the internet has become each person’s companion for the
last few years and it plays a huge role, especially in the lives of every student.
The primary focus of this study is to determine how the lack of internet
access affects the academic performance of selected Senior High School Students
at Christ's Achievers' Montessori. It is assumed that not having access to the
internet is a big factor in why students are performing poorly in school, and it is also
assumed that students having access to the internet perform better than those who
do not.
This study will provide information that may help students to excel
academically while using the internet. The researchers aim to determine the
relationship between the lack of internet access and how it affects students’
achievement. This study also aims to determine the use of the Internet for study
purposes and academic achievement. The independent variable of this study is
internet access. In contrast, the dependent variable is the student’s Achievement.
RESEARCH PROBLEM
Before the internet, it took a long time to communicate with someone else.
When it comes to sending messages, there are only two options: phone calls or
mailing. People also had to physically travel to different locations to keep track of
their business. But times change quickly, and the internet has completely
transformed everything. Millennials and the general public can now take advantage
of the benefits of an internet connection without leaving their homes.
Currently, the internet is also very important for students, particularly those
in the K-12 curriculum, because it allows them, particularly those in public schools,
to easily acquire the information they require, although many educational
institutions are still unable to provide every teaching and facility that the students
require.
Despite all of its benefits, the internet is out of reach for many people. This
was the primary focus of this study, which sought to determine the effects of a lack
of internet access on the academic performance of senior high school students at
Christ's Achievers' Montessori.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to determine how the use and lack of Internet access affect
academic achievement since it can be assumed that internet use and academic
achievement are directly proportional to each other while inversely proportional to
student social life while this will utilize causal-comparative design. Specifically, this
research will attempt to answer the following questions.
1. How do student respondents assess their internet availability for study
purposes and academic achievements?
2. How do student-respondents assess their academic achievement in terms of
rewards?
3. What is the significant difference between the assessments on the lack of
internet connection and academic achievement?
4. What is the significant relationship between the assessments on the lack of
internet connection and academic achievement?
5. What may be proposed as a recommendation to address the problem of
academic achievement caused by poor internet connection?
INTERNET ACCESS AFFECTING STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENT, OF
SELECTED SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN CHRIST'S ACHIEVERS'
MONTESSORI
Of course, there are many issues with the education that the Internet cannot
solve. To the greatest extent possible, national policies that integrate education and
technology knowledge within the national contexts of various nations are necessary.
Education outcomes, including increases in student achievement, employment
opportunities, and contribution to national development, will be used to assess the
effectiveness of the Internet in education.
At the Internet Society, we want to make sure that access laws are put in
place that allow an Internet of opportunities to flourish and that the Internet thereby
fully contributes to achieving these goals. Over the past 10 years, much has been
written about the Internet and education. Experience with various technologies and
services in countries with varying educational systems has taught us valuable
lessons.
It provides access to a variety of information, knowledge, and educational
resources, expanding chances for learning both inside and beyond the classroom.
Teachers utilize internet materials to prepare classes, and students use them to
broaden their learning opportunities. Teachers may provide more attention to
individual students' needs and enhance shared learning through interactive
teaching approaches that are backed by the Internet.
