Dear Admissions Committee,
I vividly recall the thrill of opening my first company, a tiny stand selling smartphone
accessories, in my hometown. At the age of 17, I had only a few rupees saved up and a
strong conviction that I could transform a simple idea into something significant. I got a
small space with the help of my father, who owns a Xerox and printing business, and I used
social media to draw in local teenagers. I made a profit of 15,000 Indian rupees in just three
months, in addition to developing a devoted clientele. That encounter was a revelation
rather than merely a business endeavor. It demonstrated to me the value of customer
connection, the excitement of problem-solving, and the strength of entrepreneurship.
However, my adventure didn’t end there. Prior to enrolling in college, I wanted to obtain
practical experience after finishing my 12th grade. I ended up working as a customer service
executive at Teleperformance (Amazon) as a result. I help clients from all over the world
every day by guiding them through their purchasing processes and handling delivery
concerns. I’ve improved my ability to negotiate solutions, interact with people from various
cultural backgrounds, and quickly adjust to new situations. Speaking Bengali has also
helped me interact with a larger spectrum of clients. The work has confirmed what I initially
discovered when I started my own small business: globalization is about more than just
product sales; it’s about understanding people.
I’ve always had a strong desire to give back to my community, even outside of business. I
organized food drives for impoverished families and tutored younger students who needed
academic support as part of my high school community service projects. I also took part in
the drama club at my school, where I portrayed a soldier in a play that focused on
cooperation and resiliency. These encounters helped to mold me into a person who values
empathy and leadership, two traits I think are critical for any aspiring business owner.
SBW Berlin is the ideal setting for my development because of its dedication to global
business, innovation, and social impact. Its emphasis on hands-on learning and its goal of
empowering youth who aspire to effect significant change particularly appeal to me. My
long-term goal is to start a logistics and supply chain business that assists Indian brands in
entering the North American and European markets. India is a major trading partner.
difficulties, and I want to contribute to the solution by assisting regional companies in
reaching a worldwide audience and strengthening international economic relations.
I’m prepared to take on the exciting challenge of moving to a new nation. I’m ready to
navigate a variety of settings thanks to my experiences at Teleperformance, and I’m excited
to get involved in Berlin’s multicultural community, pick the brains of my peers, and
discover Germany’s vibrant business scene. Financial limitations, however, remain a
significant obstacle. More than just financial assistance, the SBW Berlin scholarship is
essential to realizing my goals and making a significant impact in the business community.
I can’t wait to join SBW Berlin and contribute my adaptability, entrepreneurial spirit, and
dedication to social impact. I appreciate you reading my story. I’m excited about the
prospect of working for your prestigious organization.
Best regards,
Rishav Sur
