Valve timing procedures

Removal
Ensure engine at TDC on No.1 cylinder.
Ensure crankshaft sprocket TDC timing mark at 12 o'clock position 1 .
Remove RH timing chain tensioner 2 .
Remove RH tensioner rail and guides 3 , 4 & 5 .
Remove RH timing chain 6 .
Remove LH timing chain tensioner 7 .
Remove LH tensioner rail and guides 8 , 9 , 10 & 11 .
Remove upper idler sprocket 12 .
Remove LH timing chain 13 .
Installation
Reset chain tensioners:
Using hand pressure only, compress the tensioners.
Insert suitable pins to lock tensioner plungers.
Camshafts can be turned without valves contacting pistons when crankshaft set at 90° BTDC on No.1 cylinder 14 .
Ensure keyway of each exhaust camshaft sprocket aligned at 12 o'clock position 15 .
Align sprocket of each inlet camshaft 16 :
Position RH inlet camshaft sprocket timing mark 50° after 12 o'clock position.
Position LH inlet camshaft sprocket timing mark 75° after 12 o'clock position.
Ensure crankshaft sprocket TDC timing mark at 12 o'clock position 1 .
Install LH timing chain 13 .
Ensure gold coloured link aligned with crankshaft sprocket timing mark 17 .
Ensure dark blue coloured links aligned with timing mark of each LH camshaft sprocket 18 .
Install upper idler sprocket 12 .
Tighten upper idler sprocket bolt to 69 Nm.
Install LH tensioner rail and guides 8 , 9 & 10 .
Install LH timing chain tensioner 7 .
Tighten LH timing chain tensioner bolts to 16 Nm.
Install RH timing chain 6 .
Ensure dark blue link aligned with LH timing chain dark blue link at lower idler sprocket 19 .
Ensure gold coloured links aligned with timing mark of each RH camshaft sprocket 20 .
Install RH tensioner rail and guides 3 , 4 & 5 .
Install RH timing chain tensioner 2 .
Tighten RH timing chain tensioner bolts to 16 Nm.
Install LH timing chain guide 11 :
Check clearance 21 between LH timing chain guide 11 and RH timing chain guide 5 .
Check clearance is 8,4-8,6 mm 22 .
Tighten timing chain guide bolts to 7,8 Nm 11 .
Remove timing chain tensioner locking pins.

Note: Bolts for timing chain guides 4 , 9 & 11 MUST only be used once.
