Few places to visit:
Radahnagar Beach: Tucked in Havelock Island,
Radhanagar Beach is regarded as the best beach in
India. It is a pristine stretch of sand backed by
turquoise water and lush forest. Radhanagar Beach is
commonly called Beach No. 7 and it looks straight out
of the postcard. Times Magazine has awarded it the
title of the ‘7th best beach in the world’. Radhanagar
Beach is one of the many highlights, not only in
Havelock but also in the Andaman Islands.
Ross Island:Named after Captain Daniel Ross, the
Ross Island is now renamed as the "Netaji
Shubash Chandra Bose Dweep" by prime minister
Narendra Modi in 2018. It is a very small
destination that comes under the south Andaman
district, Port Blair and is barely 3Kms from the
Water Sports Complex.
This Island was first occupied in 1782 by British
and
used it
as an Administrative Headquarters for 85 years. During
this time, a lot of important government offices were made
by the British on this penal settlement, which were later
abandoned after an earthquake in 1941.
The ruins of these old buildings made by Indian prisoners
are still present at Ross, textured by thick roots
of peepal and serie trees that takes us back to an era,
long gone yet still remembered.
Cellular Jail:Cellular jail which is also known as Kalapani jail or Andaman jail is one of the most
important National monuments from the days of
Indian freedom struggle. Cellular jail is located
about 2km from Port Blair city centre. The cellular
jail was built by the British in 1906 into the gigantic
structure we see today. The tales of horror
committed by the British raj still echo in the
corridors of the remains of this gigantic structure. It
was referred to as the Kalapani jail among the
freedom fighters in mainland India during the
independence movement.
Carbyn’scove Beach:Corbyn's Cove beach is the
only developed sea beach in the Port Blair city area.
This is a happening place in Port Blair city. The
beach can be reached by road from Port Blair city (7
km). The beach is always open although water
sports activities are allowed till sunset only.Corbyn's
cove beach has a long coastline and many
Japanese bunkers on its side. There are many
water sports activities to be done in Corbyn's cove
including Jet Ski and speed boat rides. The best
thing to do here is Parasailing and SeaKart. When
you fly in the air, you get to see the most beautiful
view of the ocean under you.
ChidiyaTapu: As the name suggests, ChidiyaTapu is the
perfect haven for unseen migratory birds and common native
birds found in the Andaman Islands and it is one of the
popular places to visit in Port Blair. Recognized as the most
enchanting beach in Andaman and tourists arrive here on a
large scale as the beach extends the best ever sights for
them including the eye catching sunrise and sunset views.
North Bay Island: Famous for the underwater
corals, North Bay Island located 5 km away
from Water sports complex Port Blair is yet
another favourite places to visit in Port Blair.
Multiple clubs providing exhilarating scuba
diving, snorkelling and sea walking at the
island give it a special space in the hearts of
adventure lovers. And because of this factor,
North Bay Island is crowded all the time.
Jolly Buoy Island: Renowned for its beautiful
corals and its scintillating beaches, this place
can be accessed from Wandoor Beach and is
one of the famous places to visit in Port
Blair. Often called a no man’ s land. Nestled
away in a small corner of Andaman and
Nicobar is the Jolly Buoy Island, an
uninhabited and ecologically preserved island
known for its clear waters and beautiful coral
reefs that make it one of the most sought-after
sports in the Andaman for scuba diving and
snorkelling, and truly being able to experience
the beauty of nature that has been unaffected
by man-made dirt and pollution.
