of Tamil Nadu in February 1982, under the Bharathiar University

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION
The following instructions are to be read carefully and adhered strictly:

The selection will be made based on the entrance examination / marks obtained by the students upto V semester
(if it is a semester pattern)/II year of study (if it is a non-semester) in the UG degree programme. In the UG degree
programme, in all subjects other than part l / ll Languages and subjects like General Knowledge and NSS, irrespective
of the candidate appearing in 2025 examinations or already qualified for the award of degree shall be considered
for preparing the merit list.

FREE EDUCATION SCHEME

Free Education Scheme offered by the University enables free education to the poor and meritorious students. It is
offered to one candidate from each department, admitted into various degree programmes of the University. The free
education scheme is applicable only to the students who fulfill the norms framed by the University.

RESERVATION NORMS AND FEE CONCESSION

Ø Admission will be made strictly on the basis of the reservation policy of Government of Tamil Nadu.
Ø Students belongs to Adi Dravidar, Tribal Community and Adi Dravidar converted to Christianity are exempted
from paying the tuition fee under TNER-92, Government of Tamil Nadu.
Ø 5% of the seats are reserved for differently abled students in all the programmes and they are exempted from
paying the tuition fee and special fee for all categories of students (on production of disability certificate)
and visually challenged students will be given full fee waiver.

PROHIBITION OF RAGGING
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authorities, the
concerned student shall be given an opportunity to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the
administration would expel him from the institution.
The University will not show any mercy to a misbehaving student and would initiate disciplinary action
whenever the occasion demands. At the time of admission, every student and his / her parent / guardian shall be
required to sign a declaration to the effect that he/she submits himself/herself to the disciplinary jurisdiction of the
university and the university authorities.

TAMIL NADU PROHIBITION OF RAGGING ACT,1997

PENALTY FOR RAGGING

Ø Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates “ragging” within or without any
educational institution, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and
shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
Ø Dismissal of student. — Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 shall also be dismissed from
the educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution.
Ø Suspension of student. — Without prejudice to the foregoing provisions, whenever any student complaints
of ragging to the head of an educational institution, or to any other person responsible for the management of
the educational institution, such head of the educational institution or person responsible for the
management of the educational institution shall inquire into the same immediately and if found true shall
suspend the student, who has committed the offence, from the educational institution.
