Dk or sports acrylic yarn in the following colors: terracotta, beige, mustard, red, white, black and
brown.
C hook (2.5 mm), a tapestry needle, stuffing and scissors.

Realization
Head (Terracotta color):
To avoid a hole at the beginning of your project, you need to start it with a double adjustable ring
(loop twice the yarn on your finger and when you finish the round pull the remaining yarn to close
the hole):
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18 stitches).
Rnd 4: *2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (24 stitches).
Rnd 5: *3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (30 stitches).
Rnd 6: *4 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (36 stitches).

Rnd 40: work 3 chain stitches, from the wrong side of your work insert your hook in the stitch
where you worked the 1st shell and crochet 1 single crochet, *6 chain stitches, from the wrong side
of your work insert your hook in the stitch where you worked the next shell and crochet 1 single
crochet* repeat from *to* till the last shell. Then, work 3 chain stitches and close the round with a
slip stitch on the 1st chain stitch of the round (10 arches of 6 chain stitches and 2 half-arches of 3
chain stitches).

Rnd 41: Work 4 double crochet in the 3 chain-stitch-arches and 7 double crochet in the 6 chain-
stitch-arches, working 1 single crochet between shells. Close the round with a slip stitch (11 shells).
Rnd 42: With slip stitches place your hook between 2 shells. Work 3 chain stitches and from the
wrong side of your work crochet 1single crochet in the centre of the 1st chain-stitch-arch of rnd 41,
*6 chain stitches, from the wrong side of your work crochet 1single crochet in the centre of the
next chain-stitch-arch of rnd 41* repeat from *to* till the last shell. Then, work 3 chain stitches and
close the round with a slip stitch on the 1st chain stitch of the round (10 arches of 6 chain stitches

• On round 39: Start the round between 2 shells and crochet: *1 single crochet inserting your
hook 2 rounds below, 2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch twice, 2 single
crochet*, repeat from *to* till the end of the round.
• On rounds 41 and 43: Start the round between 2 shells and crochet: *1 single crochet

Beak (mustard color):
Into a double adjustable ring crochet:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 3: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches)

Rnd 5: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18 stitches).

beak and 2 nostrils on the top.

Sew the eyeballs to the head. Then place the eyelids over the top and external parts of the eyeballs
and sew them with invisible stitches.

Sew the comb centered across the tip of the head, 7 rounds above the beak.

Wattles (red color):


Work a foundation chain of 10 stitches (do not close them into a circle) and around them crochet: 2
Single crochet in first stitch, 8 single crochet, 4 single crochet in next stitch, 8 single crochet, 2
single crochet in next stitch (24 stitches).
Fold the wattles in half, leaving 1 side longer than the other and sew it under the beak.

Legs (Make 2):


The legs are crocheted from top to bottom and have to be stuffed as you go.
Beige color:
Into a double adjustable ring crochet:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches).

Once you’ve finished crocheting the third toe, do not cut the yarn off. Place one toe next to

Sew the feathers (without stuffing them) to the tail base piece’s opening making the stitches from
round 15 in order to get the picot stitches over the feathers. Then, sew the tail to the back side of the
body above round 12, as you can see in the upper image.

Ending details
Sew the head and body by their openings, making the stitches from round 38 of the head in order to
get the feathers over the body and adding more stuffing if necessary.

Sew the beak to the head, placing its superior border over round 14 and its inferior border over
round 26. Thread a tapestry needle with black yarn and with chain stitches embroider the mouth
around the beak and 2 nostrils on the top.

Sew the eyeballs to the head and then, place the eyelids over the top and external parts of the
eyeballs and sew them with invisible stitches.

Sew the comb centered across the tip of the head, 7 rounds above the beak.

Fold the wattles in half, leaving 1 side longer than the other and sew it under the beak.

Sew the feet underneath the legs. To assemble the legs, first thread a tapestry needle with beige yarn
and make a stitch in the inner side of the leg between rounds 11 & 12. Then, pass the needle
through the body from side to side between rounds 12 and 13, pulling it tight in order to get the leg

jointed to the body (do it twice to keep the union firm). Repeat this procedure for the other leg.

Sew the wings to both sides of the body, placing their superior border over the union between the
body and head (underneath the feather collar) and with their Piece A to the front.

Sew the feathers (without stuffing them) to the tail base piece’s opening making the stitches from
round 15 in order to get the picot stitches over the feathers. Then, sew the tail to the back side of the
body above round 12.
