The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into modern educational systems has been a topic of consid
erable interest and debate among scholars. While some argue that AI enhances the learning experience by pro
viding personalized instruction and automating administrative tasks, others contend that it poses significant ris
ks, such as (18)______.
One of the primary benefits of incorporating AI into educational settings is its ability to tailor learning mat
erials to individual students' needs. AI-driven systems can analyze a student's learning pace and style, (19)___
____. For instance, AI-powered adaptive learning platforms can adjust the difficulty level of course materials
based on a student's performance, (20)________.
Moreover, AI can significantly reduce the workload of educators by automating tasks such as grading and
data analysis. This allows teachers to focus more on what they do best: providing guidance, support, and ment
orship to their students. Additionally, AI can help identify learning gaps and suggest interventions, (21)_____
___.
Despite these advantages, there are also concerns about the impact of AI on education. Critics argue that ov
er-reliance on technology could lead to a lack of human interaction, which is essential for developing social sk
ills and emotional intelligence. Furthermore, the use of AI may widen the gap between students from different
socio-economic backgrounds, as access to AI technology is not equally distributed.
In conclusion, while AI offers numerous benefits in enhancing educational outcomes, it is crucial to addres
s the challenges it presents. (22)_______, educators can harness the potential of AI to create a more inclusive
and effective learning environment.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the best ans
wer to each of the following questions.
“Have smartphones destroyed a generation?” Jean Twenge – a psychology professor at San Diego State Un
iversity – asked in her controversial book, iGen. In the book, she argues that those born after 1995 are facing
“a mental-health crisis”, and she believes it can be linked to growing up with their noses pressed against a scre
en. Her newest study provides more support for that connection, showing that teens who spent more than an h
our or two a day interacting with their gadgets were less happy on average than those who had more face time
with others.
Twenge’s conclusions have come up against criticism in the past. Some have accused her work of oversim
plifying or overlooking data that may tell a slightly different story. Twenge recognizes that her study suggests
only a link between screen use and psychological well-being. A possible explanation is that kids are runnin
g to their screens to escape from the things in life that are making them unhappy. However, the surveys c
an’t say whether screen time directly changes teens’ mental health, the research states.
Philanthropist Melinda Gates, whose three children were also born after 1995, wrote in The Washington Po
st, “phones and apps aren’t good or bad by themselves, but for adolescents who don’t yet have the emotional t
ools to overcome life’s problems, they can aggravate the difficulties of growing up.” At the same time, she sa
id, kids are learning on their devices and connecting in novel ways. Other studies have explored the connectio
n between social media and isolation and how “likes” activate the brain’s reward centre. Some analyses have f
ound that moderate use of these technologies is not harmful in itself and can even improve children’s social sk
ills and build emotional strength.
There is no doubt that people are spending more time on these devices and that technology is having a maj
or impact on kids and adults alike. “These are really important devices that have changed our lives in so many
ways, not just for the worse but for the better,” said Amanda Lenhart, deputy director of the Better Life Lab at
New America. But the latest research “is looking straight at technology and wanting it to be the scapegoat.”

people of Kenya. Maruge also wanted to improve primary education for children in Africa. Maruge died in 20
09, at age 89. However, his story lives on. The 2010 movie The First Grader showed Maruge's amazing fight
to get an education. Many older Kenyans decided to start school after seeing The First Grader. One of those p

language, so I came to school to learn. That is why it is important for his story to be known.” [IV]
