(b) Crucial date The crucial date for determining the age limit will be the closing
date for receipt of Online Application from candidates. Only Matriculation/SSC/Birth
Certificate issued by concerned Education Board/Competent Authority will be
considered as proof of Date of Birth.

7. Mode of Selection.

(a) Scheme of Written Examination - All eligible candidates will have to appear
in the written examination. (Discipline – wise, probably on same day) consisting of 100
objective type questions based on syllabus as appended below:-

(A) Syllabus for Chargeman (Mechanic)

i. General English (a) Questions based on passage,(b) Change to


passive/ active voice,(c) Punctuation (d) Use of adjectives, use of verbs,
use of pronouns, prepositions (e) Tenses, (f) Substituting phrasal verbs
for expression, (g) One word substitution, (h) Correction of sentences.
(10 marks)

ii. Numerical Ability/ Logical Reasoning: (a) Basic Maths, quadratic


equations, use of logarithm & Mathematical tables, average, percentage,
ratio and proportion (b) Determination of area of ellipse, parabola,
hyperbola and other irregular, surfaces (c) Surface area and volume of
pyramid, cone, sphere, cylinder etc. with problems (d) Basic idea of
function, limits, continuity, differential and integral calculus (e) Scalars
and vectors, vector algebra, dot, cross and triple product (f) Matrix
algebra, calculation of inverse, Eigen values and Eigen vectors (g)
Elementary logical problems (h) Elementary statistics-calculation of
mean, median, mode, data analysis.(10 marks)

iii. Science & Technology: (a) Newton’s laws of motion,


Archimedes principle, mass, weight, density, gravity (b) Numerical on
work, force, power, friction, inclined plane, lever (c)Basics of optics and
laws of reflection/refraction, wave propagation (d) Propagation of sound
waves, Doppler effect, ultrasonic, waves (e) Laws of electricity &
magnetism with numerical on current, voltage resistors etc, Gauss’s law,
AC circuits, oscillators (f) Elasticity, surface tension, viscosity and
escape velocity problems (g) Safety precaution & fire prevention, use of
various fire extinguishers (h) Knowledge of various precision measuring
instruments and their counts (i) Knowledge of mechanical engineering
drawing (first and third angle projection, isometric view) (j) Knowledge of
limit, tolerance, Geometric tolerance clearance, fits, jigs & fixtures, dies,

(B) Syllabus for Chargeman (Ammunition & Explosive)

i. General English: (a)Questions based on passage,(b) Change to


passive/ active voice,(c) Punctuation,(d) Use of adjectives, use of verbs,
use of pronouns, prepositions, (e) Tenses, (f) Substituting phrasal verbs
for expression, (g) One word substitution, (h) Correction of sentences.
(10 marks)

Knowledge of various precision measuring instruments and their least
count, (m) Working Knowledge on computer & internet. (70 Marks)

The question paper will be provided in English and Hindi


languages only. Selection of candidates will be purely based on the
performance in the Written Test and the Merit list drawn Discipline - wise
thereof.

(b) Date of Examination.- Exact date, time and venue of written examination
will be communicated on the Admit Card issued to the eligible applicants. Websites
www.hqwncrecruitment.com and indiannnavy.nic.in may also be referred from
time to time for any further instructions.

(d) Provisional Appointment Letter - The appointment of provisionally


selected candidates in each discipline will be strictly based on the overall merit
position in written examination prepared discipline-wise, subject to satisfaction of
Document Verification, Medical Examination and other requirement as specified, by
the Government of India and Appointing Authority.

(e) Document Verification- All relevant documents pertaining to registration of


application, age, education, identity, address, category, caste validity certificate etc.
will be scrutinized and verified prior to provisional appointment as per extant DOP&T
policy. Date and venue for document verification will be intimated to the provisionally
selected candidates on their registered e-mail IDs and by post.

(f) Scribe- Visually Impaired (VH) candidates with visual disabilities of more
than 40 percent and cerebral palsy candidates can avail the assistance of a scribe in
the written examination subject to such request of scribe being made in application
form. The other facilities will also be extended, as per Dept. of Disability Affairs OM F.
No. 16- 110/2003-DD.III dated 26 Feb 2013.

8. Opening and Closing date for Online Application

Online registration of applications On the fourth day of publication in


(Opening date) Employment News.
Last date of registration Twenty First day from Online registration
(Closing date) Opening date (upto 1700 hrs).

9. Guidelines for filling Online Application

(a) Candidates are required to apply online using the website


www.hqwncrecruitment.com. The link for submitting online application form will
open on fourth day from the date of issue of Advertisement in the Employment News
and it will remain open for next 21 days from the opening date of online
registration. Before filling online application form, applicants are advised to download
online Information Guidelines containing detailed instructions for filling up online
application form.
