IV. Reading (1.6 pts)

Read the following passage and choose the correct answer for each question.
PASSAGE: The Future of Energy – Green Solutions
Today, the world is facing serious problems related to energy use. Fossil fuels like
coal, oil, and gas have been the main energy sources for centuries, but they are
non-renewable and create harmful pollution. Scientists and engineers are working
hard to find new ways to produce energy that are both clean and renewable.
One of the most promising solutions is solar energy. Solar panels are now installed
on the roofs of many homes and buildings. They absorb sunlight and turn it into
electricity without releasing carbon dioxide. Another renewable source is wind
energy. Huge wind turbines are placed in windy areas or offshore to create clean
power. In some countries, wind farms supply electricity for entire towns.
Besides solar and wind, people are also exploring tidal and geothermal energy.
Tidal energy comes from the movement of sea water, and geothermal energy uses
heat from inside the Earth. These energy sources are reliable, but they can be
expensive to develop.
Although renewable energy has many advantages, it also has challenges. Solar
panels don’t work at night or on cloudy days, and wind turbines don’t turn when
the wind is weak. To solve this, researchers are developing better batteries and
smart energy systems that can store power and use it when needed.
In the future, more countries will likely switch to green energy to protect the
environment and reduce climate change. However, it will take time, investment,
and cooperation from people all over the world to make this change possible.
Question 23. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To explain how fossil fuels are made
B. To describe how people can save money on energy
C. To discuss clean energy sources and their future
D. To show how to build solar panels at home

mentioned in the passage?
A. Coal B. Solar C. Wind D. Tidal

A. Because they look beautiful
B. Because there is more wind there
C. Because they don’t make noise
D. Because it is cheaper
Question 26. What is one problem with solar energy?
A. It causes air pollution
B. It is not renewable
C. It does not work well at night
D. It is very noisy
Question 27. What does geothermal energy use?
