0.1 Terms
0.1.1 General terms
Official languages of the EU
At the present time, the official languages of the European Union include:
Danish, German, English, Finnish, French, Greek, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese,
Swedish and Spanish.

Operating instructions
The operating instructions are an essential document that must be included
in the delivery of every product. It contains all the information that is neces-
sary to safely operate and maintain the product.

QUANTUM operation
The chapters «Operating elements», «Commissioning» and «Operation» are
extremely machine-dependent. These chapters are therefore supplied to the
customer in a separate machine-specific manual called «USTER®
QUANTUM 2 Operation».

OEM documents

Operating instructions of (sub)suppliers (Original Equipment Manufacturer)


for independent devices or installation components that are part of or form a
functional unit with the product. These documents are included in the deliv-
ery of the product and are referred to in the Operating Instruction Manual.

Original language
The language in which the document was initially prepared is referred to as
the original language.

The original language of this operating instruction manual is German.

QUANTUM 2

Retrofit The QUANTUM system is installed on an existing machine.


OEM OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
The QUANTUM installation is delivered to the customer by
the machine manufacturer together with the machine.
Scatter plot Graphic representation of the detected events within a class
matrix. One event = 1 point.
CAY Computer Aided Yarn clearing
Program for a computer-assisted optimization of the clear-
ing limit.
Pearl chain Several successive small thick places of which the fre-
quency but not the size is considered disturbing. This event
can also be referred to as a multiple fault.
Spinning
machine In this operating instruction manual, the term «spinning
machine» generally stands for «rotor spinning machine».
