resized. It's like pinning an object to a specific spot on a page.
12. What do you understand by the term Table of Contents? List the
characteristics of a good 'Table of content’ in a word processor.
Ans. The Table of Contents (TOC) consists of headings and sub-headings of a book
or document. It is a necessary index, generally available in long documents,
books, drafts, etc. It includes titles or first-level headings, such as chapter names,
and sometimes it even includes second-level headings, and occasionally third-
level headings. A Table of Contents acts as a map for the users. It allows them to
find information in the document using the chapter names and page numbers.
A good Table of Contents has the following characteristics:
• It should be easy to read and simple to use.
• It should be organised and formatted properly.
• It must be accurate and easily accessible.
• It should be given after the title and copyright page.
14. Give any two characteristics of a template in Open Office Writer. Explain the
following terms with respect to positioning the graphics in a document:

enables you to change the stacking order of objects in your document.
b. Text wrapping: Text wrapping refers to surrounding an image or a drawing
object within the text. Writer provides different options to wrap an image within
the text.
15. Write the main steps to group drawing objects in Writer.
Ans. To group drawing objects in Writer, follow these steps:
1. Select Objects : Click and drag to highlight all the drawing objects you want to
group.
2. Group : Right-click on one of the selected objects and choose "Group" from the
context menu.
3. Apply : The objects will now be grouped together, allowing you to move, resize,
or format them as a single unit.

1.Nitesh's teacher has asked him to create a custom style using the drag and drop
method. Help him perform the given task.
Ans: To build a custom style in Writer using drag and drop, follow these steps:
• Open the document and format the text (such as paragraph or title) as per
your requirement.
• Open the Styles pane, and select a style category under which you want to
create a style. For example, select the Paragraph Styles category.
• Now, select the formatted text (on which you want to base the style) and drag
and drop the selection into the Styles pane. When dragging text, observe the
cursor shape, as it changes to indicate if the intended action is possible.
• The Create Style dialog box opens. Type a name for the new style and click on
OK. A new style will be added in the Styles pane under the selected category.
2.Pooja wants to load a style in the current document from another document.
What steps should she follow to accomplish the given task?
Ans: Sometimes, you may want to copy styles from a template or another
document. Once copied, in the list of styles, you can create a new document
having same appearance as old one with no extra efforts.
To do so, follow these steps:
Open the document in which you want to copy the styles.
• In the Styles pane, click on the New Style from Selection icon A and select
Load Styles. Or
Click on the Styles menu and select Load Styles.
• The Load Styles dialog box opens. Choose any or all from the following
options to select the styles to be copied.
Text: It loads the paragraph and the character styles from the selected
document into the current document.
Frame: It loads the frame styles from the selected document into the
current document.
Page: It loads the page styles from the selected document into the
current document.
Numbering: It loads the numbering styles from the selected document
into the current document.
Overwrite: It replaces styles in the current document that have the same
name as the styles you are loading.
• Find and select the template or document to copy styles from. Or
If you want to copy styles from a text document, click on the From File
button. The Open dialog box opens. Locate and select the document and
click on Open
• Styles of the selected document or template will be loaded in the current
document.
3. Rohan wants to insert some pictures in a document. Suggest any two ways to
do so. Also, describe the steps to accomplish the task.
Ans: Inserting an Image Using Drag and Drop Method
Another option to insert images in the document is by using Drag and Drop
option. It refers to selecting an image from a particular location and dragging and
dropping it in the document where required. To do So,follow the given steps:
Open the document and move the cursor to the location where you want to
insert the image.
Now, locate the image on your computer using the Windows Explorer (in
Windows 7) or using the File Explorer (in Windows 10).
• Select the image and drag it into your document.
Drop it where you want it to appear, and the image will be inserted into the
document.
Inserting an Image Using Copy and Paste Method
Sometimes, you may want to insert an image in your document from any other
previously created document. In order to do this, follow the given steps:
• Open the document in which the image already exists.
• Click on the image and press Ctrl+C to copy it. The image gets copied to the
clipboard.
• Now, open the other document and place the cursor where you want to paste
the image.
• Press Ctrl+V. The copied image is pasted in the document.
4. Rayan has inserted a picture in a document and wants to resize and rotate it.
Suggest the steps to complete the task.
Ans: Resizing is the process of reducing or enlarging the size of the image. To
resize an image, follow these steps:
• Select the image that you want to resize. You will notice four corner
handles and four side handles. • Drag any Side handle in or out to shrink
or stretch it in a direction.
• Drag any Corner handle in or out to make it smaller or bigger,
respectively. Corner handles enable you to increase and decrease the size
diagonally.
Rotating an Image
To rotate an image or a shape, follow these steps:
• Select the image that you want to rotate.
• Click on the Rotate button on the Image toolbar.
• Four rotation handles appear. Now, bring the pointer on a Rotation handle
and drag it clockwise or anticlockwise to rotate the image or shape.
5. Sunita wants to create a flowchart to provide a solution to a problem, in a
Writer document. Suggest a suitable option that she can use to create different
shapes of a flowchart.

6. Jyoti has created an invitation card to invite people on her parents' anniversary.
She has included different drawing objects in the card. Suggest some steps to her
for grouping all the objects together so that they can be treated as a single
object.

It is often convenient to group shapes together so that they can be treated as a
single object. A group si objects can be formatted in a way similar to an individual
object. To group objects, follow these steps:
• Draw four or five drawing objects.
• Click on the Select tool on the Drawing toolbar.
• Drag it over the objects to select them.
Or
Hold Shift Key to and select all objects by clicking on it
• Once, all the objects are selected, click on the Group button on the
Drawing Object Properties toolbar. Or
Right-click and select Group from the context menu. Or
Select Format > Group > Group option from the main menu.
• All the selected objects will be grouped.
7. Anand has made his annual report using Writer. He is having difficulty in
positioning the images within the text. Guide him on how to adjust the text
around the image.
