DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM

1. General
The power door lock control system has been adopted as optional equipment.
This system has the following functions:

Function Outline
Key-linked lock and unlock This function, which is linked with the key cylinder, can lock or unlock all the
function doors when a lock or unlock operation is effected.
Key confine prevention Provided that the key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder and the driver’s
function door is open, an attempt to lock the door will cause all the doors to unlock.
Manual unlock prohibition When a lock operation is effected through wireless door lock remote control,
function this function prohibits the driver’s door lock switch from becoming unlocked.
This function is provided to unlock the driver door by turning the key cylinder
2-step unlock function
first and to unlock passenger doors by turning it the second time.
This function is to open the glass hatch established on the driver’s side of the
Glass hatch open function
instrument panel by pressing the glass hatch opener switch.

3. Glass Hatch Junction Switch

For the power supply to the rear wiper system and rear defogger system, a glass hatch junction switch has
been adopted as this glass hatch opens or closes.
If the driver happen to touch the glass hatch junction switch terminal with his hand while the glass hatch is
opening, the integration relay shut down the power supply to the glass hatch junction switch by a signal from
the glass hatch courtesy switch while the glass hatch is open.

WIRELESS DOOR LOCK REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM

1. General
The wireless door lock remote control system has been adopted on all models as optional equipment.
This system is convenient for locking and unlocking all the doors, from at a distance. This system in the ’03
Corolla Matrix has the following features:
In this system, the wireless door control receiver performs the code identification process and the door
control relay effects the door lock control. Serial data link is provided for communication between the
wireless door control receiver and the integration relay.
A key-holder type transmitter has been adopted, and it contains the following four switches: the door lock
switch, door unlock switch, glass hatch open switch and panic switch.
A rolling code system, in which the signal configuration changes each time when a signal is transmitted
by the transmitter, has been adopted.

3. Function

General
The wireless door lock remote control system in the ’03 Corolla Matrix has the following functions.

Function Outline
All Doors Lock
Pressing the door lock switch of the transmitter locks all doors.
Operation
All Doors Unlock
Pressing the door unlock switch twice within 3 seconds opens all doors after
(2-step Unlock)
opening the driver’s door.
Operation
Glass Hatch Keeping the HATCH switch of the transmitter pressed longer than about 1.0
Open Operation second opens the glass hatch.
Answer Back The hazard light is flashed once when locking, and the hazard light is flashed
Operation twice when unlocking, to inform that the operation has been completed.
Panic Alarm Pressing the PANIC switch of the transmitter activates the alarm (to sound the
Operation vehicle horn, flash the headlights and hazard lights).
If none of the doors are opened within 30 seconds after they are unlocked by

automatically.
Transmitter Switch When an ignition key is in the ignition key cylinder or any of the door is not

Prevention Function cancelled to prevent miss-operation.
If a door is not locked in response to the locking operation of the transmitter,
Repeat Function
the integration relay will output a lock signal after the 1 second.
Security Function Sends an operation signal as a rolling code.
Transmitter

recognition codes in the EEPROM that is contained in the door control relay.
Registration Function

Transmitter Recognition Code Registration Function

The table below shows the 4 special coded ID registration function modes through which up to 4 different
codes can be registered. The codes are electronically registered (written to and stored) in the EEPROM.
For details of the recognition code registration procedure, refer to the 2003 Corolla Matrix Repair Manual
(Pub. No. RM940U) to register the codes correctly.

Mode Function
Erases all previously registered codes and registers only the newly received
Rewrite Mode codes. This mode is used whenever a transmitter or the integration relay is
replaced.
Adds a newly received code while preserving any previously registered codes.
Add Mode This mode is used when adding a new transmitter. If the number of codes exceeds
4, the oldest registered code is erased first.
Confirms how many codes are currently registered. When adding a new code, this
Confirm Mode
mode is used to check how many codes already exist.
To delete all the registered codes and to prohibit the wireless door lock function.
Prohibit Mode
This mode is used when the transmitter is lost.
