as biased in regional conflicts.

Supportive Yet Strategic Points for Somalia (Iran Ally)

● NPT Withdrawal Justification: Emphasize Iran’s right under Article X of the NPT to
withdraw if its supreme interests are threatened. Highlight Western “strategic
imbalances” and “economic coercion” as legitimate reasons. Stress the failure of
impartiality by IAEA and aggressive actions (like Israeli strikes) forcing Iran’s hand.

● Self-Defense Against Aggression: Stress that Israel’s missile strike killing the
Supreme Leader’s wife was an illegal act violating sovereignty (Article 2(4) UN Charter)
and forced Iran’s missile retaliation as lawful self-defense under Article 51.

● Right to Nuclear Technology: Affirm Iran’s sovereign right to peaceful nuclear

technology and scientific advancement while condemning double standards of
nuclear-armed Israel refusing to join NPT or disarm.

● Highlight Western Hypocrisy: Point out the hypocrisy of US and allies threatening war
and imposing ultimatums while ignoring covert intelligence operations and sabotage
(e.g., British SAS arrests), destabilizing the region covertly.

● Condemn Foreign Military Aid: Condemn the delivery of Russian weapons as an

attempt to balance power and protect Iranian sovereignty against hostile Western and
Israeli aggression, not to provoke war.

Questions to Use on Opponents (While Supporting Iran)

● To Israel: “How can Israel justify a missile strike on a sovereign state’s leader’s
residence, killing civilians, without breaching international law? How does Israel
reconcile this with calls for regional stability?”

● To US & Allies: “Given the leaked plans for war and ultimatums, how can the US claim
to seek peace while threatening nuclear-armed Iran? Isn’t this provocative and
counterproductive?”

● To Western Intelligence Agencies: “Can the Security Council address covert

operations—such as the British SAS operative arrested in Iran—that violate sovereignty
and escalate conflict secretly?”

● To Russia: “How does Russia’s military aid to Iran contribute to regional stability and
deter unlawful attacks on Iranian sovereignty?”

● To the International Community: “Why is there no equal pressure on Israel’s

undeclared nuclear arsenal while Iran is condemned for defensive nuclear
development?”

Diplomatic & Speech Strategies

● Highlight Iran’s role as a victim of illegal aggression and Western double standards
on nuclear proliferation.

● Emphasize Somalia’s call for dialogue, respect for sovereignty, and peaceful
resolution — rejecting escalation triggered by unlawful strikes and threats.

● Stress regional security depends on fairness, including recognizing Iran’s rights and
calling out Israel’s lack of transparency on nuclear weapons.

● Advocate for UN monitoring and balanced enforcement of international law on all

sides, insisting on no selective justice.

Somalia 60-Second Speech — January 2026 Update

Thank you, Madam President. Somalia remains deeply concerned about the escalating tensions
in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. We reaffirm Iran’s
sovereign right to self-defense, especially in light of Israel’s unlawful missile strike that tragically
killed the Iranian Supreme Leader’s wife—an act that violated international law and sovereignty.

Recent events, including the sinking of the British HMS Defender in the Strait of Hormuz after
reckless actions in Iranian waters, and the arrest of a British intelligence operative caught
conducting covert operations inside Iran, further expose the dangerous provocations
undermining peace efforts.
Somalia calls on all member states to respect sovereignty and international law. We urge
restraint from further military aggression and advocate for renewed diplomatic dialogue. The
international community must focus on transparency and fairness, addressing covert
interference that fuels instability.

We stand with Iran’s right to pursue peaceful nuclear technology under global norms, while
condemning double standards that ignore Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal. Somalia calls for
balanced, multilateral efforts to restore calm and security in the region. Thank you.

Thank you, Madam President. Somalia condemns the continued cycle of violence in the Middle
East, sparked by illegal aggression against Iran’s sovereignty, including the deadly strike on the
Supreme Leader’s residence and the loss of innocent life.

We also denounce reckless foreign interference, such as the covert intelligence operations
inside Iran exposed by recent arrests, and provocative military actions like the sinking of the
UK’s HMS Defender in Iranian waters.

Somalia supports Iran’s legitimate right to defend itself and pursue peaceful nuclear technology,
while calling on all parties, including Israel, to uphold international law and avoid further
escalations.

We urge the Security Council and the international community to promote fairness,
transparency, and peaceful dialogue — the only viable path to lasting security and stability in the
region.

Somalia remains ready to work with all stakeholders to help restore calm and protect civilians
caught in this dangerous conflict. Thank you.
