Prerequisite: Analyse and compare the ideas and theories of Indian Political Thinkers

Course Objectives: In the epoch that began with the philosophical movements which are expressed in the
mystical texts known as Upanisads and culminated in the regime of the emperor Aśoka, whose rule
extended over all but southernmost India, the dimensions of Indian social thought were established. During
these formative centuries, roughly from the seventh to the middle of the third century B.C., new modes of
economic production, the incorporation of indigenous peoples into the Aryan community, and other social
changes rendered the old agencies of integration inadequate; with many of the certainties of life dissolving
and new social relationships demanding new justifications, men were faced with the need to re-examine
basic values and institutions. A variety of ideas about the nature and destiny of human life began to
challenge traditional religious conceptions.

Prerequisite: Comparative politics is significant because it helps people understand the nature and working
of political frameworks around the world

Course Objective: Comparative politics is significant because it helps people understand the nature and
working of political frameworks around the world. There are many types of political systems worldwide
according to the authentic, social, ethnic, racial, and social history. Indeed, even comparative constructions
of political association shift starting with one country then onto the next. For instance, India and the United
States are majority-rule nations; nonetheless, the U.S. has a liberal vote-based presidential system contrasted
with the parliamentary system used in India. Even the political decision measure is more diverse in the
United States when found in light of the Indian popular government. The United States has a president as
their leader, while India has a prime minister. Relative legislative issues encourage us to comprehend these
central contracts and how the two nations are altogether different regardless of being majority rule. This
field of study is critical for the fields of international relations and conflict resolution. Near politics
encourages international relations to clarify worldwide legislative issues and the present winning conditions
worldwide.

Prerequisite: International Organizations are defined by reference to their legal functions and
responsibilities, with limited field of activity.

Course Objective: International Organizations are defined by reference to their legal functions and
responsibilities, with limited field of activity. Each constitution sets out aims and objects and is accordingly
provided to achieve those objects. There are disputes among the states of the world causing threats.
International Organizations are aimed to reduce the possibility of those threats and aggression. The League
of Nations was established to maintain international peace and security but the League could not survive for
long. The responsibility undertaken by the League did not die with its demise; the United Nations took over
responsibility. The process of keeping peace and security is material might be disruption but the ongoing
mechanism of the introduction of I/Os shall keep it alive with the creation of another organization.
International Organizations are created to further political and national security on the one hand and
economic and social welfare on the other. The development of political and national security involves the
organization in the prevention of armed conflict activity directed toward economic and social welfare is
undertaken whether problems in these areas are related to the peace or not International Organizations, as a
whole, have two main objective.

Course Objective: Federalism is a political structure in which power is distributed between a central
authority and separate powers. A federation usually has two tiers of government. The government is one of
them. It is generally responsible for a few subjects of shared national interest for the whole country. The rest
are Governments at the level of provinces or states that take care of much of the day-to-day administration
of their situation. To safeguard and promote unity of the country, while at the same time accommodate
regional diversity. Therefore, two aspects are crucial for the institutions and practice of federalism.
Governments at different levels should agree to some rules of power sharing. They should also trust that
each would abide by its part of the agreement. Good federal system has both aspects: mutual trust and
agreement to liven together. Different tiers of government govern the same citizens, but each tier has its
authority in Specific laws, taxes, and administration matters. In the constitution, the jurisdictions of the
respective tiers or levels of government are specified. Thus, the existence and authority of each tier of
government are constitutionally guaranteed. The fundamental provisions of the constitution cannot be
altered by one level of government.

Prerequisite: , India’s foreign policy adopted an approach by integrating economic diplomacy with political
diplomacy.

Course Objective: The foreign policy of India aims to maintain international peace and security, to oppose
imperialism, to stand against the apartheid policy, to propagate the peaceful and political settlement of
international disputes, to foster peaceful coexistence, to remain non-aligned and non-committed, and to
maintain the unity and solidarity of the Third World. The important objectives of India’s foreign policy
include preservation of national interest, achievement of world peace, disarmament, independence for Afro-
Asian nations. These objectives are sought to be achieved through some guiding principles such as
Panchsheel, NAM, and others. The territorial integrity and protection of national boundaries from foreign
aggression is the core interest of a nation. India had gained hard-earned independence from foreign rule
after a long time. Thus, it was natural for her to give due emphasis on the independence of foreign
policy. India’s effort to strengthen Afro-Asian solidarity endorsement of principles of non-interference, in
the internal affairs of other nations and finally the adoption of the policy of non-alignment should be seen in
this light. To sustain the country’s growth trajectory, India needs to interact with its foreign partners to bring
in Foreign Direct Investments, financial assistance, and transfer of technology for schemes and programmes
like Make in India, Skills India, Smart Cities, infrastructure development, Digital India, Clean India etc.
Therefore, it can be noted that in recent years, India’s foreign policy adopted an approach by integrating
economic diplomacy with political diplomacy.

Prerequisite: It is a large and comprehensive area of study that in some academic contexts is a separate
discipline from political science.

Course Objective: It is a large and comprehensive area of study that in some academic contexts is a
separate discipline from political science. As a separate discipline, international relations (or what is
sometimes called international studies, international affairs, area studies, global affairs, or global studies) is
a rich interdisciplinary field of study that draws direct connections to other disciplines such as geography,
psychology, demography, history, economics, and feminism, among others. In academia outside the UK and
the US, the study of political science is often exclusively the study of international relations. In American
academia especially, international relations is typically considered a sub-discipline of the broader field of
political science, and for our purposes here, we will view international relations in this context. The
academic study of international relations has been traditionally dominated by positivist inquiry—it seeks a
descriptive and objective understanding of our global world and the forces and relations that shape the
international context. Positive statements, in this sense, are contrasted with normative statements: the former
are statements that describe what is, whereas the latter are statements that directions for what ought to be
(see the normative basis of political theory in Chapter Six for more discussion on this matter).

Prerequisite: In Chhattisgarh there was no strong popular statehood movement.

Course Objective: Despite some of Chhattisgarh’s affinities with neighbouring Jharkhand in terms of its
large adivasi population, its endowment with minerals and forests, and the nature of industrial development,
the history of the statehood idea in these two regions is dissimilar. In Chhattisgarh there was no strong
popular statehood movement, nor a strongly mobilised politics of indigeneity connected to the idea of a
Chhattisgarh region. Indeed, the state’s creation alongside Jharkhand and Uttarakhand is regarded by many

51
in the region as something of a mystery. Although statehood for Chhattisgarh was proposed as early as
1948, this chapter shows that it was competition in the 1990s between the two national parties vying for
power in the region—Congress and the BJP—that brought the issue to the fore rather than pressure from
social movements. Nevertheless, some common currents with developments in Jharkhand and Uttarakhand
are identified: the emergence of more competitive politics in the context of a decline in Congress Party
dominance, the influence of Mandal, contentions over the trajectory of industrial development and the
potential emergence of ‘sons of the soil’ politics.

1 It consists of an executive, led by the Governor of Chhattisgarh, a L1, L2, L3
judiciary and a legislative branch. Like other states in India, the head
of state of Chhattisgarh is the governor, appointed by the president of
India on the advice of the central government. His or her post is
largely ceremonial.
2 The first was Ajit Jogi of the Indian National Congress. He was L1, L2, L3, L4
succeeded in 2003 by Raman Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party who
served three consecutive five-year terms. His successor, and current
incumbent, is the Indian National Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel
who was elected in 2018.
3 It is a leading producer of minerals such as coal, iron ore and L1, L2, L3, L4
dolomite. Moreover, considerable reserves of bauxite, limestone and
quartzite are available in the state. The state accounts for 35.4% of tin
ore reserves of India. Chhattisgarh is the only state in India that
produced tin concentrates.
4 Home to the country's widest waterfalls, caves, lush green forests, L1, L2, L3, L4
ancient monuments, rare wild life, exquisitely curved temples,
Buddhist sites and hill plateaus. Chhattisgarh boasts of more than
80% of bio diversity that is not found anywhere across the country.

Prerequisite: The academic study of international relations has been traditionally dominated by positivist
inquiry.

Prerequisite: A regional party may gain a majority and rule a particular state. If a party is represented in
more than 4 states

Course Objective: India has a multi-party system, where there are a number of national as well as
regional parties. A regional party may gain a majority and rule a particular state. If a party is
represented in more than 4 states, it would be labelled a national party. Pressure groups have become a
very important part of an administrative system. These groups try to pressurise the administrative and
political system of a country either to ensure that their interests are promoted or to see that at least
their interests are not relegated to the background. No system can function effectively without taking
their viewpoint into consideration. India is the largest Democracy in the World, Voting is one of the
most commonly used terms in contemporary age of democratic politics. In democratic systems, and
their number is quite large and ever increasing, each adult citizen uses ‘voting’ as a means for
expressing his approval or disapproval of governmental decisions, policies and programmers of
various political parties and the qualities of the candidates who are engaged in the struggle to get the
status of being the representatives of the people. The term bureaucracy refers to a body of non-elected
governing officials as well as to an administrative policy-making group. Historically, a bureaucracy
was a government administration managed by departments staffed with non-elected officials
