Should friends always tell each other the truth,
even if it’s hurtful? Why?
Would you rather have one best friend or ten
good friends?
If a friend betrayed your trust once, would you
forgive them? Why or why not?
WHAT DO YOU THINK

LIFE EVENTS
I was born in a small town in the north of England and brought up by my grandparents after my parents
emigrated to Australia when I was a baby. I started school when I was five and grew up dreaming of
becoming a teacher. After I left school, I went to university in London, where I learned to drive and
eventually got my first job as a teaching assistant.
During my last year at university, I fell in love with a classmate. A year later, we got engaged, and shortly
after, we got married. We bought a flat together in the city and decided to settle down. By the time we
were thirty, we had started a family.
But life didn’t go as planned. We split up a few years later and eventually got divorced. After that, I
decided to move house and have a change of career. I quit my job and decided to start a business – a
small bookshop café.
A few years later, my grandfather passed away, and I inherited his house in the countryside. That’s when
I decided to leave the city and live a quieter life. I met someone new, and now we’re thinking about
buying a house together. My daughter just left home to go to university, and I recently became a
grandparent, which feels amazing.
Next year, I’ll be 65 and plan to retire. Life hasn’t always been easy, but it’s certainly been full of
surprises.
