Fire Drill - Galley
-Scenario:
Vessel was underway at sea. Smoke was seen in the Galley. It was immediately reported to
the bridge. Master then took control. All crew mustered in respective station. Team leaders
reported all accounted. Individual duties & responsibilities carried out. Distress message
sent. Coastal State, Managing Office, Commercial Manager, Charterer& other concerns
notified. Watertight doors, fire doors, electrical supply, dampers, mechanical ventilation, fire
louvers closed & shut off. Lifeboat prepared for immediate launching. Fire pump started.
Main fire-fighters lead by Chief Officer entered thru A-deck Port Side (300 bars pressure).
Backup fire-fighters lead by 1AE standing by at A-Deck Stbd Side. First Aid party awaiting
orders. Adjacent spaces checked and hot spots detected. Boundary cooling commenced.
Fire-fighters entered the area. BA control established. Fire originated from the exhaust
screen.They commenced combatting the fire by using fire hose. Afterwards, fire reported
extinguished. Back-up fire-fighters entered the area with a BA pressure of 300 bars to check
signs of re-ignition and nothing found.Cause of fire was due to the accumulation of grease to
the exhaust screen that ignited into fire.

- Fireman’s outfit and personal rescue equipment in good condition

- Watertight doors, fire doors, fire damper and main inlet & outlet of ventilation in the
drill
area in good operationalcondition
-Necessary arrangements for subsequent abandoning of the ship
Abandonship Drill
-Scenario:
Vessel was underway at sea. Flooding was uncontrollable. Angle of list became higher and
stability was already negative. Master decided to abandon the ship. General emergency
alarm was sounded. Master announced in the PA System to abandon the ship. Distress
button sent. Mayday message was transmitted. Portable radios, EPIRB & SART were sent to
boat .Extra food, water & clothing were collected. VDR CF Card retrieved where back-up
data were stored. M/E on maneuvering mode. Power supplies for lighting maintained. All
crew mustered in respective station. Head count carried out and all are accounted. All
persons embarked to the boat. Lifeboat was launched. Engine was started and maneuvered
away from the vessel.

- All personnel mustered correctly and responsible persons reported to the bridge
- Crew were suitably dressed and lifejackets were correctly donned
- Lifejackets & immersion suits and their attachments in good working condition

- Lifeboats engines running normally
- Lifeboats steering system in good order
- Portable VHF radios in good operational condition
