The company was founded as a joint venture in 1975 between HE Easa Saleh Al Gurg
and Fosroc International. Al Gurg Fosroc is the first construction chemicals company to
establish a manufacturing base in the region, and presently serves the markets of the
U. A. E., Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and other Fosroc companies worldwide.

Section A : General Comments

High temperature working

It is suggested that, for temperatures above 350C, the following guidelines are adopted as
good working practice:

(i) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature controlled) environment, avoiding
exposure to direct sunlight.
(ii) Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if necessary. It is especially important to
keep cool those surfaces of the equipment which will come into direct contact with the material
itself.
(iii) Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading as
necessary.
(iv) Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a continuous
process.

Equipment
It is suggested that the following list of equipment is adopted as a minimum requirement.

Fosroc operates a policy to encourage the use, where possible, of approved or licensed applicators.
This ensures that repairs are completed satisfactorily so that the long term performance of the
materials is assured. For contractors who wish to apply the materials themselves Fosroc is also able
to offer technical assistance and training, either on-site or at its Training Centre in Dubai.

Section B : Application Method

1.0 Preparation

1.1 Clean all surfaces free of dust, laitance, foreign matter etc0., by stiff wire brushing. Oil and
grease should be cleaned using a chemical degreaser and wash with clean water and
allow to dry.

1.2 Remove all high spots from concrete surfaces and attain a light steeel-trowel followed by a
fine hair broom finish.

1.3 Remove moss and lichen manually and treat surface with a fungicide. Wash the surface
thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.

1.4 Metal surfaces should be cleaned free of all paint, oils, rust and other contaminants. Abrade
the surface well to expose bright finish and wipe the surface with a cloth dipped in Fosroc
Solvent 102.

2.0 Priming

2.1 Normal sound & clean surfaces need not be primed.

2.2 Porous concrete substrates will have to be primed using a 1:1 mixture of Nitoproof 600 and
Fosroc Solvent 102.

2.3 Bituminous surfaces should be primed using Nitoprime 32.

3.0 Movement Joints

3.1 Seal all expansion and movement joints with Nitoseal 220 and allow to cure.
3.2 Apply Nitoseal Debonding Tape to the top surface of Nitoseal 220.

3.2 Overcoat the joint with 1.3 mm thick application of Nitoproof 600 which should extend 150
mm on each side of the debonding tape.

3.3 Allow the overcoating to cure before commencing general application.

4.0 Cracks

4.1 Treat all shrinkage and non-moving structural cracks with a 1.3 mm coating of Nitoproof 600
extending 75 mm on either side of the crack.

4.2 Allow the coating to cure overnight prior to commencing general application.

5.0 Right angle bends

5.1 Install a cant strip or coving detail on all right angle bends.

5.2 Form the cant strip or coving in either sand & cement or Plastijoint and it must be bedded into
a layer of Nitoproof 600. Follow it by a reinforcing pretreatment by application of a 1.3 mm
thick coat of Nitoproof 600 extending 150 mm on either side of the coving. Whilst wet,
embed a 150 mm wide strip of Nitoproof Scrim into the Nitoproof 600 as the reinforcement.

5.3 Allow the pretreatment to cure overnight prior to commencing general application.

6.0 Application

6.1 Apply Nitoproof 600 using a brush, trowel, squeegee or Graco spray pump.

6.2 The application of Nitoproof 600 should achieve the minimum d.f.t. as specified in the Data
Sheet.

6.3 On vertical surfaces, the film build of 1.3 mm is achievable in two coats. Apply the second
coat at right angle to the first.

7.0 Flood Test

7.1 Ensure that the membrane is fully cured before conducting the flood test.

7.2 Flood the surface to a minimum depth of 50 mm of water for a period of 24 hours.

8.0 Curing and Protection

8.1 Nitoproof 600 should be cured for a minimum of 24 hours before placing protection.

 No objection for the proposed material subjected to compliance with authority regulations
and project specifications

 Application of the proposed waterproofing material shall be as per the manufacturer

instructions and recommendations.

 The application of proposed material shall be done by applicator approved by

manufacturer.

 Minimum two coats to be applied attaining at least 1.5mm thick and the application shall
be extended up to the walls at least 300mm.

 Material Inspection Request (MIR) to be raised and obtain Engineer approval prior to use
the material at site.

 Contractor to obtain Engineer approval on the substrate preparation along with MEP
consultant engineer approvals prior to proceed with the waterproofing works at site.

 Flood test to be conducted on the waterproofing works as per the project specifications
and obtain Engineer approval prior to proceed with works.

 Unconditional draft warranty for 10 years to be submitted.
