Gulayan sa Paaralan Program(GPP)

Accomplishment Report
School Year:2024-2025

I. Introduction
The Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) is a flagship initiative of the Department of Education aimed
at promoting food security, environmental awareness, and agricultural literacy among learners.
Through the establishment of school gardens, the program fosters values such as responsibility,
teamwork, and love for labor while supporting the school’s feeding initiatives.

II. Objectives

 To establish and maintain a sustainable vegetable garden within the school premises.

 To supplement the school-based feeding program with fresh, nutritious produce.

 To integrate gardening activities into classroom instruction, particularly in Science, TLE, and
ESP.

 To instill in learners the values of environmental stewardship, health consciousness, and

community involvement.

III. Activities and Implementation

1. Garden Planning and Preparation

A core team composed of teachers, students, and parent volunteers was formed. The garden
site was selected, cleared, and enriched with compost and organic fertilizers.

2. Planting and Maintenance

A variety of vegetables such as eggplant, okra, pechay, and tomatoes were planted. Students
participated in daily watering, weeding, and pest control using organic methods.

3. Harvesting and Utilization

The harvested vegetables were used in the school’s feeding program, ensuring that meals
served were both nutritious and cost-effective. Surplus produce was shared with the
community or sold to fund future gardening needs.

4. Integration with Curriculum

Gardening activities were incorporated into lessons, allowing students to apply academic
concepts in real-life contexts. Topics such as plant biology, nutrition, and environmental care
were emphasized.
5.

IV. Outcomes and Impact

 Improved student participation and awareness in sustainable practices.

 Enhanced nutritional value of meals served in the feeding program.

 Strengthened school-community partnerships through shared responsibility and support.

 Development of leadership and teamwork skills among learners.

V. Conclusion
The GPP has proven to be a transformative initiative that not only addresses nutritional needs but
also cultivates a culture of sustainability and responsibility among students. With continued support,
the program will remain a vital part of our school’s holistic development efforts.
