Rules and Regulations of Football

Football is played between two teams of 11 players each, including a goalkeeper. The main
objective is to score more goals than the opposing team within 90 minutes (two halves of 45
minutes).

Some of the most important rules:

 Only the goalkeeper can touch the ball with hands inside the penalty area.
 The ball is out of play if it completely crosses the goal line or the touchline.
 Fouls are punished with free kicks or penalty kicks.
 Yellow card = warning; Red card = sent off.
 The offside rule prevents players from gaining an unfair advantage.

Fair play and discipline are ensured by referees, linesmen, and VAR (Video Assistant
Referee) in professional games.

Cups, Trophies, and Tournaments

Football is famous for its thrilling tournaments and iconic trophies. The FIFA World Cup
is the biggest and most prestigious tournament, held every 4 years and featuring teams from
around the world. The golden World Cup Trophy is awarded to the champions.

The UEFA Champions League is Europe’s top club competition, where elite clubs
compete every year for the Champions League Trophy. Other major international
tournaments include the Copa America (South America), Euro Cup (Europe), and AFC
Asian Cup (Asia).

Domestic leagues also have their own famous trophies:

 English Premier League Trophy (England)


 La Liga Trophy (Spain)
 Serie A Trophy (Italy)
 Bundesliga Trophy (Germany)

In India, the Indian Super League (ISL) is growing in popularity, with teams competing for
the ISL Trophy.

Well-known awards:

 Ballon d'Or: Given to the best footballer of the year.


 Golden Boot: Awarded to the top goal scorer in tournaments.

Winning these cups and trophies brings pride and honor to both players and nations.

Football has produced many legendary players who have inspired millions.

Pelé of Brazil is known as the King of Football and won 3 FIFA World Cups.
Argentina’s Diego Maradona is remembered for his incredible dribbling and the famous
"Hand of God" goal. Another Argentinian great, Lionel Messi, is celebrated for his magical
skills and multiple Ballon d'Or wins. Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal is known
worldwide for his outstanding fitness and goal-scoring records. India’s pride, Sunil Chhetri,
is the highest goal scorer for India in international football and has brought huge attention
to Indian football.

These footballers are admired for their talent, passion, and hard work for here country.
