FAULT CODE 272 , SPN 1347 , FMI 3

Fuel pump actuator shorted high or open circuit

fuel pump actuator is grounded to ecm , he ECM varies the current to this valve to provide the
correct fuel flow to the high-pressure pump based on engine operating conditions.

The fuel pump pressurizing assembly 1 [ACTUATOR] valve is a normally open valve

The PWM duty cycle to the fuel pump pressurizing assembly 1 depends on the difference between
desired rail pressure and sensed rail pressure

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS

1. ACTUATOR RESISTANCE CHECK BETWEEN SIGNAL AND RETURN PINS [ NOT


CONNECTED TO HARNESS]

less than 5 ohms [actuator ok]

2. CHECK SIGNAL VOLTAGE IN HARNESS WHILE KEY SWITCH ON

Must be greater than 3 vdc

3. RESISTANCE BETWEEN THE HARNESS ACTUATOR RETURN PIN AND GROUND.

Must be less than 10 ohms

4. RESISTANCE BETWEEN THE FUEL PUMP ACTUATOR SIGNAL PIN IN HARNESS


[ ECM CONNECTOR] AND ALL OTHER PINS IN THE CONNECTOR

must be greater than 100k ohms
