Re-Energise
Option 1 - Dance routine
● Teach the actions ‘clap’, ‘stomp’, ‘pat’, ‘snap’ and ‘rest’ using the actions at the
beginning of the video: Body Percussion: can’t stop this feeling
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92gf8dAlhUw
● Play Simon Says. Give directions like ‘stomp!’, ‘clap!’, but say ‘Simon Says’ first, for
example ‘Simon Says clap!’. If the Ss hear ‘Simon Says’, they should do the action. If
they don’t hear it, they shouldn’t do it.
● Play the video for Ss to follow along.
Option 2 - Body percussion
● Introduce ‘Body Percussion’ and show how Ss can stomp, clap or tap their legs in order
to make different sounds with their bodies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW2DY1OpgrI from 0:27 and Ss can practice.
● Play some background music that you like and let Ss practice what they have learnt.
● Put them into groups of 2 or 3 and let Ss come up with their own
body percussion routines.
Option 3 - Workout routine
● Ask Ss what we need to be healthy and elicit that we need to move our
bodies in order to be healthy.
● Brainstorm (verbally) some superheroes and then ask Ss if they have a favourite one.
● Say they will do a short workout and they should do the workout as if
they are their favourite superhero.
● Play: 8 Minute Kids Workout With Spiderman | The Body Coach TV
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X1p0Yd6WAo
Option 4 - Zumba
● Ask Ss to find a space and play Zumba Kids
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiRpnDeAOlI.
● After dancing, play this song: ZUMBA MUSIC I FOR ZUMBA DANCE [ WORKOUT MIX]
● https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6ufUVz3LJ in the background, put
Ss in pairs and they can have a go at making a routine themselves.
Option 5 - Races
● Wheelbarrow: Put Ss in pairs and one is on all fours and the other
needs to hold their feet. They should race across the room against the
other Ss. (see image below). Give them a few minutes to practice if
necessary.
● Crab: Ss should walk (race) on their hands and feet but with their
stomachs facing up (see image below).
● Hopping: Ss can only hop across the room on one leg as a race.
Option 6 – 123 Stop
● 1 student will stand on one side of the room, and the rest of the students at the other
side.
● The student alone will face the other students and turn around while saying ‘123 stop!’
● The students on the other side must try to reach the student turning around and stop
again when they have turned around to face them again.
● If a student is caught moving, then they are sent to the wall to start again.
● If no students are moving, the ‘123 stop’ process repeats until the student turning around
has been caught.
● Repeat again with a few more students.
Option 7 – Stuck in the Mud
● Nominate one student to be ‘it.’
● Students will run around the room, trying not to be caught by ‘it.’
● If a student is caught, they are ‘stuck in the mud’ and cannot move.
● Students who are ‘stuck in the mud’ can be saved by another student crawling between their
legs, if the student makes it through their legs successfully then the stuck student is no
longer stuck and can play again.
● Continue until all students are stuck or switch out the person who is ‘it.’
Option 8 – Fruit Salad
● Arrange students so they are sat in a circle.
● 1 student stands in the middle of the circle and gives a category, e.g., everyone wearing a
t-shirt, everyone with long hair, everyone who ate bread for breakfast.
● The students who agree with the statement in the circle, stand up and try to find a different
position to sit in the circle.
● The student in the middle also tries to sit in the circle, so another student will be left in the
middle and the process repeats.
● For lower levels – assign them a word, so 3 students are apples, 3 are bananas, and 3 are
oranges. The student in the middle will say ‘apple, and all the apples will stand up to find a
different place.
Option 9 – Split Splat
● Watch the video from 29 seconds for a clear demonstration.
● Students will make a circle with the TA in the middle.
● TA will point at a student and say ‘split.’ That student will crouch.
● The students either side of the crouching student will point towards each other and say
‘splat.’
● If the middle student doesn’t crouch, or the 2 students either side ‘splat’ too slowly, then
they come to the middle and repeat the process.
Option 10 – Aeroplanes
● Bring something to blindfold 1 student for this game.
● 1 student will be the aeroplane, 1 student the navigator and the remaining students the
trees.
● The aeroplane is blindfolded and starts from a side of the room. The navigator is with them.
● The trees arrange themselves around the room.
● The navigator must help the blindfolded airplane to move to the other side of the room
without touching the trees by giving directions.
● Once they reach the other side, repeat with some more students in different roles.
● For lower levels, the navigator can put their hands on the shoulders of the aeroplane and
guide them non-verbally.
