1: THE POWER WITHIN

UNDERSTANDING ENERGY
& ITS IMPACT
Have you ever walked into a room and felt an
immediate sense of calm and peace? Or perhaps the
opposite, a space that drains your energy and leaves you
feeling on edge?

These subtle shifts in our well-being are often a

reflection of the unseen force that surrounds us: energy.

Energy is a fundamental element of our universe,

present in everything from the tiniest atom to the vast
expanse of galaxies.

But what does this concept mean in the context of our

daily lives? In essence, it refers to the unseen force that
animates and influences us. Just as a car needs fuel to
run, we too require energy to function.

This energy manifests in various forms, impacting our

physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
5
1: THE POWER WITHIN

The Three Layers of Energy

Our energy can be categorised into three distinct layers:

Physical Energy: This is the most readily

recognisable form. It fuels our bodies, allowing us to
move, work, and perform daily activities. We obtain
physical energy primarily through food and sleep.

Emotional Energy: This layer reflects our moods

and feelings. Positive emotions like joy and
excitement create a vibrant and uplifting energy,
while negative emotions like anger or sadness can
leave us feeling drained and depleted.

Spiritual Energy: This is the most subtle layer,

connected to our sense of purpose, connection to
something larger than ourselves, and overall well-
being. It can manifest as a feeling of inner peace, a
sense of belonging, or a deep connection to the
natural world.

6
The Flow of Energy

Imagine energy as a flowing river. Ideally, it should

move freely and smoothly throughout our being.

However, just as a river can become stagnant or

polluted, our energy can become blocked or depleted by
various factors.

Stagnant Energy: When our energy flow gets stuck, it

can manifest in a variety of ways. We might feel
sluggish, unmotivated, or experience negative emotions
more frequently. Stagnant energy can also contribute to
physical ailments and a weakened immune system.

Negative Energy: Just like positive emotions create

positive energy, negativity can have a draining effect.
This can stem from external sources like stressful
environments or toxic relationships, or from within,
through unresolved emotional baggage or negative self-
talk.

7
1: THE POWER WITHIN

The Importance of Energy

Cleansing
Energy cleansing is the practice of removing blockages
and negativity, allowing our energy to flow freely once
again.

By taking steps to cleanse our energy, we can experience

a range of benefits:

Improved Mood and Well-being: When our energy

flows freely, we naturally feel more positive,
optimistic, and resilient.

Increased Vitality: With stagnant energy cleared, we

have access to more physical and emotional energy
to tackle daily challenges.

Clearer Thinking: A balanced energy field allows for

improved focus, concentration, and decision-making.

Just as we regularly clean our homes and bodies for

physical hygiene, energy cleansing helps us maintain a
sense of well-being on a deeper level.

In the following chapters, we will explore various

techniques for cleansing your physical space, personal
energy field, and cultivating a life filled with positive
energy flow.

8
2: WHY CLEANSE?

RECOGNISING THE SIGNS YOU

NEED A REFRESH
2: WHY CLEANSE?

Imagine your energy as a vibrant stream, flowing freely

through your body and environment.

Now picture that stream becoming sluggish, clogged

with debris, or even polluted.

This stagnant or negative energy can have a profound

impact on our well-being, both physically and
emotionally.

Signs You Need an Energy Cleanse

Just as a cluttered room can make it difficult to relax,

stagnant energy can leave you feeling drained and out of
sorts.

Here are some common signs that your energy field

might need a refresh:

Low Mood and Fatigue: Feeling persistently tired,

unmotivated, or lacking enthusiasm can be a sign of
stagnant energy.

Negativity Bias: Do you find yourself dwelling on

negative thoughts and emotions? This negativity can
create a downward spiral in your energy field.

Recurring Arguments: Constant conflict in your

personal or professional life can drain your energy
and create negativity.

Physical Ailments: While not a direct cause, some

believe stagnant energy can contribute to
unexplained aches, pains, or a weakened immune
system.

10
External Factors that Contribute to
Energy Imbalances

Our environment plays a significant role in our energy

flow. Here are some external factors that can contribute
to negative energy:

Stressful Environments: Constant deadlines, traffic

jams, or a toxic work environment can all drain your
energy.

Cluttered Spaces: Physical clutter can create a feeling

of mental and emotional clutter, hindering energy
flow.

Toxic Relationships: People who drain your energy

or create negativity in your life can have a significant
impact on your energy field.

11
2: WHY CLEANSE?

The Benefits of Energy Cleansing

By taking steps to cleanse your energy, you can

experience a range of positive effects:

Improved Mood and Well-being: When your energy

flows freely, you naturally feel more positive,
optimistic, and resilient.

Increased Vitality: With stagnant energy cleared, you

have access to more physical and emotional energy
to tackle daily challenges.

Clearer Thinking: A balanced energy field allows for

improved focus, concentration, and decision-making.

Stronger Relationships: By clearing negativity, you

can create a more positive and harmonious space for
relationships to thrive.

Think of energy cleansing as a form of preventative

maintenance for your well-being.

Just as we regularly clean our homes for physical

hygiene, it's equally important to cleanse our energy
field for optimal mental and emotional health.

The next chapter will delve into practical techniques for

clearing stagnant energy from your living spaces.

12
3: CLEANSING YOUR
SANCTUARY

TECHNIQUES FOR SPACE

CLEARING
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Our homes are sanctuaries, places where we should feel

safe, relaxed, and recharged.

However, stagnant energy can accumulate in our living

spaces over time, impacting our mood and well-being.

Here are some techniques to cleanse your space and

create a haven of positive energy.

The First Step - Decluttering and

Organisation
Physical clutter can create a feeling of mental and
emotional clutter, hindering energy flow.

Regularly declutter your space and organise your

belongings to create a sense of order and peace.

Follow this with a cleansing ritual for a powerful

transformation of the space’s energy and notice how it
affects your energy for the better.

Once you have created a cleansed and blessed sanctuary,

you have a place where you can rest, relax and recharge.

14
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Cleansing Rituals
Ever walk into a room and feel a strange heaviness?
Smudging, an ancient cleansing ritual, can help!

By burning herbs or using other clearing techniques, we

can clear stagnant energy, creating a fresh and uplifting
space.

We will explore various smudging methods and

alternative cleansing techniques, helping you choose the
perfect approach for your needs.

The Power of Smudging

Traditional smudging involves burning herbs like sage,
palo santo, or cedar to cleanse a space.

The smoke is believed to carry away emotional and

spiritual negativity, physically eliminate unhealthy
viruses and bacteria and leave behind a purified and
blessed environment.

15
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Cedar
(Thuja spp.)
-
The Tree of Strength,
Protection and Purification

16
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Cedar trees, belonging to the genus Thuja, have held a

place of reverence in cultures worldwide for millennia.
Standing tall and strong, cedars symbolise longevity,
stability, and spiritual connection.

Their fragrant wood and leaves have been used for

centuries in construction, medicine, and most
importantly for us today, in smudging rituals (burning
herbs or resins to cleanse a space or person).

Cedar smoke is believed to offer powerful cleansing

properties, protection from negativity, and a sense of
grounding and peace.

17
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Botanical Characteristics

Species: Several species of Thuja trees are used for

their spiritual and practical purposes. Western Red
Cedar (Thuja plicata) and Eastern White Cedar
(Thuja occidentalis) are two of the most common.

Appearance: Cedar trees are evergreen conifers with

aromatic foliage and reddish-brown bark that peels
in long strips. The leaves are scale-like and produce a
distinctive, woody fragrance.

Chemical Composition: The aromatic and

potentially therapeutic properties of cedar are
attributed to the presence of thujone, cedrol, and
other volatile oils.

Spiritual Significance

Cedar has been revered by various cultures for its

symbolic meaning and spiritual connection:

Native American Cultures: Cedar is considered

sacred in many indigenous traditions. It's used in
sweat lodge ceremonies for purification, in rituals to
connect with the spirit world, and to create
protective charms.

Celtic Cultures: Celts associated cedar with strength,

immortality, and wisdom. Cedar branches were used
to bless homes and ward off evil spirits.

Other
her Cultures: Cedar has been used for spiritual
purposes in various cultures around the world,
symbolizing purification, protection, and connection
to the natural world.

18
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Smudging with Cedar

Cedar smoke offers a powerful and grounding

experience, making it ideal for cleansing a space,
creating a sense of protection, or promoting feelings of
peace and security.

There are two primary ways to use cedar for smudging:

Burning Cedar Bundles: Dried cedar leaves or

needles are bundled together and lit like a smudge
stick. Gently waft the smoke throughout the space or
around the person being cleansed.

Cedarwood Incense: Cedarwood incense cones or

sticks can be used as an alternative to burning loose
leaves. Light the incense and allow the smoke to fill
the space.

19
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Considerations

Sustainable Sourcing: Cedar trees are a valuable

resource. Choose vendors who can demonstrate
sustainable harvesting practices.

Alternatives: If smoke inhalation is a concern,

consider alternative cleansing methods like diffusing
cedarwood essential oil or using sound vibrations.

Cedar Allergies: Some people may be sensitive to

cedar smoke. Test in a well-ventilated area before
using it for smudging.

Conclusion

Cedar, with its grounding aroma and rich symbolism,

offers a powerful tool for cleansing, protection, and
creating a sense of peace.

Incorporating cedar into your smudging rituals can help

you clear negative energies, establish a sense of security,
and connect with the strength and stability found in
nature.

Historical and Spiritual Significance

Copal played a central role in Mesoamerican rituals and

offerings. The Aztecs called it "copalli," meaning
"incense," and used it in ceremonies to honour deities,
cleanse temples, and connect with the spiritual realm.
Copal was associated with the sun due to its golden
colour and believed to possess properties of:

Purification: Burning copal was seen as a way to

cleanse negative energies and create a sacred space
for rituals.

3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Mugwort, also known as wormwood or felonwort, is a

perennial herb native to temperate regions of Europe,
Asia, and North America.

Used for centuries in traditional medicine and folklore,

mugwort has gained renewed interest for its potential to
enhance dreams and promote lucid dreaming (being
aware you're dreaming while still asleep).

In the realm of smudging (burning herbs to cleanse a

space or person), mugwort smoke offers a gentle yet
potent tool for:

Dream Enhancement: Promoting vivid and lucid

dreams.

Intuition: Heightening awareness and intuition.

Psychic Exploration: Facilitating connection to the

subconscious mind and spiritual realms.

Protection: Some cultures believe mugwort offers

mild protection against negativity.

42
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Botanical Characteristics

Appearance: Mugwort grows as a bushy herb with

silvery-green leaves and clusters of small, yellow
flowers that bloom in the late summer. The leaves
have a strong, pungent aroma that can be described
as bitter or camphor-like.

Chemical Composition: The dream-enhancing and

potentially therapeutic properties of mugwort are
attributed to the presence of thujone, a volatile oil
found in its leaves. However, thujone can be toxic in
high doses, so responsible use is crucial.

Safety: Due to the presence of thujone, mugwort is

not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding
women, people with epilepsy or other neurological
conditions, or those taking certain medications.
Always consult with a healthcare professional before
using mugwort internally.

Spiritual Significance

Mugwort has been used in various cultures for its

potential to enhance psychic abilities and promote
dream exploration:

Ancient Greece and Rome: Mugwort was associated

with Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and
the wilderness. It was used in rituals for dream
divination and prophecy.

European Folklore: Mugwort was believed to offer

protection against evil spirits and nightmares. It was
also used in dream pillows to promote vivid dreams.

43
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Modern Uses: Mugwort continues to be explored for

its potential to enhance dream recall and lucidity,
and for promoting intuition and connection to the
subconscious mind.

Using Mugwort

Unlike most herbs used for smudging, mugwort isn't

typically burned on its own due to its strong aroma.

Here are some ways to incorporate mugwort into your

practices:

Dream Pillow: Place a small pouch filled with dried

mugwort under your pillow to promote vivid and
lucid dreams.

Incense: Use mugwort incense blends specifically

formulated for dream enhancement.

Tea: Mugwort tea (consult a healthcare professional

for safe dosage) may be used for relaxation and
potentially promoting vivid dreams.

44
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Considerations

Sustainable Sourcing: Mugwort is a common herb,

but choose vendors who demonstrate responsible
harvesting practices.

Safety: Be mindful of the potential side effects of

thujone, especially if you have any pre-existing
health conditions. Avoid burning mugwort directly
and consult a healthcare professional before internal
use.

Alternatives: For smudging purposes, consider

alternative herbs like lavender for relaxation or white
sage for cleansing.

Conclusion

Mugwort, with its unique aroma and intriguing history,

offers a tool for dream exploration, heightened
intuition, and connecting with the subconscious mind.

While not typically used for traditional smudging,

mugwort can be incorporated into your dream practices
or used in incense blends to unlock the power of your
dreams.

However, always prioritise safety and consult a

healthcare professional before internal use.

47
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Botanical Characteristics

Appearance: Palo santo trees can grow up to 40 feet

tall. The harvested wood is typically sold in sticks or
small logs, with a golden-yellow hue and a smooth,
slightly oily texture.

Aroma: Palo santo has a warm, sweet, and slightly

smoky aroma with notes of pine, mint, lemon, and
incense. This pleasant fragrance is attributed to the
presence of terpenes and limonoids, volatile organic
compounds found in its resin.

Sustainability: Palo Santo trees are not cut down to

harvest the wood. Branches that fall naturally are
collected, ensuring the long-term health of the Palo
Santo forests.

Spiritual Significance

In indigenous traditions, palo santo is considered sacred

and is often used by shamans for healing ceremonies
and spiritual purification.

The smoke from burning palo santo is believed to:

Cleanse a space of negative energies and promote

feelings of peace and tranquillity.

Uplift the mood and attract positive energy.

Invite creativity and inspiration.

Ease stress and anxiety.

48
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Smudging with Palo Santo

Palo santo offers a gentler cleansing experience

compared to white sage, making it a good alternative for
those with smoke sensitivities.

Here's a basic guide to smudging with palo santo:

1 Light the Palo Santo: Light the end of a palo santo

stick with a match or lighter. Let it burn for a
moment, then gently blow out the flame, allowing
it to smoulder and produce smoke.

Set Your Intention: Clearly define your purpose

2 for smudging (e.g., purification, attracting positive
energy, manifesting desires).

Smudge the Space: Gently waft the smoke from

3 the frankincense resin throughout the space,
focusing on corners and areas where stagnant
energy might accumulate.

Smudge Yourself or Others (Optional): With

4 permission, use the smoke to cleanse a person's
energy field by moving your hand with the smoke
around their body.

Extinguish and Ground: After smudging,

5 extinguish the palo santo stick by gently pressing
the glowing ember onto a fireproof surface. The
ember will naturally go out when no longer
disturbed.

49
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Considerations

Sustainable Sourcing: Look for vendors who can

demonstrate ethical sourcing practices, ensuring the
palo santo is harvested from fallen branches and not
live trees.

Alternatives: If smoke inhalation is a concern,

consider alternative cleansing methods like
smudging with herbs like white sage (use with
caution due to potential over-harvesting) or using
sound vibrations.

Conclusion

Palo santo's gentle cleansing properties and beautiful

aroma make it a versatile tool for creating a positive and
uplifting atmosphere.

By incorporating palo santo into your smudging rituals,

you can harness the wisdom of this sacred wood to
promote peace, well-being, and a renewed sense of
calm.

50
Rose
(Rosa spp.)
-
The Fragrant Ally for Love,
Self-Care and Emotional Healing

51
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Roses, with their captivating beauty and intoxicating

fragrance, have held a symbolic place in human cultures
for millennia.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, roses offer a unique and

versatile tool in the realm of smudging (burning herbs
or resins to cleanse a space or person).

While not traditionally used for its cleansing properties

like sage or cedar, rose smoke offers a powerful energy
for:

Love: Attracting love, promoting self-love, and

fostering harmonious relationships.

Emotional Healing: Easing emotional pain, releasing

negativity, and promoting feelings of peace and joy.

Self-Care: Creating a space for relaxation, self-

compassion, and rejuvenation.

Spiritual Connection: Facilitating connection to the

divine feminine and the beauty of the natural world.

52
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Using Rose in Rituals

Unlike some herbs used for smudging, rose isn't

typically burned on its own due to its high moisture
content and tendency to smoulder rather than burn
cleanly.

Here are alternative ways to incorporate rose into your

rituals:

Rose Petals: Scatter dried rose petals around your

space or incorporate them into potpourri blends to
create a loving and uplifting atmosphere.

Rose Water: Spritz rose water (a gentle distillate of

rose petals and water) around your space or use it in
a diffuser to experience the calming aroma of the
rose.

Rose Incense: Use commercially available rose

incense cones or sticks formulated for safe burning.
These blends often combine rose with other herbs or
resins for a more complex aroma.

Rose Essential Oil: Diffuse a few drops of high-

quality rose essential oil to create a mood-enhancing
and emotionally supportive atmosphere.

53
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Symbolic Meanings

The colour of the rose you choose can add another

layer of intention to your ritual:

Red Rose: Represents passionate love, deep affection,

and inner strength.

Pink Rose: Symbolises self-love, gentleness, and

compassion.

White Rose: Represents purity, new beginnings, and

peace.

Considerations:

Sustainable Sourcing: Choose organic rose petals or

essential oils to minimise environmental impact.

Alternatives: If rose is not readily available, explore

other emotionally supportive herbs like lavender or
chamomile.

Safety: Use caution with rose essential oil, as it can be

irritating to the skin. Always dilute it properly before
use.

Conclusion:

Roses, with their symbolic depth and captivating aroma,

offer a unique tool for emotional healing, self-care, and
fostering loving energy.

While not used in traditional smudging practices,

incorporating rose into your rituals allows you to
connect with the beauty of nature, cultivate self-
compassion, and create a space infused with the essence
of love.

sage or cedar, or using alternative methods like
sound vibrations.

Conclusion

Sweetgrass, with its sweet aroma and rich spiritual

significance, offers a powerful tool for creating a sense
of peace, harmony and attracting positive energy.

By incorporating sweetgrass into your smudging rituals,

you can connect with the wisdom of indigenous
traditions and cultivate a space infused with healing and
blessings.

Integrating Feather Medicine

Feathers, particularly those from birds traditionally
associated with wisdom and flight, have long been used
as tools for amplifying and directing energy during
cleansing rituals.

In many cultures, the feather acts as an extension of the

breath, gently sweeping away stagnant or negative
energy.

The hollow core of the feather is believed to act as a

conduit, channelling cleansing energy from the source
(smoke, sound vibrations, etc.) and directing it
throughout the space or person being cleansed.

By using a feather with intention, we can not only

cleanse but also infuse the space with positive energy,
creating a sense of renewal and upliftment. This makes
feathers a versatile tool for enhancing the effectiveness
of any smudging or cleansing practice.

When choosing a feather, ensure you are working with

an ethical source or consider foraging for one in your
area. If you are lucky enough to have an outdoor space
with wild birds visiting, they may leave you a feather to
work with. All bird feathers are OK to work with for
cleansing rituals if they are dropped naturally, and not
sourced from a bird that was killed, as these unnatural
deaths will create feathers that hold fear in their
vibration.

70
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

3 popular feathers to work with are:

Buzzard Feathers
Associated with keen eyesight and transformation,
buzzard feathers are said to aid in introspection, helping
us see hidden truths and promoting personal growth.
They can also symbolise death and rebirth, making
them suitable for rituals of letting go and embracing
new beginnings.

Crow Feathers
Intelligent and adaptable, crows hold a complex
symbolism. Their feathers can represent wisdom, magic,
and prophecy. In some cultures, they connect with the
spirit world, making them ideal for ancestral
communication or shadow work (exploring hidden
aspects of ourselves).

Eagle Feathers
Universally recognised for strength, power, and
leadership, eagle feathers are considered sacred in many
cultures. They symbolise connection with the divine,
heightened awareness, and manifesting clear intentions.
Use them with respect and reverence and always from
an ethical source.

Remember, these are just a few examples. Many other

bird feathers can be used for smudging, each carrying its
own unique meaning.

Choose a feather that resonates with your intentions for

a more personal and meaningful smudging experience.
It's always best to ethically source feathers that are
naturally moulted or obtained with permission.

Beyond Smoke: Cleansing

Techniques

Mists
Create a gentle mist using herbal infusions, aromatic
waters, or crystal-infused water. This is ideal for small
spaces or those sensitive to smoke.

My favourite mist is a Rose Aromatic water. I use this

during all my summer ceremonies to help soothe and
relax participants on a hot day.

Essential Oils
Choose oils based on your intention. Diffuse essential
oils like peppermint for clarity, orange for luck and
relaxation, or frankincense to cleanse and uplift the
space.

Sound Vibrations
Sound vibrations have a powerful effect on our energy.

Ringing bells, rattles, drums, singing bowls, gongs or

even using the power of your voice or playing uplifting
music can all help to clear negativity and promote a
sense of calm.

Use one or more of these tools to move, and cleanse the

energy and bless the space.

Energy Work
Techniques like Reiki or Seichem can be used to cleanse
and bless a space using your energy and intention.

72
Smudging Protocol

1 Set Your Intention: Clearly define your purpose

for cleansing the space (e.g., purification, blessing).

Smudging Technique for an indoor space: Start

2 in the centre of the space, using your chosen
smudge tool, infuse the atmosphere as you move
counter-clockwise in a spiral, ensuring smoke or
vibrations reach all corners (corners often hold
more stagnant energy).

If you are using a herbal smoke and a feather or a

feather wand or wing, use the feathers to waft the
smoke into each area to fully infuse it, then use
the feather to brush the smoke away again. Ideally,
end at a door or window, releasing any heavy
energy outside.

Grounding: After smudging, if you are using a

3 feather, you can touch your feather (or cleansing
tool such a a rattle) to the earth to release any
negativity collected during the process.

By gifting this energy to Mama Earth, as she is

able to compost the energy and transform it into
something positive and nourishing, in the same
way she composts our food waste into soil.

73
3: CLEANSING YOUR SANCTUARY

Additional Tips
Open windows and doors: Allow fresh air and
sunlight to circulate, to physically assist the removal
of stagnant energy.

Bring in nature: Healthy plants can help purify the

air and create a sense of connection to the natural
world, fostering positive energy.

Set positive intentions: Visualise your space filled

with positive energy as you cleanse it.

By incorporating these techniques into your cleansing

ritual, you can create a more harmonious and uplifting
environment, fostering well-being for yourself and
anyone who shares your space.

The next chapter will explore techniques for cleansing

your personal energy field.

74
4: CLEANSING YOUR
VESSEL

TECHNIQUES FOR PERSONAL

ENERGY CLEARING
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

Just as we cleanse our homes, we can also cleanse our

personal energy field to remove negativity and
blockages.

Here are some practices to cultivate and clear your

energy:

The Poq’po Cleanse - A Shamanic

Technique for Energy Renewal

In the quest for a balanced and vibrant energy field,

various techniques can be powerful tools. Here I
introduce the Poq’po Cleanse, a practice rooted in the
wisdom of the Q’ero shamans, who live in the high
Andean Mountains of Peru.

This technique cleanses your energy field in three

layers, promoting a sense of renewal and well-being.

The Poq’po: The Q’ero shamans use the term "Poq’po"

to describe the energetic field surrounding your body.

This energetic bubble acts as a protective layer, filtering

incoming energies and safeguarding your inner world.

The Poq’po Cleanse addresses three distinct layers

within this field:

The Outer Layer: This layer represents the protective

bubble surrounding your Poq’po. It can accumulate
unwanted energies you may have picked up throughout
the day.

76
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

The Middle Layer: This layer resides between the outer

edge of your Poq’po and your physical body. It holds
your emotions and can become congested with
negativity.

The Inner Layer: This layer corresponds to your

physical body. The cleanse purifies any stagnant energy
that may be impacting your physical well-being.

The Cleansing Ritual

The Poq’po Cleanse is a simple yet powerful practice

that can be performed daily or whenever you feel the
need for energetic renewal.

Here's a step-by-step guide:

1 Begin in a comfortable position: Stand or sit with

your back straight and take a few deep breaths to
centre yourself. Bring your hands together in a
prayer position at your heart centre, with your
palms slightly cupped.

2 Fill with Love and Light: Imagine your heart as a

portal radiating love and light. Fill your cupped
hands with this vibrant energy until they overflow.

Piercing the Poq’po: Raise your hands above your

3 head, visualising them breaking through the top of
your Poq’po, like piercing a bubble without
popping it. Extend your arms outward, forming a
goblet ready to receive.

Receiving from the Universe: Imagine the

4 universe showering you with love and light, filling
your outstretched hands overflowing with this
cleansing energy.
77
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

5 Cleansing the Outer Layer: Bring your hands

down, washing the outside of your Poq’po bubble
with the love and light you received. Visualise any
unwanted energies detaching and being released
to Mama Earth.

Mama Earth is a powerful sorceress and can

transform a piece of carbon into a diamond!
Imagine Mama Earth transforming this unwanted
energy into something beautiful and nourishing.

Cleansing the Emotional Layer: Repeat steps 2-5,

6 filling your hands with love and light. Then, wash
the middle layer of your Poq’po, focusing on
releasing any stagnant emotions that are ready for
transformation. Thank Mama Earth for receiving
and transforming these unwanted energies.

Cleansing the Physical Layer: Repeat the steps 2-5

7 once more, filling your hands with love and light.
Washing your physical body with this cleansing
energy, releasing any aches, pains, or negative
stories held in your body that may be holding you
back from a joyful and harmonious life. Thank
Mama Earth for receiving and transforming these
unwanted energies.

Sealing Your Poq’po: Visualise your Poq’po

8 completely sealed. You can imagine a sparkling
gold or silver exterior, or another colour that you
prefer to strengthen your energy field

78
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

Beyond the Cleanse

The Poq’po Cleanse is a foundational practice, but it can

be further personalised:

Energy Shell Variations: Imagine your Poq’po

transforming into different energy shells depending on
the situation.

For example, visualise a fiery shell to burn away

negativity or a mirrored shell to deflect unwanted
projections.

Playing with the Mirror: The mirrored shell can be a

powerful tool for energetic protection.

Imagine reflecting negativity back to its source,

promoting clarity and self-awareness in the person or
people who are the source of the projection.

By incorporating the Poq’po Cleanse into your routine,

you can maintain a clear and vibrant energy field,
fostering emotional well-being and resilience.

Remember, you are a radiant being capable of

cultivating a strong and protective energy field.
Embrace this practice and explore its variations to find
what resonates most with you.

79
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

Smudging the Body: A Step-by-Step

Guide

You can use the techniques described below to cleanse

yourself or another person, integrating the herbs, mists,
sound healing and feather medicine we discussed earlier
in Chapter 3.

Remember: Smudging is a sacred practice. Approach it

with respect, clear intention, and a focus on creating a
safe and positive experience for the person you are
smudging.

1 Light your smudge: use a candle or a good lighter,

as it can take time for the smudge to burn well and
create a good continuous plume of smoke. Blow
the embers until they glow and you can see the
smoke clearly flowing.

2 Set your intentions to be fully present: smudging

will help the person release any energy they do
not need to hold in their aura and body. Invite
them to become present in the moment, to let the
stories of the day go, and be here in the now.

Start at the Top: Hold the glowing smudge stick in

3
one hand about 30cm away from the body, hold
your feather in the other hand. Now beginning at
the top of the head, use the feather to waft the
smoke from the smudge stick to infuse the
person’s aura.

As you work, stay focused and mindful, and be

open to any intuitive insights about their well-
being.

80
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

4 Downward Flow: While keeping your intention

clear (purification and blessing), slowly move the
smudge and feather down past the face, cleansing
the third eye, eyes, ears, mouth, and throat
chakra.

Continue across the shoulders and down the arms,

asking them to extend their arms, like they are
stretching their wings, for a thorough cleansing of
the hands and fingers.

Chakras & Core: Waft the smudge past the heart

5 chakra, solar plexus, sacral chakra, and root
chakra. Then, move down the legs, cleansing each
foot thoroughly as they lift them up, perhaps have
them turn to face a wall, resting a hand on the wall
for support.

Back & Upward Flow: Now work your way up the

6 back of the body, from the feet to the crown
chakra, completing the cleansing cycle.

Feather Cleansing (Optional): If using a feather,

8 use swift but gentle motions to sweep away any
stagnant energy from the front and back of the
body, visualising it moving into the earth. Always
touch the feather to the ground afterwards to
release this energy.

81
4: CLEANSING YOUR VESSEL

Additional Tips

Grounding the Experience: For sound methods like

drumming or rattling, move around the person in a
similar way, infusing the aura with sound instead of
smoke and touch the instrument to the earth.

Feeling the Shift: As you smudge, especially if you are

using a feather, you might sense resistance in their
energy field, prompting you to focus on those areas for
a bit longer. Trust your intuition and be open to
receiving information about their physical or emotional
state. Common insights include feeling weakness in the
knees, pain in the heart, a busy mind, or a blocked
throat chakra.

Be Gentle & Respectful: Remember, less is often more!

Too much smoke or intense brushing with a feather can
be harsh. Always prioritise the participant's comfort and
well-being.

Alternatives for Allergies: If smoke or other herbal

forms of smudge trigger allergies, consider sound
vibrations or energy work as alternative cleansing
methods.

Create a Safe Space: By setting a clear intention and

using these techniques gently, you can create a beautiful
and cleansing experience for your participant.

For your safety: Always keep a fire proof container to

hand to put your lit smudge stick into. My favourite way
to put out a sage smudge stick is in a bowl of rice. It
smothers the fire and stops the smudge stick from
burning but with no additional smell.

5: DAILY PRACTICES FOR
RAISING YOUR VIBRATION
5: DAILY PRACTICES FOR RAISING YOUR VIBRATION

Energy cleansing isn't a one-time event; it's an ongoing

practice for maintaining a balanced and harmonious
energy field.

Here are some simple rituals you can incorporate into

your daily routine:

Setting Intentions
Start your day by setting positive intentions for yourself
and your interactions. Focus on what you want to
achieve or cultivate, setting the tone for a positive
energy flow.

You might ground this intention by writing it down and

noticing the effect this positive intention has on your
mind and body, and reflecting on the intention
throughout the day to stay focused.

Gratitude Practices
Gratitude is a powerful tool for cultivating a positive
energy body. By acknowledging the good things in your
life, you shift your focus to abundance and attract more
of what you desire.

Taking a few moments each day to reflect with gratitude

can significantly impact your well-being and overall
energy vibration. I highly recommend that you start and
end your day with gratitude.

I offer you a simple gratitude practice that you can do

every morning, taught to me by my first shamanic
teacher. And also a gratitude journalling practice, that
you may wish to do at the end of your day.

84
5: DAILY PRACTICES FOR RAISING YOUR VIBRATION

Morning Gratitude Ritual

As soon as you awaken, take a little gift to offer Mama
Earth. I choose a pinch of cornflour, as a traditional
Native American practice.

Take the gift (organic and biodegradable) outside and

offer it to Mama Earth, place it on the ground, and
thank her for your life, for the food and the shelter she
offers us, and for all our relations - the plant people, the
stone people, the animals, insects, fish, birds,
mushrooms and all who live here in harmony with us.

Place your hands on the ground or walk barefoot to

connect and earth your physical energy.

Be open to receiving also, Mama Earth may have a

message for you. Listen with your inner voice, and allow
your relationship with her to evolve.

You may wish to incorporate the Poq’po cleanse as

described above into this morning ritual.

Evening Gratitude Ritual

Remember that taking time to appreciate the good
things in your life, no matter how big or small, has a
profound impact on your energy body.

Gratitude raises your vibration, attracting more positive

experiences and opportunities.

Find a Quiet Space: Take a few minutes to find a quiet

space where you can be present and undisturbed.

Close Your Eyes and Breathe: Close your eyes and take
a few deep, cleansing breaths. Allow your body to relax
and your mind to become still.

Ask Yourself Three Questions:

What am I grateful for today?

This could be anything from big things like good health
or loving relationships to small things like having a roof
over your head to sleep under, or perhaps you were
blessed with a beautiful sunset or a delicious meal. Take
a moment to genuinely appreciate these blessings in
your life.

Who am I grateful for today?

Think about the people who enrich your life. Perhaps
it's a supportive friend, a loving family member, or a
helpful colleague. Send them gratitude from your heart
for their presence in your life. Or perhaps you are
enjoying some alone time, send a message of gratitude
to yourself.

What positive experience did I have today?

Reflect on positive interactions, moments of joy, or even
small victories you experienced.

5: DAILY PRACTICES FOR RAISING YOUR VIBRATION

Cultivating Self-Compassion

Mirror Meditation: A Fusion of Toltec

and Japanese Wisdom
The way you speak to yourself has a profound impact
on your energy field. Imagine the difference between a
garden nurtured with gentle words and loving care,
versus one bombarded with negativity and criticism.

Mirror meditation, a practice with roots in both Toltec

shamanism and Japanese Zen traditions, offers a
powerful tool for cultivating self-awareness, replacing
negative self-talk with empowering affirmations, and
ultimately, fostering self-compassion.

The Toltec Legacy: Mirroring Your Inner

Critic
The Toltecs, a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican
civilization, believed in the power of our internal
dialogue.

Don Miguel Ruiz, a contemporary

Toltec scholar, highlights this concept
in his book "The Four Agreements."
One key agreement is to "be
impeccable with your word," which
extends to the inner voice you use with
yourself.

Mirror meditation allows you to

confront your inner critic, the voice
that whispers negativity and doubt. By
gazing into your own eyes, you create
a safe space to acknowledge this voice
without judgment.
87

Japanese Zen: The Art of

Observing the Self
Japanese Zen meditation emphasises mindfulness and
self-observation. Mirror meditation incorporates this
principle by directing your attention inward.

As you gaze into your reflection, observe your thoughts

and emotions without judgment.

Are there fleeting moments of self-criticism? Are there

areas where you hold onto negative beliefs about
yourself?

Simply notice these patterns without judgment, like a

scientist observing a natural phenomenon.

The Ritual of Self-Reflection

Create a Sacred Space: Find a quiet space where you can
be undisturbed. Dim the lights if desired, and create an
ambience that feels calming and introspective. Light a
candle or incense if that resonates with you.

Journaling Preparation: Have a pen and journal nearby

to capture any insights or emotions that arise during the
practice.

Facing Your Reflection: Sit comfortably in front of a

mirror, maintaining eye contact with your reflection.
Begin with a few deep breaths, allowing your body to
relax and your mind to become still.

Observing the Inner Critic: As you gaze into your eyes,

notice any negative self-talk that may arise. Is there a
critical tone? What emotions does this voice evoke?
Simply observe these patterns without judgment.

88
5: DAILY PRACTICES FOR RAISING YOUR VIBRATION

Recognising the Source: Consider where this inner

critic may have originated. Did it echo the voices of
parents, teachers, or past experiences? Understanding
the source can help you detach from its power.

Breaking the Cycle: When negativity arises, counter it

with a compassionate affirmation. Look into your eyes
and say something kind and supportive, something you
might say to a dear friend. Repeat this affirmation until
you feel a shift in your energy.

Journaling Integration: After the meditation, take some

time to journal about your experience. Write down any
insights, emotions, or recurring themes that surfaced.
This journaling helps solidify the positive intentions
cultivated during the practice.

Mirror meditation is a journey, not a destination. With

consistent practice, you'll develop a deeper sense of self-
compassion, replacing negativity with affirmations that
empower and uplift you.

Remember, the most important relationship you'll ever

have is the one with yourself. Treat yourself with
kindness, and watch as your inner light radiates
outward.

6: BUILDING A POSITIVE
ENERGY FIELD

GOING BEYOND CLEANSING

6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

Energy cleansing is an important first step, but

maintaining a positive energy field requires a proactive
approach. Here are some ways to cultivate a vibrant and
resilient energy:

Cultivating a Supportive Circle: Attract

Positive Energy by Choosing Your
Company Wisely

The people we surround ourselves with have a profound

impact on our emotional well-being, energy levels, and
even our outlook on life. Just like plants thrive in fertile
soil, we blossom when surrounded by supportive
individuals who uplift, inspire, and encourage us. Here's
how to cultivate a positive and supportive circle:

1. Identify Your Energy Givers and Drainers:

Energy Givers: These people make you feel good!

They're positive, encouraging, and leave you feeling
energised after spending time with them. They
celebrate your successes, offer a helping hand during
challenges, and inspire you to be your best self. A
common example of this type of person is a friend
who always listens patiently when you're going
through a tough time and offers helpful advice when
asked, but understands that sometimes advice is not
what you need.

Energy Drainers: These interactions leave you

feeling depleted or emotionally drained. They might
be critical, negative, or gossip excessively. They may
dismiss your accomplishments or focus on drama. A
common example of this type of person is a
coworker who constantly complains about their job
and spreads negativity in the office.
91
6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

2. Nurture Connections with Energy Givers:

Schedule Regular Catch-Ups: Make time for

activities you enjoy with supportive friends and
family. This could be grabbing coffee, going for a
hike, or simply having a meaningful conversation.

Express Gratitude: Let your loved ones know how

much you appreciate their presence in your life. A
simple "thank you for always being there for me" can
go a long way.

Be an Energy Giver Yourself: The best relationships

are two-way streets. Be a supportive friend or family
member who listens actively, offers encouragement,
and celebrates their successes.

3. Setting Boundaries with Energy Drainers:

Limit Contact: You don't have to completely cut ties,

but you can limit your exposure to negativity.
Politely decline invitations to events that leave you
drained, or shorten visits with draining individuals.

Be Assertive: If someone is constantly critical or

negative, you can assert your boundaries. Say
something like, "I don't appreciate your tone" or
"Let's focus on something positive."

Focus on Self-Care: Nurturing your own well-being

helps you cope with negativity more effectively.
Make time for activities you enjoy, practice
relaxation techniques, and prioritise getting enough
sleep.

92
6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

Remember: Building a supportive circle takes time,

awareness and effort.

Be patient with yourself, celebrate your progress, and

don't be afraid to let go of relationships that no longer
serve you.

When you surround yourself with positive and uplifting

people, you create a fertile ground for personal growth
and happiness.

93
6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

Ignite Your Spark: Activities to

Spark Joy and Elevate Your
Energy
Life can get busy, and sometimes the activities that
bring us the most joy fall by the wayside. One of my
spiritual teachers taught me that business is equivalent
to laziness.

So what’s the solution? A little greediness, or selfishness

and the best part: engaging in things you truly enjoy
isn't just about fun and leisure; it's a powerful tool for
boosting your energy, creativity, and overall well-being.

When you prioritise activities that spark joy, you elevate

your energetic frequency, attracting more positive
experiences into your life.

Here's how to reignite your inner spark:

1. Reconnect with Forgotten Passions

Dust off Old Hobbies: Did you used to love painting,

playing music, or writing? Reconnect with these
forgotten passions!

Even a small amount of time dedicated to a cherished

activity can bring immense joy.

Explore New Interests: Are you curious about

something new? Take a pottery class, learn a language,
or join a club focused on a topic that piques your
interest.

Stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to

unexpected discoveries.
94
6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

2. Find Activities that Align with Your Values:

The Joy of Helping Others: Do you feel energised by

helping others? Volunteer your time, support a cause
you care about, or offer to help a friend in need.

Acts of kindness not only benefit others but also create a

sense of purpose and fulfilment.

The Thrill of Learning: If you have a thirst for

knowledge, explore topics that fascinate you. Take an
online course, listen to educational podcasts, or visit a
museum.

Learning something new keeps your mind sharp and

sparks a sense of accomplishment.

The Power of Movement: Physical activity is a well-

known mood booster. Find an exercise routine you
enjoy, whether it's dancing, swimming, hiking, or simply
taking a brisk walk in nature.

Moving your body releases endorphins, natural mood

elevators that leave you feeling energised and positive.

95
6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

3. Make Time for Joy, Every Day:

Schedule Joy Pockets: Block out dedicated time in your

calendar for activities you enjoy, even if it's just for 20
minutes a day.

Treat this time as an important appointment, not

something you can easily reschedule.

Micro-Joys Matter: Incorporate small pockets of joy

throughout your day. Savour a cup of coffee on your
porch, listen to your favourite song during your
commute or spend a few minutes reading a book you
love.

These little moments of joy can significantly impact

your overall mood.

Break the Monotony: Shake up your routine! Try a new

recipe, explore a different part of town, or simply take a
different route on your walk.

Novelty sparks excitement and keeps life interesting.

96
6: BUILDING A POSITIVE ENERGY FIELD

Examples:

Joyful Activity: Spending an afternoon lost in a book –

for someone who loves getting wrapped up in a good
story as I do, this is a joyful experience that allows them
to escape and recharge.

Value-Aligned Activity: Volunteering at an animal

shelter – for someone who cares deeply about animal
welfare, this is a way to contribute to a cause they
believe in and connect with animals, bringing them
immense satisfaction.

The Power of Intention: Setting goals and visualising

positive outcomes can create a powerful energy field
that attracts what you desire. Hold a clear vision of what
you want to achieve and focus your energy on attracting
it.

Living with Integrity: When you live in accordance with

your values and act with integrity, you create a sense of
inner peace and harmony. This integrity resonates in
your energy field, attracting positive experiences and
opportunities.

By cultivating these practices, you can go beyond simply

clearing negativity and actively build a positive energy
field that attracts abundance, joy, and well-being into
your life.

Remember, there's no right or wrong answer when it

comes to finding joy. The key is to identify activities
that resonate with you and make you feel truly alive.

By prioritising these joyful pursuits, you elevate your

energy, cultivate a sense of purpose, and attract more
positive experiences into your life. So, go forth and
spark your joy!

7: MAINTAINING A
BALANCED LIFE

A LONG-TERM APPROACH
7: MAINTAINING A BALANCED LIFE

Energy cleansing isn't a one-time fix; it's an ongoing

practice for maintaining a balanced and vibrant life.

Here are some ideas for integrating energy cleansing

into your long-term well-being:

Find a Cleansing Routine that Works for You:

Experiment with different techniques and find cleansing
practices that resonate with you.

Some people prefer daily rituals, while others might

benefit from seasonal cleanses.

Personally, I recommend both!

Listen to Your Intuition: Pay attention to how you feel

and when your energy feels stagnant. Use your intuition
to guide you when it's time for a cleansing practice, or if
you need some ‘me’ time to nurture your energy.

Intuition is a vague concept for many of my new

students, if this is true for you, I invite you to tune into
how it feels in your body as you consider truth and a
non-truth.

This feeling can help direct you towards your body’s

innate wisdom and your intuition will build as you
practice and choose to listen to yourself regularly.

99
7: MAINTAINING A BALANCED LIFE

Life Throws Curveballs: Challenges and setbacks are

inevitable. We all experience ups and downs, no matter
how far on our healing journey we have travelled. As a
healer of healers,

I see so many wonderful and wise people who have

burnt out simply because they have not prioritised
cleansing following the work they do, or forget that self-
healing and cleansing is a priority above all else.

Remember that energy cleansing is a tool you can utilise

to navigate difficult times and bounce back, sooner and
more resiliently.

Embrace the Journey: Energy cleansing and cultivating

a life you love is a journey of self-discovery and growth.

Enjoy the process of learning, experimenting, and

creating a life filled with positive energy flow.

As all great manifestation teachers say - it is not about

the destination, it’s really about embracing the journey.

8: SHAPING YOUR REALITY

THE POWER OF MANIFESTING

WITH ENERGY
8: SHAPING YOUR REALITY

We've explored how energy cleansing can create a

positive and balanced internal environment. But did you
know the energy we emit also shapes our experience of
reality?

This chapter delves into the Law of Attraction, the idea

that our thoughts, feelings, and energy vibrations
influence the circumstances we attract into our lives.

The Law of Attraction: In essence, the Law of Attraction

proposes that like attracts like.

When we focus on positive thoughts, and emotions, and

radiate positive energy, we vibrate at a frequency that
attracts similar positive experiences and opportunities.

Conversely, dwelling on negativity creates a lower

energy vibration, potentially attracting more negativity
into our lives.

How Energy Shapes Reality: Our energy field doesn't

exist in a vacuum. It interacts with the energy of the
universe, creating a resonance that attracts experiences
that align with our dominant vibration. Positive energy
acts like a magnet, attracting positive experiences and
opportunities.

Manifesting with Intention: The Law of Attraction is

not passive; it requires intention.

By setting clear goals, visualising your desired

outcomes, and actively focusing your energy on
positivity, you can create a powerful force that attracts
what you desire.

102
8: SHAPING YOUR REALITY

The Power of Belief: Our beliefs play a significant role

in shaping our reality. If you believe you can't achieve
something, your energy will reflect that doubt,
potentially hindering your success.

Cultivating positive beliefs about yourself and your

potential empowers your energy and increases the
likelihood of manifesting your desires.

Taking Action: The Law of Attraction is not a substitute

for effort. While positive energy attracts opportunities,
it's still essential to take inspired action towards your
goals.

The universe will conspire to support your efforts when

your energy aligns with your desires.

Remember: Manifesting with energy is a journey, not a

destination. There will be setbacks and challenges along
the way. The key is to maintain a positive focus, learn
from experiences, and refine your approach.

By understanding the Law of Attraction and harnessing

the power of positive energy, you can become a
conscious creator of your reality. Embrace the practices
in this book to cultivate positive energy, set clear
intentions, set clear boundaries, and watch as your life
unfolds in ways that align with your deepest desires.

By incorporating the practices I offer in this book, you

can create a sustainable approach to energy cleansing,
cultivate your energy, fostering a strong sense of well-
being and resilience throughout your life. Remember,
you are a powerful being capable of attracting
abundance and living a fulfilling life.

So go forth, shine your light, and actively shape your

reality with the power of positive energy!

A SHAMANIC JOURNEY OF
HEALING AND TRANSFORMATION
9: ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My journey into the world of shamanism and plant

spirit medicine began over three decades ago in the
early 1990s, not as an academic pursuit, but as a
desperate search for my own healing.

Like many shamans, I walked the path of the "wounded

healer." As a young woman, I was burdened by deep
emotional and spiritual wounds that manifested in
physical ailments. Doctors offered no answers, and
pharmaceutical medicine held no cure. Lost and
desperate, as I was losing weight at a rapid rate, unable
to digest any food, I had no choice but to embark on a
path of alternative healing that would forever alter my
life.

The Spark of Healing

My first encounter with the healing power of plants was
a total revelation. A wise herbalist and homeopathic
healer introduced me to a plant medicine called
Calendula.

This simple singular herb was such a potent cleansing

and healing medicine, that it helped to save my life. The
moment I took my first taste of this plant medicine, a
wave of warmth and happiness washed through me, as I
experienced a profound shift from the despair I had
known for so long.

It was a transformational awakening, a cleansing and a

blessing all in one. This experience ignited the
beginning of a lifelong fascination with the science and
ancient wisdom of herbal medicine.

105
9: ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A Fusion of Knowledge
My initial foray into herbalism began with a scientific
approach. I pursued a 4 year BSc Honours degree in
Medical Herbalism, graduating in 1999 with a solid
foundation in Western herbal medicine.

However, my healing path didn't end there, this was just

the beginning. Throughout my Herbal apprenticeship, I
felt drawn to explore more holistic forms of healing.

This led me to delve into diverse modalities like

Hypnotherapy, Hypnobirthing, Aromatherapy, and
Reiki. The call of ancient traditions grew stronger, and
as my awareness of indigenous cultures and ancient
healing modalities grew, I embraced the teachings,
philosophies and healing practices of Traditional
Chinese Medicine and Shamanism.

Shamanic Explorations
My training in shamanic traditions has been enriched by
3 decades of learning from indigenous healers around
the world. From the wisdom of Northern European,
Romany, Siberian, Peruvian, Guatemalan, Mexican and
Ecuadorian shamans to the medicine men and women
of North America.

This eclectic tapestry of knowledge allows me to weave

together the best of both worlds: the scientific medical
and shamanic perspectives of reality. I am blessed to
have a strong foundation in mind, body and spirit
medicine.

106
9: ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sharing the Gift of Healing

Whilst my herbal Medicine degree, Hypnotherapy and
Aromatherapy diplomas all offered both practical and
written knowledge, my shamanic teachers all trained me
by experience and storytelling.

None of their ancient wisdom was written down, simply

passed down by word of mouth from generation to
generation. It made sense to me to write these teachings
down for myself to help me fully integrate it, and very
soon I realised what a gift these teachings were for my
clients and students too! And so I began to create
courses for all who asked me to, being led by this
collective calling to understand the wisdom of the
ancient ones, supported wherever possible within a
modern scientific construct.

For many years, I have had the privilege of serving as an

educator, and have trained as a professional teacher
also, gifting me the opportunity to teach at university
level for many years. Guiding students from beginners
to advanced practitioners in the realm of natural health,
I have created, written and led courses for renowned
organisations like The Psychedelic Society, The Institute
of Traditional herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy, Low
Impact Living Initiative, Learn-Direct, and The
University of West London.

I love teaching, I love watching people blossom as they

expand their consciousness, and discover how the
natural world and ancient traditions can help us live
harmoniously, as I once did. Currently, I am enjoying
teaching via the new online platforms, and in small IRL
courses, offering live events and online courses in my
areas of expertise: Herbal Medicine, Plant Spirit
Medicine, Sound Healing, Cacao Ceremony and
Shamanic healing.
