Touch typing is a style of typing without looking at the
keyboard. This technique involves all ten fingers. According
to the touch typing, every finger has a certain set of keys and
an area on the keyboard (Figure 1).

Note!
Remember to sit up straight.
There are other symbols on the keyboard in addition to
letters. Numbers and other symbols like dash are at the top
of the keyboard. Shift keys are on the left and right sides
of the keyboard. In combination with other keys, they play
an important role in typing. There is a slash key next to the
right Shift.
Let’s consider key combinations that involve Shift:
Shift + letter results in a capital letter;
Shift + 1 results in the exclamation mark;
Shift + / results in the ampersand;
Shift + dot results in the greater than symbol (>);
Shift + comma results in the less than symbol (<);
Shift + semicolon results in a colon.
Let’s begin typing!

Learning How to Type
In order to make it easier to work on the computer, people
invented shortcuts. It is a key combination that performs a
certain action.
For example, we want to create a folder. Instead of
repeating the mouse clicks, you can simply use this key
combination: Ctrl + Shift + N and have your new folder
right away.
Below is the list of basic shortcuts:
CTRL + C – copy;
CTRL + X – cut;
CTRL + V – insert;
CTRL + Z – undo;
CTRL + S – save;
Alt + F4 – close the current window;
(hold) Alt + Tab – view all currently open programs.
There are also shortcuts that involve the Windows key:
Win – open the Start Menu;
Win + E – open the This PC window;
Win + D – minimize all windows.
Remember these shortcuts and use them.
They will speed up your work dramatically.
