EVEN IF INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY
APPLICABLE LAW, THESE LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS WILL APPLY REGARDLESS OF WHETHER
LIABILITY ARISES FROM BREACH OF CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED
TO NEGLIGENCE), BY OPERATION OF LAW, OR OTHERWISE.
9. Controlling Law - This License shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of

Revision History
Highlights
This section issues Revision 6 to Service Bulletin, ATA Number TFE731-72-3568 (Publication Number
TFE731-72-3568), and contains these changes:
The list of highlights tells the users about the changes that the revision makes. The list has three columns. The
"Page" column shows the block of data that the revision changes and the page on which the block begins.
The block can be a section, subsection, graphic, table, etc. Revision marks give the location of the change in
the block. The "Description" column tells the user about the change or changes in each block. A paragraph,
table, or figure reference often comes before the description. The "Effectivity" column tells the user about
the part number(s) to which the block of information applies. The default value for this column is "All." "All"
means that the block applies to all parts.

C. Reason
(1) This service bulletin allows conversion of Engine Models TFE731-3 to TFE731-3D and
TFE731-3R to TFE731-3DR. The engines have improved turbine durability, higher ITT
temperature limits, and improved performance retention. The conversion will result
in increased ITT margins and reduced cost of ownership. This conversion does not
change Engine Model TFE731-3/-3R thrust rating.
D. Description
(1) This service bulletin allows conversion of Engine Models TFE731-3 to TFE731-3D and
TFE731-3R to TFE731-3DR. Conversion to TFE731-3D/-3DR engine models requires
prior or concurrent compliance with all service bulletins listed in Table 3 under the
heading “The following shall be accomplished prior to or concurrent with this service
bulletin. The accomplishment instructions outlined in each service bulletin stand
alone; therefore compliance with this service bulletin does not indicate compliance
with any other service bulletin.”
E. Compliance
F. Approval
(1) The engine model conversion authorized by this service bulletin complies with
applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and is FAA approved.
G. Manpower
(1) Weight difference resulting from incorporation of component parts listed in Section
2 is plus (+) 13.0 pounds. The aircraft weight and balance is as indicated in the
Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) listed below.
(a) Falcon 50, ST341CH-D.
(b) Hawker 400/600/700, ST456CH-D.

(1) Position 831376-1 compressor case fixture drill guide on Surface (Datum) B (ensure
that alignment pin on tool is in alignment hole on Surface (Datum) B and secure with
bolts. (See Figure 1.)
(2) Locate and drill one hole 0.210 to 0.215 inch diameter through Surface (Datum) B.
(See Figure 1.)
(3) Deburr reworked area.
(4) Line through existing dash number (3071770-2), and reidentify LP compressor case as
PN 3071770-4, using electrochemical etch process per Aerospace Standard AS478,
Method 7A2, to a maximum depth of 0.001 inch.
(1) The materials and compounds given in Table 10 and equipment listed in Table 12
are required to do this service bulletin.
CAUTION: USE CARE WHEN HANDLING COMPONENTS WITH CURVIC COUPLINGS.
CAUTION: USE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT WHEN HANDLING HEATED COMPONENT
PARTS TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY.
(2) Heat Seal Plate, PN 3073735-1, to 300 to 350 F for 1 hour in a preheated temperature
controlled oven.
NOTE: Seal plate is required to be heated and coupling to be chilled prior to
assembly, due to tight interference fit.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (EYES, HANDS, ETC) WHEN USING
LIQUID NITROGEN AS SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY CAN RESULT IF
IT SPLASHES ON YOU.
(3) Cool Coupling (seal/seal plate end), PN 3072335-3/3077083-1, in liquid nitrogen for
approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
NOTE: Paragraph 3.C.(3) must be accomplished quickly, after coupling is removed
from liquid nitrogen there is approximately 30 seconds to assemble seal
plate to coupling. Alignment pins will assist in hole alignment.
(4) Assemble heated seal plate to chilled coupling, ensure bolt holes are aligned and seal
plate seats fully on coupling. (See Figure 2.)
(5) Assemble Seal, PN 3072334-7, to seal plate and coupling. By design, there is a
slight interference fit between seal and seal plate, which will require the seal to be
chilled prior to assembly.
(6) Using anti-seize compound (C5-A Copper Based) on threads, as required, secure
seal and seal plate to coupling using 12 Bolts, PN MS9489-07, and 12 Nuts, PN
525-613-9005, as follows.
(a) Install Bolts, PN MS9489-07, in each hole.
(b) Secure bolts with Nuts, PN 525-613-9005. Snug tighten only, do not torque.
(7) Balance LP turbine shaft and seal assembly as follows.
(a) Adapt LP turbine shaft and seal assembly (coupling) to standard balancing
machine using 290562-1 and 290701-1 couplings on coupling curvic
couplings, 290566-32 tie bolt, and 290565-1 nut.
(b) Dynamic balance LP turbine shaft and seal assembly on curvic couplings
(Datums H and J) to an accuracy of 0.02 ounce-inch maximum in Plane
M. (See Figure 3.)
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE ANY MATERIAL FROM BOLT HEADS TO
ACHIEVE BALANCE REQUIREMENTS.
(c) To achieve balance requirements, the following methods may be used. Do not
remove any material from bolt heads to achieve balance requirements.
1 A shorter Bolt(s), PN MS9489-06, may be used in place of PN
MS9489-07.
2 Material may be removed from Seal, PN 3072334-7, as indicated in
Figure 3. If material is removed, the resultant fillet shall have a radius
of 0.125 inch minimum and a surface finish of AA125 or better.
NOTE: Two methods of achieving balancing requirements are provided for
ease of balancing. A shorter Bolt, PN MS9489-06, may be installed
in place of PN MS9489-07, or material may be removed from Seal,
PN 3072334-7. (See Figure 3.)
(8) Tighten Nuts, PN 525-613-9005, to a torque of 40 inch-pounds.
(9) Visually inspect curvic couplings to ensure cleanliness and that no damage has
occurred.
(10) Identify part as PN 3072333-9 in the area of existing serial number and lot number on
Seal Plate, PN 3073735-1, using electrochemical etch method to a maximum depth
of 0.001 inch. (See Figure 4.)
