Philosophy of Ministry: Evangelism and Discipleship

Evangelism and discipleship are two distinct concepts that cannot be

separated. Evangelism is sowing the seed, and the harvest follows.
later, when the seed bears its fruit. We must sow the seed
constantly, and infect the other brothers with our enthusiasm. The
The process of harvesting the fruit is discipleship or following.

There are many methods of evangelism. Some of these methods we use

frequently; distributing brochures, studying the Bible in homes, the same friendship.
There are also many other methods that may not be used very often.
often, like Christian music, evangelistic illustrations, evangelism
outdoor, evangelistic campaigns, drama and mime, etc.

We must make use of many methods in the proclamation of the good

news of Jesus, and feel fully free to experiment with methods
that we have not implemented so far.

While evangelism has its expected effect and there are people who need to be
discipleship, the focus may at any given moment change temporarily, and
more time will have to be invested in discipleship.
Evangelism, however, must always remain central in the
purpose of the local body.

Although some brothers have the special ability to evangelize, they

in the lives of the church leadership group.
Ministry Philosophy: Leadership in the Church

There are several biblical terms we use to describe a leader in the church.
The words 'leader', 'elder' and 'pastor' are among them. Also the word
"deacon" or "servant" is used in the New Testament for those who serve in the
local church.

The church's governance system is neither democratic nor autocratic but

theocratic. God, through men whom He has given divine wisdom,

under the direction of the great Shepherd of the sheep, Jesus Christ himself (1 Peter 5:1-4).

The leadership of the church will follow the biblical pattern found in 1 Timothy.
3 and Tito 1. Leadership is primarily an opportunity to serve God and
to serve your church. It is not a position of power within the church, but a
recognition of spiritual attitudes and skills that are already being
carried out through a man in the local church.

We recognize that almost always a man gifted by God becomes the

main maestro in the local church, nurturing the work through his gift of
teaching. However, he must share his authority and leadership with others
men who also meet the requirements found in the
passages mentioned above. We seek a certain plurality of leadership,
shared among several 'servant-leader' men.
Youth Group:

Mexico is a very young country, so we should not be surprised if we see a

church with a very large percentage of young people. The youth ministry must
occupy a quite high position in our list of important ministries. Not

account.

A good youth leader is essential for the success of the ministry. For this reason,
the youth leader will be included in the leadership team (even if not
recognized as a deacon or elder), and will participate in church-level decisions.

As soon as there are two or three young people who have been reached, the group of young people
can start to work, focusing on the most intimate discipleship than a
group less number offers. The youth leader can take advantage of all the
activities and camps at the circuit and national level as the Lord sees fit
guide. Whether the number of young people in the group is 2 or 200, the priority is
spiritual discipleship. The church leadership along with the group leader of
young people should try to take care of the group so that it does not become simply a 'club'

Proverbs 22:6 teaches us: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old...
the old man will not depart from him. The Bible places a lot of emphasis on education of
children from a tender age.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 says: And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with
all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words that I command you today,
they will be upon your heart; and you shall repeat them to your children, and you shall talk of them while
in your house, and walking along the road, and when you lie down, and when you get up. And the

any question of that nature.
Ministry Philosophy: Biblical Discipline in the Local Church

Church discipline practiced in a spirit of love and humility with

conviction and firmness is a biblical truth, and the church has the privilege and
obligation to exercise it.

The process of discipline is found in Matthew 18, where four steps are seen.

However, it must be acknowledged that there are situations in which the

it also informs us that sometimes there are wolves dressed as sheep who teach
false doctrines.

In these cases, in the same 'spirit of meekness' of Galatians 6, discipline

from the church. The discipline will be in a public form.

Another passage perhaps less known that speaks of biblical discipline is Titus.
3:10-11. It says: "To the man who causes divisions, after one and another

condemned by his own judgment." The Bible acknowledges that there are very confrontational people.
