Green Moon
Why, moon, do you rise today
green like an apple?
Is it because it has to rain
tomorrow morning?
Or cawing catastrophes,
to sigh hopes,
or why the firmament is there
in blue and maroon stockings,
or to get attention
or because you feel like it?
They look at you in wonder
the bell tower and the factory,
the shed and the rooftop
the backgrounds and the facades.
And the watchman on the corner
throw your head at the sword
while the cap falls off
and his face wrinkles.
I'm looking at you too
elbows on my window,
and I don't plan to withdraw,
even though I have seen so many moons,
until you are fully mature
